The only thing is, you have to get here early as they don't really stock up quite so well on the pie and it tends to be gone if you don't get here before about two o'clock. But I suppose that if you would want a larger amount or a specific type of pie, that you could put an order in. Because the pieman delivers here every morning. I love the fact that most of the tapas between the cheeses and meats are vegetarian. They have tapenades, olives, sundried tomatoes, cheese stuffed pimento peppers and all kinds of salads with egg and cheese. Love! And that's just the "fresh" stuff, they also have a huge wall with bottles and jars stuffed with other delicious goodies. Also a lot of local (really just Dutch) products which is great! I had been here before already, but that day they had nothing really. I suppose you have to be here on time if you want to be able to eat something. Today however, they were fully stocked so we had enough to choose from. We bought some Waldorf salad, vegetarian pasta salad, chicken "vinkjes" (kind of mini meatloaf) and some new potatoes. The vegetarian salad is tasty, le boyfriend enjoyed his Waldorf and chicken, but the new potatoes were nothing special. Also the potatoes were just slightly overcooked which is a shame. I suppose I'd come back here, but only if my wallet is feeling a bit fat and needs some trimming down. ;) Update: everything with chicken was best the same day, but the veggie pasta salad was super yum after two days! Also inspired me to spruce up my own pasta salad recipe. ;)

The smell when you walk into the shop is divine!…read moreYou can definitely smell that the cocoa is processed from bean to end product in the back of the shop which you can see through the glass wall. Cacao has a reasonably small collection of products in my opinion but it seems to grow every time I come here, so that keeps me happy of course. I do feel that everything here is outrageously overpriced though so I really only ever come here to buy a special gift or have a SMALL serving of there hot chocolate. Really, just get the small one because this liquid heaven is heavy. So a quick note to the people I know, you must be really, extremely special to me if I bring you something from cacao!

On a busy Saturday afternoon I don't want to have to walk through half the city to go to a (probably empty) ATM. I want to be able to get some cash at the store where I'm already purchasing something but sadly van Delft is one of the few businesses left who are not willing to accommodate customers' cash requests even though they accept both cash and cards so it shouldn't be a problem for them at all.
