It was my child's first experience in school ever. He had Miss Nicole in the 4's class. He was acting out a bit by throwing a few tantrums and not sitting still. I was told he would run out of the class. The teacher refused to close the door to mitigate these issues, as she said she couldn't chase him with such a large class. I was also told he had the worst behavior of anyone in the class when I was trying to relate on how other 4 years olds might exhibit challenging behavior. She mentioned next steps would include talking to the principal and everytime we picked my son up it was a super negative report never a single positive thing said about my son. I would expect teachers to work with children during their first school experience on their behaviors to help them adjust, but this was not my experience at New Hope. They seemed very quick to give up and complain about the situation. Remember this is someone's child and only saying negative things doesn't make a family excited to send their child here. the teacher suggested we needed to bring an aid in the classroom. I never one said my child was disabled or needed an aid. This all happened in his first 4 days of school ever. This has ruined my impression of New Hope as a school and as a church unfortunately. read more

My son has been attending New Hope Christian School (preschool) for the past 2 years. He was born on August 3rd, which is 3 days after the cut off to go to kindergarten. This meant we had to keep him in preschool an extra year before going to kindergarten. TUITION - Preschool and day care can cost an arm an a leg. Unfortunately, my husband and I do not qualify for any child care subsidies (military, hawaiian, or state/federal funded), and we have to pay tution in full. NHCS is one of the affordable preschools in the area. I did my research and looked for preschools located between Kapolei-Pearl City, and New Hope was the most affordable. We started him off part time, which was 3 full days a week. They also offer early morning care from 6:30am, which is an additional $50. I think we were paying $610 for 3 full days which included meals. This year, school meals are $40(?) per month. For full time with additional morning care and meals, we pay $810 monthly. It is a lot, but it's actually on the lower end compared to other schools that charge $800-$1000 for full time alone. LOCATION - NHCS is located in the Waipahu Town shopping center, along side Goodyear, Jeans warehouse, goodwill and Seafood city. Very convenient for those who live on the west side (Waipahu, Kunia, Ewa Beach, Kapolei) as you can just hop off the freeway to drop off and pick up. There are a few reserved parking stalls fronting the school. FACILITY - It can be deceiving as it does not look large from the outside, but this school includes Clean, well kept and air conditioned. Class rooms are divided by age, with the eldest (5 year olds) towards the entrance, and the youngest (2-3 year olds) towards the inner end of the hall way. The playground is in the back and is on the smaller side in comparison to other schools. STAFF - We LOVE my sons teacher. Ms. Nancy was his teacher last year and again this year. She along with the other teachers, Ms. Tasha, Ms. Joy, Ms. Sydni, & Ms. Vanessa are always so pleasant. My son usually cries at drop off time (yes, even though he's been going there for almost 2 years. Lol.) But they always welcome him in and help him adjust. The staff has a great communication system, and always emails and calls to notify and/or remind parents of any events, field trips, or emergencies. Another thing I like is that the teacher/staff conducts parent teacher conferences twice a year. I really appreciated meeting with them and discussing my child's progress. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical to send my son to NHCS, but I am glad I did. He has grown from a scared toddler into a little boy who is ready for kindergarten. Overall, I would highly recommend New Hope Preschool. read more

This is my sons first time attending any preschool 2018-2019 . I sent him here because first of all, we attend this church regularly and I like what they instill in him by teaching him the word of God and I really love that he comes home singing about God. Secondly, because we pay out of pocket, this seemed to be the more affordable option for us.. Win/win, right?!? This review would have been 5 stars, if it wasn't for this ONE complaint that I have. So, here it goes. So breakfast comes with the tuition that we PAID IN FULL. There was this one morning( Not even 2 months of my son going there) the breakfast was a fruit cup, a muffin, and milk. Well, they ran out of fruit cups, so my son had 1 muffin. He was still hungry and asked for another muffin, I asked the staff in charge if he could have another muffin , and I don't believe she said No!! I was taken aback! The thing that pisses me off more is, I see the staff eating the breakfast that could have been for my son. I was so livid, we never returned for breakfast. This is one of the best pre schools I've found. The staff is so caring for their students. They made me feel that I could trust my daughter there all day. She comes home from school with all these new things she learned and she's so happy. The facility is clean and safe. The classes are huge. The curriculum is well structured. The tuition is affordable. And the location is very convienent. I would recommend this facility to all families with little ones ;) read more

NHCS lacks communication with parents. I've sent so many emails that never got any responses. Along with messages at the front desk / office that never got forwarded. They wouldn't refund my deposit money after i pulled out my son early using tuition insurance to cover the rest of the enrollment along with the required notice of disenrollment. They charged me for an additional month after paying a full month prior that my son only went to school for less than a week of. The school is run selfishly and ruthlessly, stark contract of what they say they represent. They do not hold themselves to the same standards they say they teach. Don't make the same mistake as me, send your kids somewhere else! read more

My son just finished preschool here, and will br continuing at the elementary campus, I cried at his graduation because I was going to miss the interactions I have with the preschool side. Innovative school, high on technology, old-school yet dynamic rudimentary of mastering concepts of mathematics. Cursive is mandatory. Tons of projects involving world history, U.S. history and geography at appropriate age levels. Tuition is the most affordable in the area (still a bit pricey for Oahu living). Teachers are professional and personal. High quality teachers from extensive wide-range educational background. Teachers and principal genuinely care about your child, not a one-size fits all approach in teaching and communication. Top notch air conditioned, high-tech, clean, creative learning atmosphere/facilities. The delta: lack of grass playground. Not perfect but pretty close. My child has attended since kindergarten and I've seen how much he has flourished in all aspects of growing into a respectful, kind, smart individual with a conscience. As a parent raised on Oahu, with a private school education (not that it matters), I would definitely recommend this school to my local community as well as anyone with children looking for a quality education with a Christian foundation. 5 stars for me. read more

I would not recommend this school. The learning environment is terrible when compared to other pre-schools and the schools leadership is lacking because the teachers are not properly trained and equipped to teach. The school is not accredited and there is a reason why it is not. We sent our daughter here because it was a Christian school but we didn't have a very good Christian experience. After 2 months of sending her to the 4 year old program our daughter didn't want to attend this school anymore and she would wet her pants at night. Our daughter came home one day saying that her teacher pinched her, this was after her teacher admitted to leaving our daughter in 10 to 15 minute timeouts crying. The teacher admitted the lengthy timeouts and said it was because our daughter was disruptive and manipulative. Till this day the school has not given us an explanation of what happen in the pinching incident. They told us we needed to speak to their attorney which has left my wife and I very disappointed(what happen to building strong relationships that this Church and its Pastor stresses?). We ended up leaving this school and she now attends Seagulls Ocean Pointe preschool. This Seagull school has a great learning envrionment and our daughter told us last night that she 'loves her new school'. In the morning when we drop her off at school she runs to her class. This is a far cry from New Hope school. When we dropped her off at New Hope school she didn't want to go to school. Seagull is not a Christian school but I believe that New Hope school was not very Christian either. Children deserve the best learning environment and education is just as important as a so called Christian school. New Hope school is a babysitting service and not a school where children are taught well. I'd recommend you send your child to an accredited school that is being held to a higher standard. p.s. I was excited to bring my child here. I referred my friend so her child could go with my child. She and her child toured the school, and they didn't like it at all. The kids are out of control, no structure, bathroom is adult bathroom, they wouldn't show the playground (because it's small). So I decided not to take my child there. I informed the school my child would not be going there anymore. Judy was quick to answer when I was enrolling her but as soon as I decided i wasn't going to put her there, she took long to reply. I informed Judy my child isn't going there anymore, she didn't reply. I emailed her again a week and a day later saying, "Waiting on your response,." She apologized for the delayed response and asked the situation so she can address it and that the refund will be eligible after 90 days. I answered it and Judy never replied. I patiently waited for over 90 days. I came here to get my refund. They don't remember anything at all. I talked to Leka, she didn't help one bit. Not only did she not help she lied. I asked for Judy and she said Judy isn't here. A few minutes later Judy interrupts us and says whatever and I'm Judy. I said, "Thats disappointing." Judy took me in another room and we talked. She barely remembered anything. I thought this is a place where they follow Jesus and spread his word and be more like Jesus and humble. Far different than the church I go to which is Saint Joseph. I've dealt with other preschools and this school is the hardest to get my refund back. The other school gave me back my refund easily but this school is something else. The most I waited for a refund was two weeks and this one I've waited over 90 days and I still haven't gotten my refund. The worst school ever. read more

We transitioned our lil' tyke from another pre-school to New Hope Christian School (NHCS). At first, we were quite skeptical since the school hasn't been around for a long time and most people we know in our social circle was just as surprised about New Hope having a school as we were! But because we wanted our son in a private Christian school and close to home, we took our chances. Ms. Judy was very welcoming, and immediately made us feel "at home". She answered the million and one questions we had, like a champ! His first day of pre-school was with Ms. Fujioka and Ms. Lita at the Kapolei Campus; the experience was nothing short than amazing as we couldn't believe how much he was learning in 1-year! From Bible verse memorizations to daily homework being sent home to condition good habits; we can't express how happy we've been with the academics NHCS continued to provide. Naturally, we enrolled him for Kindergaten and the curriculum never ceased to amaze us! By the end of 1st quarter, our lil'guy could write his name in cursive, has memorized 10 Bible verses, and is beginning to read. We feel so blessed to have Mrs. Balauro as his teacher this year and the rest of the wonderful staff who commit everyday to investing in our child's life. We couldn't be happier! Humbled. read more

We began sending of of our children here in 2011 and my daughters are now in both the elementary and the preschool. All the classes are fully staffed using the NAEYC and the ACSI Standards and are in the process of being acreditted. I have only had good experiences with my children here working with multiple teachers and aides. They exemplify being good christian role models to their students. I have attended feild trips with the classes and have seen first hand how well the staff helps to lead and nurture their students. As of now my 1st grader reads 1.5 grade levels above her public school peers and this is normal for this class/school. read more

My son is attending to this school for the third time. Teachers are great. I witnessed one very mischievous 3y/o boy when I dropped off my son in their room. But now, he's very well behave. As far as we know, our son is learning. The thing that we don't like is the admin. I learned that she doesn't have enough experience in terms of answering parents inquiries.
