The playground has toddler play equipment and equipment for older kids. The toddler playground area has little sides, and lots of easy places to climb on. The older-kid playground has tunnel slides, a rock wall, fireperson pole, ropes and nets to climb, and a spherical climbing structure that spins. There are also swings, including a tandem swing where a toddler and adult can swing facing each other. The park also has a basketball court, a paved walking/strolling path that's circles the park that's about 0.3 miles, a restroom, a shaded picnic area, and shaded benches situated around the playground. I was most impressed by these shaded benches, because shade is often lacking at playgrounds. But the shade thing has been thought about here.

Parking is right out front so that's easy access. There is also a basketball court, soccer and football fields. There is also a trail around the entire park. My little ones enjoyed playing here and I also saw a building for restrooms which we did not visit. We will be returning.

My family reserved the shelter and there are several picnics tables and benches. It was a very hot day so the kids tired theirselves out at the playground and splash pad. It was very convenient and in good shape. There is a paved trail looping around park, which is good for walking or even bike riding. We saw a couple of walkers during our day. The restrooms are a bonus, but they could've been cleaner. The park wasn't crowded and the adjacent parking lot was another added bonus. My family liked the park, the location, and the amenities and will probably try to use it again next year.

The playground…read moreat Commons Park has the biggest climbing spinner that I've ever seen on a playground ... and my children and I have been to a lot of playgrounds! It could easily fit a whole classroom of children on it. The playground also has a huge geometric climbing system; a huge play structure with a bridge, steps and a climber; slides; swings for all ages; and lots of opportunities to climb and get the wiggles out. The playground area is padded with soft tiles for easy landings. One of the best features of Commons Park is that this park is completely fenced all the way around. This helps to give parents with kids who like to dash some peace of mind. And not only is the park fenced, but the park is small enough to see where your child is wherever they are playing, as you sit at any of the benches that are placed around the park. This park also has an area where you can play table tennis (bring your own paddles and ball!), as well as a barbecue grill. Commons Park has a lot going for it. And I'm glad that this space is being used as a park, instead of what it used to be (apparently, this space was the site of a motorcycle gang). The downsides of this park -- which sits in a residential neighborhood -- is that there isn't a designated parking lot for the park. Parking is on the street. The other downside is that there isn't a bathroom or water fountain. So parents and caregivers of young children: Plan accordingly!

It is a very colorful park, which is good given the lands history. They have park benches and a grill. There is a cement ping pong table, a huge jungle gym , cargo nets, ropes, a large merry-go-round, two sets of swings, a beehive climber and other equipment I do not know the name of. The ground of the playground is covered in the rubber surface that is popping up at most newer playgrounds. Your kids will love this park. The park does not have a private lot, but there is free street parking available on the street bordering the park. The park is relatively small, spanning about a quarter acre. The playground is fenced in, which is good because it it right off of a busy throughfare. Kind of keeps the little ones corralled in. There is only one way in and one way out. There is no restroom facilities or water, so plan accordingly. The park was once the site of the Outlaws Motorcycle Gang clubhouse before the city took over the property after its seizure by federal authorities. This is a very nice park. I had past the park a few times and it was packed. I really like it. It can definitely entertain the little ones for hours. It is surely worth a visit.

Thatcher, is a westside park that began as the Thatcher Community Center located at Grande Avenue and Cossell Road. That location proved to be in the way for a growing Allison Transmission - in 1974, the award-winning A.J. Thatcher building (Thatcher Family Center) was opened on 21.9 acres in its current location. This location includes sports fields, ample parking, a full gym, activity room, office space, and a deep diving and instructional pool. Thatcher Park was in the news recently because of a double shooting with one fatality. It's a rare crime in this park, however, as it's typically known as a serene location with an abundance of greenspace. Thatcher has a playground that is fairly wheelchair friendly, a walking trail, a basketball court, a weight room, and an indoor pool open year-round that offers open swim, swim lessons, and water aerobics. I've been on a bit of a nostalgia kick lately with my father's recent passing. I spent a good amount of time at Thatcher when I was a kid because it hosted a lot of sports programs for children with disabilities. I recall swimming, basketball, and other activities. I visited today, however, I have to say I was at least a little disappointed. The park seemed in some degree of disarray. The building seemed dirtier and in some disrepair. The playground was kind of cool with obvious accessibility options, however, it was also obviously somewhat overgrown. It wasn't awful. The green areas were still quite cool and the trail seemed rather nice. At least one shelter was in use and there were kids at the playground. I just thought it seemed very average. The good news, however, is that help is on the way courtesy of a nearly $1 million grant that will spruce up the park including a new and even more accessible playground, areas for 2-5 and 5-12, a walkway, and more. It should really improve the park. Thatcher is still right across from Thatcher Golf Course. Thatcher Park definitely has a lot of potential, however, it's also very much in need of the love it should be getting in the near future. While I have fond memories of my childhood activities here, today's visit left me kind of sad because Thatcher just seems a bit run down and I'm definitely hoping the planned updates will bring this once vital park back to life including, perhaps, a return to being a space for kids with disabilities to gather.

This is touted as Greenfield's very first inclusive playground. It is named in memory of the…read moregrandson of the city's mayor, Chuck Fewell. who passed away with a rare genetic disorder, Hunter's Syndrome. The park opened in June 2022 and is very, very nice. You will find this park just southwest of Greenfield Central Jr. High School and just off the Greenfield Baseball Park. There is more than ample parking available, but it could become tight during a baseball tournament though. One thing to keep in mind is that this is purely a playground. There is no green space, there are no trails, nor are there any tennis courts or basketball courts. I also did not see any restroom facilities, but that does not mean that they are not there. They have a decent sized picnic shelter with picnic tables under it. It is very nice. The play area has the rubbery mud free surface that is being used on most new playgrounds. The equipment is first class. There is a huge jungle gym with slides and a climbing net. There is a bank of swings with expression and traditional swings. You will also find congos, a saucer swing, a new age merry go round, and a sit and spin. Some of the equipment, including the jungle gym has a built-in shade and I love that they have placed benches around the play area where parents can sit and watch their littles. This inclusive playground features safety swings for children of all abilities, wheelchair ramps, and sensory stimulation such as musical instruments and roller-bar slides. It is first class and is in excellent shape. It still has that new car smell, so to speak. It is relatively small but has enough equipment to keep the littles entertained for s bit. This is a nice play option for those looking for a play space in Greenfield. I really like this playground and its inclusive theme. Many children with disabilities are left out of the planning of play spaces, but this one was actually designed with them in mind. I recommend checking this place out.

A circular trail leads from the parking lot through thick forest. The trail is wide but natural/unpaved. I found the trail muddy in spots. The Westfield Parks and Recreation people are actively managing invasive species in the Park. The Park includes 30 acres, mostly wooded that backs up to Eagle Creek. The land was donated to Westfield by a developer who bought the property from his friend, Raymond Worth. I like to learn about the people and the full story is on the Westfield Parks website. The park is a good place to walk a dog or ride a horse. There are no restroom facilities or water fountains. I saw plenty of parking. Wear bug repellent and bring water.

Sadly, I'll admit I didn't even really know about it until friends played a concert here. With space donated by the Hohlt Family, this is a pretty simple neighborhood park with playground equipment, a dome climber, a merry-go-round, and a field that often plays host to small concerts/musical events. Additionally, of course, Hohlt Park hosts the Rocky Ripple Festival. Additional facilities include sports fields, a shelter with picnic tables, and lots of greenery. This is by no means a high-end park and it's certainly not one I'd go out of the way to experience, however, if you're in the area it's a great place to stop, rest, play, or enjoy a picnic. Overall, I'd probably lean more toward a 3.5 here, however, I do think this park serves the Rocky Ripple area well and it's reasonably well maintained - so, I'm going with the 4-star. As a matter of note, this park does not fall under Indy Parks. When I was here, I encountered a handful of people who were friendly and the park was clean and felt safe to me.

The park has been known to hold community special events such as the Rocky Ripple Festival. The park has a nice pavilion with picnic tables under it and there is also a decent sand volleyball court with bleachers next to it. You will find a lot of green space here that is suitable for field sports such as football and soccer, or having a picnic, playing catch, or flying a kite. The park's playground is on a bed of wood chips and has your traditional equipment such as a merry go round, toddler and traditional swings, a 4-way see-saw, and a medium sized jungle gym with slides (straight and spiral), climbing nets and monkey bars. The park just recently replace it old dome climber with a new crab trap play structure. It is very nice. I found the park's picnic tables very neat. It looks like the legs were made from small tree trucks. They are pretty cool if you ask me. The park seemed pretty well maintained, especially considering there was not a trash can to be found and the amount of grass that has to be maintained. This is a nice park, but I will be the first to admit that is not a destination park and finds most of its usage from people from the adjacent neighborhood that live within walking or biking distance. It is a very nice park if you live in the area or just visiting the area and looking for a playground or place to hang out.
