Upon arrival, we were told the parking was full and that it was better to come back 2-3 hours later. We turned around, drove for about 10 minutes and then came back to give our phone number to the employee so he could call us if any spots opened up. He immediately told us that it was OK for us to enter, since we were from Quebec and we drove about 9 hours to get to this place. Thank you to Jeff, the employee at the front desk for answering all of our questions, being very friendly and extremely helpful by letting us in!!!! The hike was totally worth it, the views are breathtaking, although you cannot enter the Grotto due to COVID. It was very relaxing, the water is at a lovely temperature as well, it is possible to swim on a sunnier day (just be careful because the rocks are slippery). There are bathrooms at the beginning of the trail. Bring your food with you, as well as water bottles since it's impossible to fill them up onsite.

First, a 40 min wait in line to get the permit only to be told the I have to leave the campground to fill the water tank at the dumping station. No sign to indicate this outside the campground. Then a "ban" on alcohol and cannabis outside specific hours. (Not to mention a total "ban" on holiday weekends. They can't provide appropriate security so responsible adults suffer. The showers are ridiculous. You get to press the button twice for a weak stream of tepid water. And there is only one shower facility for the entire place. The site assigned is extremely small even though they claim it is suitable for my size trailer. Be very cautious with their website information! The setting is glorious. Well worth a day trip but you would be better at a provincial or private campground. This one is awful.

It also depends on what you think a national park should be. As far as my opinion, it should be viewing beautiful sights and seeing animals. Serenity. This is not that. At all. If you think a national park should be a splash down water park, you're gonna love it. But you've got people walking the trails yelling at each other. You have people playing music loudly on the trails, as if they need their own personal theme song guiding them on their way. I even saw a Québécois stranger holding a dog in one hand, little child in another, walking in sandals at the Grotto on slick rock formations, jumping from one to the next. It was a disaster waiting to happen. It truly was an unpleasant experience. Look, the park tries to manage it. You have to reserve spots at both the Grotto and Halfway Log Dump. You have to pay a substantial fee to reserve as well. There are checkpoints going in like you're at Panmunjom on the Korean border. But it doesn't matter. There are still too many people. I think it is just too close to Toronto. My recommendation to anyone wanting a more peaceful national park experience would be to go to northern Ontario and visit Pukaskwa. Or even Lake Superior Provincial Park. They are both what I would want out of a park. I hate saying this, but I'd avoid the peninsula altogether.

one of the better parks I have been to, but the orientation is a bit weird…read more the park is literally split up by the falls with no choice but to walk all the way around if you want to see the park on both sides. the park it self is very beautiful during all times of the year, and in the summer time is very popular for swimming, with people diving off of some of the falls that have formed. this location is also great for walking and for just seeing nature at its best, wildlife and the forestry. bring some food to feed either the fish or the ducks or both! parking is enforced at this park pretty strictly, when we entered there was a ranger inspecting vehicles, and when we were leaving same thing. pretty happy I came here, and I would love to come back, especially in the fall or even the winter months.

Campground is peaceful, quiet and everyone is so friendly. We were on 61B which was one of the River Campsites Spent most of the days relaxing in the river, exploring the great trails, enjoying the beautiful park. We got one of the last campsites…read moreavailable for the week that we wanted when I booked, so we were placed in the front end of the campground across the main road by the beach! The front site which was great because the park has no entry after 11pm thru the front gate so we could have come and go as we pleased, as we didn't have a gate. The front spots didn't have a bathroom close, so it was a little walk which was fine, we had the sky full of stars to look at on our way. This is a family style campground and it's so great that there is no late night partying and loud noise after 11. Wish the 2 washrooms in the campground had more than 1 shower facility but the wait was never too long. We had a great time, we heard wolves howling, fed chipmunks, went fishing, swam in the lake and relaxed.

WiFi just worked at site 60 which was nice to have. There is a nice wooded camping section which I visited but chose the sunnier area for my solar panels. Close to town so I could bicycle there ~2.5-3.0 miles and not have to pay for parking in town. I would stay here again in the off season.

Stayed at the dark sky preserve for 3 nights and 4 days over Canada day long weekend…read more After 2 nights without much view of the stars, we were told that the sky is the clearest around 1-3am to see the stars. So we set an alarm on our last night to wake up at 2am and saw the sky was filled with stars - absolutely beautiful! Dark sky preserve has several spots you can pitch your tent. Each spot comes with a cooking table (where you can place your portable stove or grill) and a picnic bench. No campfire allowed at all times. No white lights allowed after dark. There's summer kitchen equipped with BBQ grill, stove and cooking utensils; flush toilet; sink; Eco shower (where you have to hold down the line for the water) at the main office site (5 mins drive from dark sky preserve) Reason for 3 stars - the bug situation was unbearable by our tent. The worst part is not being allowed to have campfires there, which will help with getting rid of them..
