Inside an old car assembly plant, this mixed use building offers a ton of options to linger about. Firstly, there are old cars displayed throughout the building to observe. There are some other old equipment there as well that I can't name. There are a few art installations of road signs that are outdoors, and then a lot of art studio spaces indoors have some of their works displayed on the outside. It's kind of fun to navigate the maze of the building to find everything. Retail wise, there is a plant store, a trinket shop, and an art supply shop, amongst others I'm probably forgetting as well. Food wise, you have Indy classics like Cafe Patachou and Amelia's bakery. There's also Turner's bar and Julieta Taco Shop. Again, amongst others I'm probably forgetting as well. The Stutz is a fairly large building and I have definitely gotten lost in there before. It is also a pretty cool event space, where they can have event pop ups like the Indy Indie Book Crawl. I know I've also been to a vintage market there too. Parking near the Stutz is mainly street parking around Capitol and 11th Streets as well as the parking lot across Capitol Street. It's also pretty easy to access from walking the Canal, taking the stairs up at the 10th street access points You can enter the Stutz itself at many different access points, but I recommend a stroll through some of the interior courtyards on your way in!

The stone center has continued to improve over the 23 years I have been coming here. When we first…read morebought our home, we had a gravel driveway that I refreshed and widened to double wide. We put in a circle drive, fire pit, and bocce ball court, all with stone from stone center. It seems they treat there employees right as faces seem to stay the same. Always on time deliveries and extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Outdoor stone projects are on display now throughout the yard, so you can walk on different stone options. I have a smaller truck and cannot always get the whole load in one trip, but they allow me to come back as many times as it takes. They really know how to work with you here and make you feel like coming back for more rock.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of CoHatch, a 30+ location network of co-working, community spaces…read morethat has been in existence for just under 10 years since its start by six friends in Columbus, Ohio. CoHatch, which has hosted at least a couple Yelp events that I can remember, currently has five locations in Central Indiana (a sixth, Circle Centre, I believe has closed). The locations include Polk Stables, Zionsville, Carmel, Noblesville, and this location in Broad Ripple. This location is housed in a former church (I know it used to be Common Grounds and I'm pretty certain it was at least one church before that). There's still some of the stained glass windows present. Managed by Jenna, whom I met during a Polk Stables Yelp event, this location seems to be quite busy. While I didn't get a chance to go around it as much as I'd have liked as I was here for an actual meeting, I was impressed with the decor, amenities, the people I met, and the efforts to make it accessible. Let's start there. Not every CoHatch location is truly accessible - they tend to locate in unique and often historic buildings. This can create challenges to true accessibility. This location has accessible parking in the back along with a ramp that goes up to one of the doorways. If you're not a member, you'll have to be let in. I wasn't completely thrilled with the end of the ramp - it's got a bit of a lip to it, however, the effort is obvious and it definitely works. The parking is also truly ADA compliant. I didn't notice all the businesses here, however, I did note that the Sagamore Institute maintains offices here. This location has the usual coworking spaces, a large event space, an outdoor area with a patio and kitchen, a sports simulator, and private offices. They have high-speed Wifi, coffee/tea options, meeting rooms (we used one to record an interview), 24/7 access, phone booths, office supplies, mailbox service, printing/copying, workshops for members, a kitchen, and an onsite manager. The neighborhood feels safe and is a pretty easy jaunt over to Broad Ripple's main strip. I like the decor, though found it a bit more plain than some of the locations. I think Polk Stables remains my favorite of the Central Indiana locations. This location is probably the closest to my home and it's definitely someplace I could see myself working. As someone who does a lot of social outreach/charity work, I definitely saw spaces I could bring to life here. I also did notice the restroom offered nice accessibility and there were some personal supplies in the restrooms - nice touch. I'd wanted to stop into this place and was pleased when I found out a meeting was going to be here. I finally got to check it out and was definitely impressed.

I liked that they had maintained the structure and tried to continue the architectural flairs and quiet spaces yet allowing for new design inside. It is used for various offices and you can either rent out an office space (small cubicle) or just work in one of the many co-work spaces. It was tasteful and expansive but also had several little nooks for a quieter space. There were outside spaces and even a Barbeque space that could be rented for parties or business outings. My meeting was a fun way to be exposed to this location and will definitely be returning to try out some of the other spots for meetings or work.

After having grown up on Indy's Northwestside and lived either there or downtown most of my life,…read moreI've spent the last 12+ years as a passionate and enthusiastic Eastsider. Now that I burned the mortgage papers on my home (Don't worry. I paid it off first!), it's pretty much established that I'm here to stay. There's an Eastside vibe that I really love that vibe really comes to life in Circle City Industrial Complex, a behemoth of repurposed buildings that weaves together the tapestry of life that I love about living on the Eastside including the industrial, the arts, the dedication to life, the creativity, the makers, the shakers, and the incredibly practical. I'll be honest and say that I initially avoided CCIC. It seemed intimidating, parking was confusing, and wheelchair access can be a little hit-and-miss in spots as different sections have gotten repurposed. I remember at one point attending a Yelp event here and thinking "This is exactly why I don't come here." It was, quite honestly, a bit of a pain in the butt for a wheelchair user. However, things continue to improve. And, perhaps more importantly, every time I come here I appreciate it and I enjoy myself. What can you find here? There's participation in the First Friday Art Walk. There's the delightfully spot-on Centerpoint Brewing - the first actual spot I visited here at CCIC. There's 8th Day Distillery, Fowling Warehouse Indy, Lick Ice Cream, SoChatti, New Day Craft. There's a myriad of artists. There's Dance Kaleidoscope. There's Glass Arts Indy. There's the Indiana Writers Center. There's Stitchworks, JK Guitar, Indy Fused Glass, and more. With over a half-million square feet, CCIC looks intimidating and is a little intimidating. There are four key entrances and it really is helpful to know the suite number of where you're going. The big entrance by Centerpoint primarily serves Centerpoint and its adjacent spots. There's a large parking lot across the street that provides key access to other entrances. Oh, and despite being industrial there is actually an elevator to the second floor. CCIC really is the foundation that spurred the growth of Windsor Park, a growth that has complemented the neighborhood rather than dominated it. Nearby spots like Kan-Kan, Brasserie, Amelia's, and others are adding even more personality and style to the area. I love that artists located here are actually required to participate in First Friday events. This really is a communal space and they work hard to keep that vibe. Did you know that CCIC has 60 protected artists' spots? This means they will only rent these spaces to artists (and they review portfolios!). There's so much to love here. They are currently updating the oldest section at 1101 Mass Avenue - a space planned to offer restaurant space, retail, and performance space. You can even tell in the design plans that accessibility will be vastly improved. If you've never checked out Circle City Industrial Complex, I highly recommend it. It's one of Eastside Indy's crown jewels.

We chose Indy Decorative Concrete because of their reputation and referrals and were initially very…read morehappy with the appearance of our patio. We truly loved it. It was beautiful the first year, with only a few scattered popouts. Unfortunately, our experience over the past three years has been disappointing. Within the 3 year warranty period, our patio began developing widespread popouts. We reported the issue during the warranty window, repairs were completed, and an additional $800 was paid to IDC during that process. Despite the repair, which we appreciated, the condition continued and worsened over the past year. Most recently, June 4th, while simply rinsing the patio with a garden hose, additional pieces of concrete broke loose from the surface, further increasing our concern about the patio's condition and long-term durability. After the warranty period ended, we requested another meeting to discuss the continued deterioration. During that visit, much of the discussion focused on the normality of this condition, with comparisons to our 20+ year-old driveway and repeated suggestions that salt or another product may have contributed to the damage. We explained that we do not use salt on the patio and that the only treatment applied to the surface was power washing and sealing completed by IDC. During this same meeting, we were also told the warranty may have been affected because we had only paid to have the patio professionally power washed and sealed by IDC one time during the three-year period, despite yearly sealing being an additional service at our expense. This was surprising to us, especially since the deterioration had already begun and was reported during the warranty period. When we asked whether customers should reasonably expect a properly installed patio less than four years old to deteriorate in this way, we did not receive an answer. We were offered an additional repair option at our expense, but were also told there was no prior experience showing whether the proposed solution would stop the issue long term. Because we wanted to better understand what we were seeing, we sought opinions from other concrete professionals. Based on those conversations, we have been told the condition appears likely to be ongoing and that repairs may require repeated maintenance and expense over time rather than a permanent solution. We were advised that patching and refinishing may improve appearance temporarily but would most likely not permanently stop future popouts. Complete tear out and repouring was recommended since repairs would be costly and temporary. We understand concrete can naturally have imperfections, and we never expected perfection. However, our contract references minor popouts, while what we are experiencing is widespread deterioration that began during the warranty period and continued after repair. Based on the condition of our patio, which is not yet four years old, along with the professional opinions we received, we do not believe this reflects normal concrete imperfections or the quality of work IDC promotes and are concerned something may have gone wrong with the original installation or materials. We are sharing this experience so future customers can ask detailed questions before signing. What level of deterioration is considered "normal" in the first few years? What does "minor popouts" mean? What happens if a repair completed during the warranty period does not resolve the issue? And what long-term solutions are offered if problems continue? We genuinely hoped and paid for a better quality product and wish this situation had been handled differently. We are left with a patio that is not quite four years old and continues to deteriorate.
