So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

This kitchen has some gems stored in their sleeves. Food outstanding! The location and view. Austria is filled with Gasthauses that are situated in places with views that make you say "I'm quitting my job, moving here and eating & drinking for the rest of my life." This is a place like that. View of mountains spectacular and even though we got it at a rainy and cloudy day it was incredible when the sun broke out a couple times. You have tables on balcony, at back if you want more forest and less view or you have these couple benches as in northern Germany so that you can have some privacy with your better half. It's a 1 hour drive from Vienna (would require a lot of walking from train station). Call and reserve room or table before just going there. Staff is wonderful and helpful. But it was a Sunday evening and all was closed, quite, silent. Therefore, we decided try that famous Knoll place, which is usually pretty busy ... and a bit posh. But I have to tel you, we have got the best experience. Great soups (a Fish Soup with safran, a Goose Soup with liver dumplings), Roasted Pork with Dumplings, a delicious Tafelspitz, and Plum Dumplings, hmm. All accompanied with a wonderfully fresh Gruener Veltliner Federspiel Knoll 2012. The pride of this restaurant is its spacy orchard garden, of course, but it was too late and too cold to sit outside. So we were inside this time, in a nice and clean, blue-green interier, with nice white tables. We will be definitely coming back. Thank you!

We had a beautiful sunny days open to some of the gardens. So that was wunderbar. However, let's be honest we are in Europe, so unfortunately some one was smoking, which took away from our experience. The schnitzel was great - two large pieces and withe the piping hot pomme frites - French fries - was a great meal. I recommend getting both types of mustards - senf, a sweet and a hot. Really nice complement to the hot and crispy frites. The Apple Strudel in cream sauce was a tasty treat and perfect end to a great meal. Highly recommend this meal and restaurant!

I decided to order to Tafelspitz and I was truly disappointed. This is one Austrian dish I absolutely love and they make it so well but, this place did is poorly. The meat was tender and nice but totally bland and flavour less. It was also so noisy here as there was a bus load of tourists stopping for lunch and it was chaos. This also affected the service quality and made the lovely atmosphere unpleasant. I would not make the mistake of coming here again. Down below in town there are many places to dine :-)

Since I was paying for a sauce for my fries, I opted for the fancy sounding herb sauce. Don't get the herb sauce as it is again, not horrible, but not good either. I severely regret not getting the ketchup. I hate to be negative, and I do appreciate that they were open late, but it just wasn't great so I give it a solid 3 stars. Idk what's going on with the 1 star review, but the staff were quite pleasant. If you're hungry and it's late, then eat here, but I think skip the value burger and avoid the fries as well as they didn't taste fresh. If I were to return, I'd try one of their specialty burgers and the onion rings.
