I stumbled upon this hidden Ethiopian restaurant. It had an absolutely beautiful indoor aesthetics. Definitely different contrast from the outside vs. inside. Soft music playing, gorgeous paintings, the decor was very authentic to the culture. SERVICE: I noticed that the waitresses there were efficient, and patient, but appeared nonchalant. No smiles, no personality....I just attribute it to cultural differences. All of the other guests there were Ethiopian too. I got a lot of stares (out of place). FOOD: I ordered the injera with the beef tips and vegetables. It was so good. I'm not a big fan of injera (I hate the texture), but the meat was well seasoned. I wish I would've had it cooked HARD (dark in color). Nonetheless, it was very good. Overall experience: 9/10. It was definitely a nice vibe with relaxing music, the bar area was STACKED, and it was a spacious place. Additionally, there was a small stage (drum set and band). This is my go-to spot for Ethiopian food in the area. The injera is perfectly spongy and soft. I've only tried the vegetarian options so far (~$15), usually getting the red lentils (meser wot), collard greens (gomen kitfo), split peas (kit alecha), or cabbage. Most dishes definitely have a kick to it, but the flavor is undeniable! I definitely want to try some of their beef and lamb dishes. I've only come for takeout, but they do have a small stage for live music which plays on Tues, Thurs, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting at 9pm (for those night owls). I have no issues with service. I've learned what type of service is to be expected at Ethiopian restaurants, and I've always been taken care of here. I've been a customer here before and usually enjoy the food, but my most recent experience was very disappointing. I ordered raw kitfo for takeout which I've had from this restaurant in the past and they gave me a fully cooked version instead. I confirmed during ordering that I wanted it raw, so this wasn't a misunderstanding. When I called to explain the issue, I was told that "medium rare is how we do it," even though that's not what I ordered. They offered to replace it, but only if I drove back after I had already gone 12 miles home. That's not realistic for a takeout order, and it felt dismissive rather than helpful. To make things worse, the portion size was noticeably smaller than what I've received before for the same dish. Overall, the quality control and customer service fell short of expectations. I really hope management takes this feedback seriously consistency and communication matter, especially for loyal customers who drive a distance to support your business. read more

Langano Ethiopian Bar & Restaurant - White Oak Neighborhood Disappointing Experience at Best!!! We visited Langano Ethiopian Bar & Restaurant in Springfield, MD, on Sunday, September 7th 2025, to celebrate a high school reunion organized by a our event planner for our group of over twelve friends and alumni members. A table with a perfect view of the live band had been reserved in advance, but upon arrival, that same manager who reserved that preferred table and confirmed the reservation informed our planner that the table had been sold to another group. Our party was instead seated in a cramped corner partially blocked by posts, obscuring the band despite paying for a premium reservation. As an apology, the manager offered an additional nearby table. Unfortunately, what started as a goodwill gesture turned into a frustrating experience. The manager and assigned server staff repeatedly attempted to offer additional services to inflate the final charge, which coincidentally appears that the staff intentionally approached some members of the party that had had been consuming hard liquor and were unaware of the agreement the Manager had with our event planner. After sharing our experience with a few locals, we learned this location has a pattern of overcharging unsuspecting customers where they will inflate charges to generate unjustified income. If you plan a group gathering, beware and learn from our experience!!Definitely not recommended for group events or celebrations! We have them one Star because of very poor management read more

I went to have one drink after work at Langano White Oak. i was given a warning this place is a rip off after some time and they add up prices. i said i will have only one drink. I was charged for one stella beer $20 which is usually 5.25. they told me it is special, there is an artist and all that damn excuses. I told them I don't care about an artist just charge me the usual beer price. they refused and charged me $20 for one beer. There is no good faith in this place. We ordered: 4*Veggie Combo: can't go wrong with a variety of vegetables. Must order dish for me. 4*Fish Gulash: fish cubes were fried. Mixed with vegetables. 5*Lamb Girgiro: it can be very spicy! This is probably one of the best restaurants in the area. get the veggie platter. Get the engu special.

I placed an order for delivery from their site and paid over $80.00 for a delivery because it was multiple foods. The driver picked up the food from the restaurant and never delivered. Mind you we spend a lot of $$ with this establishment over years at both locations and the owner knows who we are. Granted majority of the fault was the driver. We called the restaurant to explain what happened the lady stated to contact the driver "we have nothing to do with this". Then we asked to speak with the owner to assist with the refund my money she refused to get him on the phone. I was so upset I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. We really like to support local businesses but they really don't care about the long term customers that will keep their business going. That was the last time we've ordered food from this restaurant. It's sad cause their food is really good. We've also eaten at the restaurant, yuh walk in and there's crap in the entrance then when you go to the restroom it's filthy. Never again read more

I am a little confused about the 2 star review because this place is clearly underrated. We tried almost everything that has meat and we loved it all, especially the "Dereq Tibs". The kitfo and the dulet filet was ok, we didn't like it raw so we had them cook it. The customer service was amazing, the ladies were attentive, explained everything well and suggested great options. And I forgot that they make an amazing latte too, go check them out. Don't let the ratings deter you from giving this place a shot. read more

I went there after an entire week of raving about this restaurant.. I went with my boyfriend and it was my birthday dinner. We sat, server was nice but clearly uneducated on the entire drink and food menu. Her recommendation was horrible and every question I asked it was "give me a moment let me check" ... They didn't have what I came for so I had to get something else. I tried their engu special & gored... she put it on the table, I tried both, IMMEDIATELY WAS DISAPPOINTED. She seen my expression I told her to take the food back I'm not eating it... it's almost embarrassing that they are open.. both were extremely unseasoned, there was no flavor or damn spice. The sides I asked for she never ever brought out. My boyfriend was underwhelmed but had to eat bc we were drinking. I was so damn disgusted and disappointed... the bill comes and she didn't remove one item it was over $100 which we paid. It was a waste of money. The food was trash, the service was equivalent to Wendy's ... anyways, do NOT go, I recommend fairland or down town silver spring restaurant. THIS PLACE IS TRASH! Updating to add what other things we tried and really liked. They had the three meat and veggie combo available at Saturday lunch and we had misir wot, gomen and a potato/carrot veggie that was delicious. For meats we had lamb stew (pretty good, not very spicy unless you eat the jalapeño chunks), doro wot, and michat abesh (sp) which is a ground beef curry similar in heat and spice to doro wot, really good. I would eat any of these again. Still want to try the gored tibs though, they were out today. They get a good crowd at lunch, so clearly aren't hurt by the few yelpers who have slammed them. Visited Langano Ethiopian restaurant with my mom. We ordered the veggie platter and fish. First, the place is beautifully decorated and arranged. Our server took our food at good timing and we received our food at proper timing. The food was so good! I love Ethiopian food a lot and loved how Langano made it! It wasn't oily or overcooked. Aww yeah, first to review! This place seems to be a new branch of Langano on Georgia Ave? I did not verify this tho. It's in the White Oak shopping center, a spot which is turning out to have plenty to offer. The place is large, clean, and full of seating -- they are ready for customers in a big way. There's TVs in the bar area. I got the veggie combo, of course, but the menu had some terrific other options such as Dulet. Service was considerate and pretty rapid. This place is especially serious about providing vegan options, including a thing in my veggie combo that was made out of tofu but tasted like eggs. The combo had a lot of different things on it, more than the menu listed. All were delicious. I highly recommend this place! read more

I ordered by phone for pickup. During the order, I indicated that I had never ordered from there before, told them I had taken a picture from their onsite menu, and asked questions about the dishes. I was asked if I wanted American or Ethiopian injera. We like authentic, so I said Ethiopian. During pick up, my husband, unknowingly, was overcharged $9. I called about the overcharge and was told that the $9 was for 3 Ethiopian injeras ($3 each) because it was gluten free. First off, there was one injera in a plastic sleeve, the rest was the normal injera in the dishes themselves and secondly, I was not told about the upcharge or asked how many I would want. The woman who answered the phone when I called about the overcharge was not the one who took my order, but did tell me that I should have known there would be an upcharge. How? She noted that it was listed on the menu- I did find it under sides ethio-injera $3. Again, if injera comes with the meal, why would I think to look at the sides? A business should notify you of upcharges. I have asked for the manager to call. The food was good and before this issue I would have ordered from them again. However, there are many really good Ethiopian restaurants in Silver Spring. At least a dozen within a 10 minute drive. I can take my business elsewhere. read more

Horrible service...terrible wine menu...food subpar. Servers were all over the place and not attentive. We continued to ask people for something as simple as another glass of wine. It took 13 mins to pour a 2nd glass of wine. Food was luke warm by the time it FINALLY arrived! This, btw, was my second visit. We thought we'd try again...service was horrible the first time too.
