On our trip to Germany (my first back since I was born there), Dad ensured we visited Berchtesgaden…read moreas it was his and my mom's favorite place to visit in all of Germany while he was stationed in the country. We drove down and just popped into town in the middle of May, and Roman and Camilla had rooms available! We thought the place was empty at first, as it took us a long time to find someone. We got choice rooms, right on the corners, and mine was such that I could open the window at night and listen to the streams flowing down from the Alps and converging under the roundabout there in town. The room was very comfortable, as was the bathroom. The TV was small, but that didn't bother me much. There's no WiFi at this guesthouse, but it's within very easy walking distance of an Internet cafe. Camilla serves up a great German breakfast with a view of the stream. Roman doesn't speak English, which is fine (it's their country!), but Camilla does speak some English. Between her English and my German, we got along fine. They seemed to really appreciate that I at least attempted to speak to them in German, which I didn't mind at all - I really enjoyed trying even though I was probably horrible. She helped me with the Euros and things in town. I will absolutely stay here again!

This place is clearly dated and not very clean- we found all sorts of hairs and such that didn't belong to us in the room and bathroom. The room was reasonably spacious for 3 and there is a nice river outside, but I heard much more traffic on the roundabout than I heard the river flowing. The location is adequate, but they clearly have a habit of cutting corners. The towels felt like sandpaper, there was no mirror to get ready outside of the tiny and hot WC, meaning I couldn't get ready while my nephew showered. Also, like the other hotels I've stayed at this summer who were prepared for the heat and provided a standing fan, the top floor room desperately needs some sort of fan in the hot summer months. Temperatures are reaching 33C (91F) during the day and there's no way to cool the room down. Open windows at night can only do so much. The breakfast offerings also showed some cut corners; limited bread, meat, and cheese selections and a disgusting knock-off brand of spread instead of Nutella. All in all, I would never choose to stay here again, but I gave it 2 stars because the mattresses were reasonably comfortable and it beats sleeping under a bridge.

We loved staying at this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer than two nights. When we…read morearrived at our room there were robes (to include a cute robe for a child) along with slippers to wear to their spa services and/or pool/hot tub. I thought it was a nice touch. We also had free sparkling water. We had a king bed and sofa sleeper. While the bed was comfortable, the sofa sleeper was not. If you have a third person see if there are any other options available. This was the only downside to our stay. The bathroom was separated into two areas- a room with the toilet and the other with the shower/tub. We had a small balcony with views of the Bavarian Alps. It was at the front of the hotel. Now onto what we loved the most: There was an indoor pool on the top floor. It wasn't warm but it wasn't cold. We had it completely to ourselves on both days. It also has great views. Note: On one end of the pool is a button where you can turn on the jets for a lap pool option. Our favorite though was the huge outdoor rooftop hot tub. This is where you really want to go. One evening there was 7 of us in there with plenty of space left. The views of the mountains from this hot tub were probably some of the best views I've ever had. We had the hot tub to ourselves one evening. I question if half the guests knew about the pool and hot tub as apparently the hotel was fully booked but it was a ghost town up there. I will say it is tricky to find. The elevator does not take you directly to it, rather you have to take the stairs and enter through the spa services area. Within walking distance are several restaurants, a convenience store and grocery store. Make note that everything in this area pretty much shuts down at 6 p.m. The only thing that is open past that time is an ice cream shop. I would absolutely return to this hotel in the future. I would try for a week's stay if possible as there is so much to do in the area.

I have 3 nights booked here, but checking out first thing tomorrow...I wish I was anywhere but here...seriously considering just sleeping in the car tonight because it's so bad. If you're used to a prison cell and can't find anywhere else to stay, this might be ok for you, otherwise, be aware there's no space for luggage and a bathroom so small you cant turn around...literally. You can't even sit on the toilet without being crammed against the sink on one side and a wall against the other side. The front desk is abandoned in the early evening, so there's no one available to ask for any kind of relief. I have no idea why anyone would ever stay here. What a huge mistake. I'm checked into Room 3, but you can probably find me in the car until I can get the heck out of here.

It was a great room - master bedroom and two twin beds, a roomy balcony, and (most importantly) windows that we could open up all the way to have a nice, airy evening. The linens were spotless, they provided basic toiletries, and you can't beat the view of the Alps from your balcony. There are several restaurants nearby and the hotel also offered a complimentary breakfast that was far from "continental" - a traditional German meal awaited us (with some tourist-friendly touches like cereal). Everyone was pleasant and helpful. It was a very relaxing and comfortable stay. Free WiFi was a great way to plan the rest of our trip home to Ansbach.

It was clean, spacious, & comfortable. We loved our little balcony. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There were many breakfast options including savory and sweet items, a fabulous coffee machine, & a large bright breakfast room to enjoy it all in. I loved the fact they did a whole basket of laundry for €10.00! After two weeks of traveling and one trip to a laundromat in Munich, this was a huge treat! The only con we had was parking was somewhat of an issue and the WiFi was sketchy at times. However, neither issue would keep us from staying here again!

The breakfast is top-notch, including pretty much anything you can think of to eat: eggs, meats, breads etc.and was included. The staff couldn't have been better. This place is a must!!!
