I looked at the surf supplies and another clerk immediately asked if I needed assistance. The fishing gear is unbelievable. And kayaks, they carry everything. I could have spent all day in there. They rent surf boards, paddle boards, bikes and sell fishing licenses and can even set up fishing charters. They are locally owned. They offer free parking. I'll be back on my next visit to Surf City.

In looking around for places that might have a good supply of fishing needs, we found The Rod & Reel Shop along the main causeway strip before the bridge going over the bridge to the beach (that big street sign helped). Inside, they have just about every piece of fishing equipment, rods/reels, tackle, and accessories one may need, definitely a good selection. We found all the necessities needed for fishing that would do the trick without breaking the bank. Above all, the staff there were delightfully pleasant, helpful, and wanted to make sure we found what we needed...they were so friendly! On this point alone I'd say they get a great review. Only ding I can find that would be a 4.5 stars technically is that the bloodworms for bait were pretty expensive here but they had some shrimp that was just what was needed bait wise. I ordered a Quantum spinning reel just like the one that I purchased at Bass Pro Shop for $71.00 inc tax. The same exact reel from Sportsman's Wholesale was $37.00 inc shipping saving me $34.00. I ordered it on a Saturday and it arrived the following Friday morning just as it was stated in the purchase agreement.
