BUT - the FOOD! This is just a place to eat really VERY well. Their local dishes (with a few exceptions they only offer regional cuisine) are prepared the way they should be, without shortcuts, everything is fresh and tasty. If you want to sample some good real german food without it being misrepresented by lazy and unmotivated cooks, then come here! They even have a certificate to prove that all their ingredients are locally sourced, which is to show that they care comprehensively. All that said, the prices are extremely reasonable. Just make sure to reserve ahead of time, as this place is well known amongst the locals.

I had the chanterelles dripping Ina lovely cream sauce with dumplings. Spectacular! My friend had the wiener achnizle which was cooked perfectly and accompanied by a delicious potato salad. Another had the trout with spaghetti, savory and my daughter had the goulash. All very good. You really cannot order wrong here. All the ingredients are local and fresh. We will be back!

The facility has a banquet hall on the grounds for larger events or groups. We had dinner last night it was elegant and of superior quality. I had venison with chantrel and crimini mushrooms and spaetzln. My wife had the trout and potatoes. Our children had stroganoff and veal. Everything tasted superb and was cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared a chocolate mousse with fresh fruit, it's was excellent. If you are in the area of the Bodensee Lake Constence and want excellent service, food, a lovely and quiet place to stay choose The Reck's. Pete C.

We were a party of three and went in for the special, which was a dish with a sauteed (maybe even creamed) kale seasoned to perfection. There were two sausages with it, one was called pinkel and it was my favorite. Apparently, this is specially ordered and shipped to them. It's fantastic. Another bratwurst, a slice of ham, and some boiled potatoes. All of this for a very reasonable 15€. We started with two of the soups and bread and we each had drinks. The service and the atmosphere were perfect. I would absolutely recommend that you try to get in here and check out their seasonal menu. My local friends love it and I'm so glad they shared this with me!
