I was looking for a place to stay near Tobermory for the long weekend and almost every B&B was…read morebooked. I lucked out and was able to find vacancy at Orange Bicycle B&B. I stayed in the Atalya room. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. The bed and sheets were soft. I found the pillow to be a little too thick for my liking, but you can always ask Nick and Neda if you need anything different. The bathroom was huge and bright. The room has a flat screen TV, but I didn't use it. The window has a view of the garden, but it also has a view of Highway 6. At night, the room sometimes fills with light from cars turning off the highway. There is wifi available, but it's quite slow. There is a fairly large common living room where guests can use to get to know each other. You can often find Nick and Neda here in the evenings. They're very sociable and young at heart. It was fun getting to know them and their background. The foyer has a refrigerator where you can store your food items. There is also a water cooler and a coffee machine available for use. Neda uses Pinterest for inspiration for her breakfasts. She prepares the food the night before and cooks it in the morning. The breakfasts are IG-ready and are tasty and filling. Nick and Neda will talk to you while you're having breakfast and provide recommendations for what to do in the area. Neda also does photography, so you can look at her photos for inspiration. Nick and Neda do their best to keep everyone safe with masks and hand sanitizer available in the foyer. They maintain their physical distance. Overall, I had a great time at Orange Bicycle B&B. I'm looking forward to coming back.

I was wrong on both fronts. Nick and Neda certainly go above and beyond for their guests. Breakfast was served every morning at 8:30am. They were very helpful offering suggestions for daily activities and even picked us up after a 4hr hike from Little Cove Rd to the Grotto at Bruce Peninsula National Park. The bedroom and private bathroom are recently renovated. The shared living space is very comfortable and excellent for reading. If you're still on the fence. The morning coffee made with imported Italian beans and the bakery next door serving sandwiches and fresh baked goods should put it over the top.

I thought that would have been my…read morehighlight, and although it was gorgeous, my highlight was actually the Blue Heron Flowerpot Island Cruise. We bought our tickets online very easily. I had a couple of questions as we were bringing a dog, and since our trip was fairly short and I had never been there I had some questions getting around. The staff were really helpful when I emailed them. When we arrived in Tobermory it was easy to pick up our tickets. The staff told us about the various free lots we could use throughout Tobermory with our parking pass. We parked in the main lot near the ticket centre and used their free shuttle to get down to the dock. It wasn't too far away so you could easily walk as well. The cruise was spacious and had indoor and outdoor space. They spent a lot of time around the sunken ships which you could see from the glass bottom inside the boat, or standing outside. Then you're dropped off at Flowerpot Island. The island is absolutely gorgeous. There are lots of places to swim, hike, and enjoy nature. There is a little snack shop that sells chips and pop, but most people bring their own food and picnic. They give you about 4 hours on the Island which is the perfect amount of time to enjoy your day. You don't feel rushed, and you're also not dying to get off the island. If and when I get back to Tobermory, this trip will be at the top of my list.

Blue Heron is one of the two cruise companies in Tobermory that will take you to Flower Pot Island…read more Chose this one because it was ever so slightly cheaper than the other company and the times matched things we were planning to do. They have several options for boats - glass bottom, jet boat. Each has it's own schedules and pros and cons. There is also one boat that just does a boat tour - basically you don't get off on the island for this one, they just take you to see things and you stay on the boat - great for those who are unable to hike long distances but still want to see everything. Service: The people at the office were great - answered all our questions, kind and courteous. At the dock, people were also fantastic. Very clear instructions and safety content. Guides on the boats were informative, engaging and fun to listen to. Boats: We tried the glass-bottom boat on the way there which was great. They go over the shipwrecks and you can see them really clearly through the glass bottom. That ride was about 40-45 mins. Don't worry about fighting for a seat near the glass bottom - everyone just gets up and hovers around it anyway so hogging seats is pointless. Arguably, its better to explore the front of the boat or go to the top and then come to the glass bottom during the shipwreck portions. On the way back, we took the jet boat - super fast only 20 mins. I have a major tendency to get motion sickness but both these boats were travelling fast enough that I had no problems. Schedule: The boats come and go from the island and Tobermory fairly often. ProTip: You CAN hop onto an earlier return boat (doesn't even have to be the same boat you paid for) IF they have space. My group ended up finishing exploring the island an hour early before our scheduled departure - the Blue Heron employee told us we could join the standby line for the earlier boats - if there was space, they'd take us. There ended up being space and off we went - saving 1 hour of our time to explore other things in Tobermory. Parking: They provide free parking if you book with them. They have a main lot and a secondary one. We were early enough that we got into the main lot by their offices. Price: Since there are only 2 companies, it is pretty price-y. We paid over $50 per person for a round-trip. It would be nice if they came up with a family package or something since I could see it getting pretty expensive for larger families.

This family and friends run campground is definitely one of the best places to stay at if you're looking for a rustic, peaceful camping experience with a true backwoods feel while exploring the Tobermory area. The campground boasts a convenient office for check-in, store where you can purchase snacks, drinks, ice, firewood or borrow forks for roasting weenies and smores, and an indoor common area to enjoy your cuppa or read a book on a rainy day. The campground itself is fantastic. The treed campsites are naturally laid out, clean, spacious and well separated, giving you a feeling of privacy and allowing you to enjoy the natural surroundings. There is also a great variety of activities and interests on the property, from retired and rescued resident horses and heritage yaks that you can feed and pet to a hiking trail that leads to Driftwood Cove and the old Frank A. Rovers Estate with access to hike the Bruce Trail. Their knowledge of Tobermory and the surrounding area was incredibly helpful. They were able to provide recommendations for places to see, hike, swim, paddleboard, bike, eat, and shop, which helped me make the most of my trip even when my original plans had to change. A great campground is about more than clean sites and good facilities. It's also about the people who make you feel welcome, help when you need it, and genuinely want you to have a good experience. From my very first phone call, through my arrival, unexpected extended stay, and eventual departure, the staff were welcoming, polite, informative, caring and genuinely helpful. I honestly can't say enough about Harmony Acres Campground, what really sets them apart from other campgrounds, is the owner and staff. They went far beyond what I would consider simply being professional campground operators. My original plans included many physical activities and adventures. As it often happens with adventures, things didn't go quite as planned as I encountered a few challenges. On the second day of my vacation, I suffered an unexpected injury that resulted in a trip to the Hospital and a three to four day recovery. Then, as if that wasn't enough, my car battery died. What could have turned into a cancelled or very stressful vacation became a much more manageable experience because of the people at Harmony Acres. I really appreciate how accommodating, knowledgeable, and willing to help they were. It made a meaningful difference in my stay, and I am very grateful for the effort they put into helping me. Ethan was helpful from the very beginning. Before my arrival, he answered all my questions about the campground and he continued to provide information about the area. Tyler helped turn a stressful situation into a much easier one when my car battery died. His mechanical knowledge and willingness to help me get my car running again were invaluable. Wanda deserves recognition for keeping all the washroom and shower facilities clean and well stocked. The facilities were consistently cared for. Her attention to the care of others is unsurpassed. Laurie, the owner, was truly a lifesaver after my injury. She helped care for my wound and even provided an alternative bandage solution that I have since added to my first- aid/ emergency kit. Her knowledge of the local area and its history was also incredibly meaningful to me. She was able to provide additional information and stories that I can now take home and share with my family. I would absolutely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends, family, couples or anyone travelling on their own. Staff member assaulted my husband this morning by slapping the ferry slip onto his arm out of…read morefrustration over an email. Management handled it so poorly, police had to be dispatched to the dock. There was no accountability on their part to make the moment right. They lied through their teeth about what happened to cover for their employee. These people even had the audacity to ban us from getting on the ferry simply because we called the police on them. Horrible experience. I have never felt more disrespected and dismissed in my life.

Since the nearest parking to the Grotto was unavailable and completely booked for the upcoming 3…read moreweeks, we figured it would be fun to do the 2 hour hike to the Grotto from here. Upon arrival, we were told the parking was full and that it was better to come back 2-3 hours later. We turned around, drove for about 10 minutes and then came back to give our phone number to the employee so he could call us if any spots opened up. He immediately told us that it was OK for us to enter, since we were from Quebec and we drove about 9 hours to get to this place. Thank you to Jeff, the employee at the front desk for answering all of our questions, being very friendly and extremely helpful by letting us in!!!! The hike was totally worth it, the views are breathtaking, although you cannot enter the Grotto due to COVID. It was very relaxing, the water is at a lovely temperature as well, it is possible to swim on a sunnier day (just be careful because the rocks are slippery). There are bathrooms at the beginning of the trail. Bring your food with you, as well as water bottles since it's impossible to fill them up onsite.

i have camped across Canada and this is the stupidest campground I have encountered, private,…read moremunicipal, or provincially run. First, a 40 min wait in line to get the permit only to be told the I have to leave the campground to fill the water tank at the dumping station. No sign to indicate this outside the campground. Then a "ban" on alcohol and cannabis outside specific hours. (Not to mention a total "ban" on holiday weekends. They can't provide appropriate security so responsible adults suffer. The showers are ridiculous. You get to press the button twice for a weak stream of tepid water. And there is only one shower facility for the entire place. The site assigned is extremely small even though they claim it is suitable for my size trailer. Be very cautious with their website information! The setting is glorious. Well worth a day trip but you would be better at a provincial or private campground. This one is awful.
