My wife and I were recently on a trip to Yellowstone Park, and we spent the night in Lander on our way to the park. We have a diabetic cat that requires insulin twice a day, and I very carelessly forgot to bring the insulin pen on the trip. That was bad enough, but to make matters worse, it was a Saturday night when it's impossible to get any help while traveling on a weekend in a strange town. Everyone I called was unable to help until Monday morning despite the cat needing insulin right away. However, when I was finally able to get in touch with the emergency weekend vet at Lander Valley Animal Hospital - late at night, Dr Kennedy answered. Miraculously, she was able order an insulin pen for us to pick up the next morning at Safeway. What a relief to have such excellent care for out-of-town travelers who were in desperate need of veterinarian help. Thank you, Dr Kennedy. Good care for my dog. Hilarious that it's next to a taxidermy place. Expect minimal $200 bill

I am a travel nurse in a camper with a large long hair German Shepard puppy. I liked the vet when we arrived in Lander. I wanted a second opinion about a surgery for my puppy. Granted my puppy was 82 pounds at the time. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I have had to board this pup twice with them. Both times we were assured that they understood about his size, age, and breed. The first time he had to have medicine for "diarrhea". He was in a good trial for his scratching. I didn't understand that they switched his food while there when he had his. The silly pup like to plug himself up with string so we try and watch him closely. We were charged extra for that. The day before we get him. He scratched his nose pretty bad but he didn't seem to mind and wasn't bothering him. NOW the second boarding is a nightmare. We in trusted again with this facility. Asked if they were comfortable with him. As soon as we land in Texas for our sons military graduation, we get a voice mail that the facility says he is barking and a vet says he is aggressively anxious. Mind you he is use to being outside in the cold ALOT. This facility doesn't take them for exercises and was told he couldn't go outside. My spouse just went to pick him up. We were threatened. If we didn't agree to the medication and extra charges they would have placed my pup in a pound "release him" is what was said. We were also told he can't come back to board and find family to watch him. LOL I am a travel nurse and my family is across the states. I thought this was a friendly area but I have never experienced this. My spouse paid the extra because Shantel also said that we wouldn't have been able to take our dog. So we were placed in a hostage situation. But it is ok to use their vet services again. LOL. The handler at the boarding place was shocked that the pup "was aggressive and anxious". She even said that was the breed. Like I said. I liked the vet we met but the front office is unprofessional and horrible to pet owners that are not "local". Picture of the nose read more

We are full time travelers passing thru town and our puppy hurt his leg. We were recommended to this vet by a couple of ladies walking down the street with their dogs and they were able to get us in. We were traveling through Lander when our dog got sick. The Hospital was able to see us that day, did a great job fitting us in between the regularly scheduled patients. Everyone we encountered was friendly, informative and compassionate. We even had a private waiting room while waiting for tests to be performed/discussed with us. Dr. Blake is a superb vet, explained the rationale of the possible diagnoses, why she was recommending the treatment she suggested, and what to look for in our dog as we continue on our travels. I highly recommend Lander Valley Animal Hospital and Clinic! First off, when you walk in it's very clean, no bad smells. The front desk staff are very nice and caring. The vet and vet tech were so kind, caring, gentle, and thorough. My dogs nails were a little overgrown but, they didn't judge or scold us. They just clipped them with patience and were so gentle. One of my dogs has a skin problem. The vet recommended a shot and then a spray to take home to put on his irritated skin. She asked me to call in a couple of weeks to inform them on how he was doing. I actually received a call from the office one week after the appointment asking how my dog was responding to the shot and spray! I have never had a vet office do that! I don't trust these people anymore with the health of my dog as I think they could care less about her and are just in it for the money. One of the receptionist actually got snooty with me twice. I try to go anywhere but here if possible, but am limited in this tiny town with options. read more

This place is a gem! We are traveling cross country with our pup for the first time (he just turned 2) and found ourselves in need of a vet. This place saved our sanity by seeing us right away as a walk in, and quickly being able to answer our questions. Turns out he had some nasty bug bites, and they were able to give us some topical treatment (and peace of mind) within minutes. Now we are back on the road with tails wagging!! read more
