My mom was simply trying to schedule a TB chest X-ray and encountered an incredibly rude and condescending attitude over the phone. The call had accidentally gone through the medicine line instead of the clinical line, but my mom didn't know that since she just called the number that was given on the website which was truly an honest mistake. But instead of calmly redirecting her, the woman on the phone became agitated, interrupted my mom, and even said "let me finish" in a disrespectful tone. Eventually, when she did give the information, my mom was just trying to confirm the days and times, and politely said, "that's how you talk--you don't have to be rude." Her response was a cold "Okay, bye." trying to end the call already. There's no reason for anyone--especially a patient or caregiver seeking basic info--to be treated with that kind of attitude. Terrible experience. I needed a 2 step TB Test. They told me I didn't need it and that I am not a health care worker. I got hired as a Medical assistant at a wellness center. They did not take me seriously at all. The two ladies at the front desk were very rude and unprofessional. One of them was even straightening her hair on the job. FREE TB test!! I remember coming here as a kid to get a TB test for school. All I could remember was a relatively long wait and a lot of people. I'm glad I remember this place because when Mink needed to get a TB test, I knew where to go. We game on a weekday early morning and to our surprise, it wasn't busy. Maybe it was because it wasn't before school started or maybe we got lucky? Either way, we were in and out in a blink of an eye. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Fast forward 2 years and we had to come back for Mink's license renewal. There was a line of people this time but everyone was socially distanced. The staff was wearing PPE and there were cleaning items for people going there (hand sanitizer and wipes). When a staff member was able to assist us, we found out Mink didn't need to do another TB test and just needed a copy of her original test for her renewal. Instead of waiting in that long line, she directed us to another area where we were immediately helped. The clerk was friendly, super helpful and quick. Nothing but great experiences here and highly recommended if you need a TB test. read more

I came here on Monday to do my TB test for school since I HAVE to get a paper saying I am negative and took the test. I got here at 7:20am, got my form pre filled out, and waited in line for a good hour. Got in, waited another 15 minutes in line just to be told I can't get my TB test because they "don't do TB skin testing for school" even though all colleges require you to take the TB test and get your results. So I got my "TB test" form saying I'm healthy to go to school even though I didn't even take the TB skin test. And the guy who helped me wrote my birth date wrong. So if you getting a TB skin test for school around Kalihi area and want to know if you are healthy and don't carry TB, go somewhere else like Kalihi Palama. They won't give you a paper saying you are free from TB without taking the test. read more

People here truly have the aloha spirit. They are so helpful and kind. I took my dad (who is in wheelchair) for a TB screening and I realized while standing in line that I forgot to fill in the back of form and about to go back to form counter, but the gal that was processing people in line called us forward and helped us complete my dad's form. As we got the skin shot, the nurse was so gentle with dad, seeing that he is elderly with very frail and thin skin. As she injected TB test, dad didn't even feel to needle poke. And as we were leaving, I mentioned that I needed to push dad uphill to the upper parking (kinda steep incline) because lower parking was full when we arrived. The nurse said she could wait outside by entrance with dad until I drove car down to load him in. I need to get a TB test for a state position I will be working at so I made a phone call to the number that was provided to me to see if they take appointments or is it walk-in only. The lady who answered was very rude and sassy but I didn't catch her name. She hung up so I didn't have a chance to ask. Me: For the TB testing, do I make an appointment or is it walk in only? Some background: I was instructed by a military screener to get an updated chest x-ray for TB clearance so that I can move overseas with my husband. I had previously gone to Lanakila for a chest x-ray nine years ago when a skin test turned out positive, so I decided to go back to the same place. I checked Hawaii's TB program website and emailed ahead as instructed.  Received an email back the next day which didn't answer any of my questions and basically told me to visit one of the clinics to obtain my records. (They attached a list with only phone numbers and no locations.) I then called Lanakila and explained my situation. (The person I talked to over the phone said she was new; at some point she was talking to someone else while I was on the line...) After a series of three phone calls, I was told that if I have documentation of a previous positive skin test (which I figured they ought to have in their system...) they will do the x-ray for me. Went to Lanakila with the document they printed out for me years ago, filled out an application form, and waited in line. As soon as the lady at the window saw my reason for being there, she turned me away. "Sorry, we can't do it for 'personal reasons.'" She then printed out my previous chest x-ray result (which is no use to me). When I asked if there was anything else in my record, she said they had my positive skin test result (see, they did have it!) and printed that out as well. Worst runaround I've ever experienced! Concerning COVID precautions, a sign on the door said that only 8 people are allowed in the lobby at a time. At some point, it got really crowded (definitely more than 8) and somebody came out to tell people they have to wait outside. That was the only positive part of my experience there today. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Needed a TB test for upcoming job and this place was recommended by several people. I parked just across the street because I wasn't too sure of their allotted parking. It's not in the most charming of neighborhoods but those milling around are harmless. I walked up to what I thought was the main entrance and clearly I wasn't the first to do this because they have a song posted saying "Turn around, go back down the stairs you came up and turn right" lol! Love it! There wasn't any line inside the actual tb read clinic. Super easy, just fill out foarm, go to Line 1 MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME ID. And once the friendly person at the window fills out the rest he sends you over to Line 2. Wait all of 2-3 min until the nurse calls you in and does the puncture. Go back 2-3 days later and you're done!!! Doesn't get easier than this. Oh, did I mention it's all FREE?!?!!!! read more

This is definitely the go to place for a tb shot. The process is fast and easy. I arrived there at 1030 then it took me about 5inutes to wait for parking. When I got inside the line was already long and I had to really think if I was going to wait in this line but I figured since I drove all the way here for Waianae it wouldn't hurt to wait. I got to the front at about 1050am the lady helping me was very fast, once I got inside the tb testing area the nurse did the shot in about a minute or so then I was on my way out. They open at 715am so I would definitely suggest taking advantage of the early opening to beat the rush of people who arrive later and also get dibs on parking. Every 2 years I always have to get a TB Test done for work. Every time I come here to renew it the workers get angrier and angrier every time. They are extremely rude. I went to get my test done on a Monday. Just because I didn't know that there was a back side to the form I was filling out the person assisting me immediately changed her tone towards me. She grew quite angry that I didn't fill out the backside of the form before I stood in line to get helped. Clearly there was no signs that says "Please don't forget to fill the backside to this form!" Then she asked me what I did for work and I told her I was an assistant for the CEO and Corporate Compliance Manager for a private health provider company. The form asked me what do I work for and I listed it as Health Care provider cause that's the type of Company I work for. She then started to degrade me and made me feel insecure by telling me that I'm just a Administrative assistant even when I explained to her that I'm always around clients that why I answered that column of the form that way. She then rolled her eyes and laughed. She then instructed me to go to the second line. I was furious and very disappointed. The person taking my test was very pleasant and nice/well-mannered. She kindly addressed that I would need to get my test results on Wednesday. Today is Wednesday and I'm here to get my results. I see a sign that says "Go to LINE 1 To get results and or X-ray #". I go to line 1 and the person next to me gets yelled at by the helper and the helper says "You need to go to line 2!". The people around me also waiting in line also looked very disgusted with their behavior. The only workers that are nice here are the translators and the people that perform the tests on you. A little piece of advise, if you don't like what you do, PLEASE QUIT AND STOP MAKING PEOPLE UPSET BECAUSE YOU'RE MISERABLE. read more

So went in today to do my TB. Was told this place is good. Well I guess not. Got there filled out the paper work and they send me to X-ray. Sat there over a hour. So I asked if anyone was there and got a snotty answer of they was in a meeting and u just have to wait. So I sat back down and waited another 15 min. The nurse comes and tells me that they went to lunch and have to wait another hour. So I got up and left. Wrong person to piss off. Waisted my time and I lost hours at work due to incompetence. It's all free and the hours here are greater than other places that offer the service. Parking is very limited and it does get busy here round the clock so it's best to bring someone with you to watch your car while you get serviced. TB center is NOT in the front of building. It is on the LEFT side if your looking at the center. Once you make it around the corner you'll see the door easily. Bring your ID! Once you enter you'll most likely see a line of people right in front. Go through them and on the wall on your right side you fill out a paper. Then get in line. Once they've filled out your paper and given you a code, get in line 2. Its straight forward, but with all this signs, seems like people don't know what to do. Its FREE! How can I give anything less than 5 stars to a place that gives FREE tb testing? Talk about steps towards universal healthcare! Whoops - did I let my liberal thinking show? Came here for a 2-step tb test and got it done in 9 days. Each time, the nurses were really friendly and welcoming and smiley. Considering it's a free service, I was expecting witches. I definitely prefer friendly nurses than witchy nurses when they're stabbing you with needles. Each time I went, it was in the morning and noon. They really weren't as busy as I expected. I think I waited 10 minutes at the longest. While I waited, they showed a locally-made educational film about tb, which I found entertaining. All you need is a photo id. Parking sucks. A really convenient and quick place to do your TB. They have a parking lot and if you can't find parking, there is street parking. The TB testing is done on the ground level. Fill out a form on the right hand side, register/receive a number from line 1, then stand in line 2 to receive the test/reading. They will give you a flyer to remind you what day to receive your reading. All you need to do is being your ID and wait in line 2. It's really simple, the line moves fast and the actual testing doesn't take more than a few minutes. read more

I did not know this place existed but am so thankful! All the reviews here are super helpful including the location to park. I arrived just before 8am and was the 10th person in Line 1 (line 2 is for the follow up skin read). I was at the front desk within 5 minutes where I next stood in line 2 for my shot and waited approximately 5-10 minutes. The shot itself takes just a second and you're on your way. The ladies here are fast, efficient and super helpful. My follow up I made sure to get there before the doors opened but there was already 20 people in line in front of me. I tried coming here to get updated results/clearance for the upcoming pearl harbor apprentice program but apparently they don't do it for that reason. In other words you need to be either a student or food service worker to qualify for "free" tb shot and skin test. However the clinic is very nice and clean, I came here around 8am Monday morning and there was a very short line. Parking wasn't too bad but like most reviews, come early and it shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps next time I should just tell them I need it for a food service hospitality job. read more

The customer service here needs work. The lady at the front has a bad way of talking to people when things get hairy. I Had to get a TB test here for work and there was an issue when they couldnt find my name on their approval list. Instead of explaing things smoothly, the lady basically says "i dont see your name here...so get out of my face". Tone of voice was very rude and unfriendly. I asked to call my employer and have them speak to her but she did not want any if it. Made it seem like she couldn't have cared less about the actual situation. A girl lost her drivers liscence in front of me and asked the man working there if he forgot to return it to her and he looked like he didn't even care. Review for TB testing center only: Overall: AWESOME TESTING CENTER! They are very fast and professional and FREE if you qualify for testing! Location: Park in the lot or along the nearby park if parking is full, then go to the outside/base of the building (basement) makai side and follow the TB testing signs. Hours: Mon, Tues, Weds, Fri - 7:45a to 3p and Thurs 7:45a to 2p. It is also closed during noon to 1p for lunch. You need 2-3 days in between the test and the reading. Hints: go early! It's not so busy. Bring a valid form of ID or they won't let you take a test. Make sure you can go back for the reading or you have to do it again. Don't scratch the PPD test site or you could cause a false positive :( Thanks Hawaii DOH for running the TB control program here!
