Hesitantly, he said that the whole sidewalk would have to be taken out and redone. He showed me how the sidewalk would have puddles after rain right where people got out of their car. This gentlemen asked what the landscape was like previously, and I told him it was totally clear and I had 3 loads of top soil brought in and the yard was grated. He pointed out how the sidewalk around the entire house slanted in towards the house, instead of directing water away from the house. He showed me how the sidewalk should have been elevated somewhat so as to hold back mulch from one side of the walk and provide an edge for grass on the other. It was obvious that he was correct on both as mulch was getting mixed in with the gravel, and grass was already creeping on to the sidewalk. He even suggested that pavers that looked like bricks would have been a better choice as it would have provided the extra height that the walkway needed. He put his finger into the gravel and said it would not hold up for even 2 or maybe 3 years. (This was in the front of the house where the fines were not properly tamped down.) And if that wasn't bad enough he showed me how he would have quoted the job and it was 30% of what I paid Elite Landscaping and Design! If you're not sure of Mr. Pucket's work, just read his contract. Every single word slants in his favor and NOTHING is written to provide protection to the customer. The contract even states that they can take back with them any unused materials from the work-site... the materials that YOU just bought and paid for, so they can sell them again!
