Stay away from this dentist! The office staff will hold you and your children hostage until you pay up front regardless of your insurance coverage. The office staff lied about filing a pre-authorization with my insurance provider and provided an "estimate" of patient responsibility that was +50% higher than what was actually covered by my insurance. 4 business days after my child's treatment we provided the EOB (explanation of benefits) to the office staff and they refused to even look at it and insinuated that the EOB was made up rather than a genuine document from the insurance provider. Based upon the EOB, we requested an immediate refund of the grossly inaccurate overcharge the office staff demanded on the day of treatment, but the office staff said they would not provide a refund until they were paid in full by the insurance company. When we asked to speak with the dentist, we were told that he was not available. The dentist and this office staff are not customer focused, do not have integrity, and should be avoided by the community. There are plenty of pediatric dentist in the area, and we would highly recommend that you do not use Lantzy Children's Dentistry. read more

After getting a second opinion from a dentist we go to now currently, we went ahead with Dr. Lantzy's treatment plan but I have never been talked down to more by anyone but this man. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a woman or a minority. We have seen a pediatric dentist in the Boston area before moving to TX and was told that somehow during my pregnancy, my child would have some dental problems. Before asking me any questions, Dr. Lantzy straight out told me that I should stop putting my toddler to bed with a bottle. First of all, my kids never took a bottle as they were breastfed. Secondly, our three-year-old drank from sippy cups but not bring them to bed. If his bedside manners haven't changed and you want a professional to be condescending, this is your place. I hate writing negative reviews, but I feel the need to share because, despite other reviews I read, I ignored my gut. Dr. Lantzy is, upon initial meeting, very personable and welcoming. But please know, if you would like to question his plan, laughing gas, or anything of that nature, you will get pushback and a very different treatment. We have 4 boys, 3 of which needed treatments, and all were quoted for laughing gas, at $140 each. Our boys have all done dental procedures without laughing gas and had no issues in the past so I just wanted to have a conversation to see if it was absolutely needed. The cost of their laughing gas alone for all 3 boys was more than all their dental work. I was brought into a separate office with Dr. Lantzy and another lady both facing each other on laptops, very little eye contact with me. His stance and tone were not one of "let's have an open dialogue" but more of a defensive one. As a mom, pediatric nurse and former child life specialist, I am a strong advocate for listening to parents. Medical staff may know medical knowledge, but at the end of the day, parents/caregivers know their children best so their voices should be heard and validated. I was just hoping to dialogue with Dr. Lantzy, but instead I was spoken down to and essentially told how to parent my child. He asked why I would even bring money into this when it's my child, which, upon further research, most other pediatric dentists locally charge anywhere from $40-$75 for laughing gas, not like $140 here, and several practices don't mandate kids use it. He then compared me questioning laughing gas to me questioning getting the flu shot for my kids, which isn't the same thing at all. His bedside manner was so discouraging and enough to make me know we wouldn't feel comfortable here and my voice as a mom wouldn't be heard, especially if I questioned anything. I have one son that I know would struggle with laughing gas due to sensory issues, but he questioned that too. He could've said, "Thanks for sharing your concerns. I know these procedures can be costly and difficult, but I promise you're in good hands and laughing gas will ultimately help everyone involved." But unfortunately that wasn't the case. To add, I had brought one of my sons in his office who honestly wasn't nervous to start as he'd done this before. When I said I wanted to involve my son he said, "This isn't a conversation between you, me and your son. It's between you and me, and I have the final say as the dentist, and we're doing laughing gas." He also said I was making my son nervous because I told him too much about the procedure, and in the future, I shouldn't tell my kids what is happening or involve them because it makes them nervous and the dental staff jobs harder. The less I tell him the better. I'm going to tell my kids what is developmentally appropriate for their age. Plus, I'm their mother, and I think I have a better pulse on them. My son later told me he was acting shy and nervous because the dentist was making him feel uncomfortable with our conversation. All in all, I'm sad this was our experience, but hopefully it was a good learning opportunity for everyone involved. While I'm sure his work is great, his bedside manner was enough to make us terminate our care at the practice. read more

I have been bringing my daughter to Dr. Lantzy for about 4 years and it's been a great experience every time. My daughter is very sensitive and scared of coming to the the dentist (who doesn't LoL) but Dr. Lantzy and his team always know how to calm her down and get the work done. I took my daughter there a little over a month ago because my daughters normal dentist couldn't get her in for a limited exam right away. when she was seen they didn't even take any x-rays of there own and called the other office to get x-rays and the tooth that was bothering her was fine, it was just her baby tooth next to the tooth needed to be pulled. So after the dentist said that he was looking around in her mouth and told me two of her lower teeth needed to see a endo dr or and oral surgeon right away! That she can pull both of her permit teeth and just let her wisdom teeth grow in the help replace them. I asked how that can be since a few months ago the just needed a filling, and he replied that it was my fault for not making sure her teeth and made me feel like a horrible paren! I left there feeling horrible and like it was my fault when I know I make sure she brushes her teeth. That day after I saw them I called her regularly dentist and made a appointment. Today we went and did a full exam and cleaning and the dentist said she just has two fillings and and ext the baby tooth. so long story short, that if I leased to him my 10 year old daughter would have had two permanent teeth ext for no reason! not including the amount of money we would have paid!! you can't tell what is wrong with a tooth without looking at a x ray! the way he made me feel no parent should feel! I don't think I could find a single bad thing to say about Dr. Lantzy, his staff or his office. We've been over there for about four years now and my kids just LOVE going to see him! We've been in on several occasions between cavities and tooth injuries on my two kids. Even after having fillings and three teeth pulled in his office my son still loves it there! They really are excited to go to the dentist. They have always treated us fairly and taken great care of us. They do a good job of working us in when something goes wrong and they know so well how to work with children! We appreciate this great dentist and office! read more

I had written a previous positive review of Dr. Lantzy as years ago he returned my call on the after hours line when my son hit his tooth and it was loose. We started using him from then on. Well, fast forward to about 10 years later as they were teenagers. So, that's about 10 years of visits for two children. Most of the visits were just fine and didn't think twice about anything. Then, just last year I went to my scheduled appt and noticed higher fees than normal and an xray fee. He was charging us alot more for xrays and other things. I had always said I only wanted xrays once a year. The front attendant said I couldn't be seen unless he got xrays. I said why and that I only wanted them once a year. She said my one son was flagged as having an area of tartar build up and he had to be xrayed each time. So, while this went on for over 15 min of her trying to explain this bogus policy we've never heard of in 10 years, she said if you don't go in now we have to cancel. I said please show me my records where this was stated to me somewhere and please print them out for me. I went home and was shocked to find that I was being charged for xrays every 6months against my wishes. They take the kids in another room and it's so small that parents usually don't go in unless they are really little, etc. I'm sure it's all on the bill but never realized what I was being charged for. So, I went home and highlighted each child and their fees over the years...WOW! I know inflation brings prices up but couldn't believe how much each charge had increased. When I asked the front end worker, she didn't give much of an explanation besides it's policy. So, then we started emailing back and forth. I basically got that the policy made him have to have xrays because that area was flagged in his mouth as one to watch. She quoted me the policy and all it says was that it was recommended but not mandatory. I called that to her attention. She basically replied, oh well that's the policy. I called out how the dentist never called me to tell me this. That they just sent me packing at the front counter after my 15 min. timeframe was up. I asked for the dentist to call me again...never got that call. I brought up in the email chain how I've never heard of such terrible customer service after 10 years of being a client of the business. It was just absolutely nothing from the front end worker's replies. Never heard from dentist, never got a call, etc. So, you can see where at one time I was saying positive things about Dr. Lantzy and now I have nothing good to say at all. But being that I work in customer service everyday...I would have never let this happen. It could have simply been fixed by someone calling me or better yet, pulling me aside while I was there for my appt and explain things. Maybe I would have been like...OK that's fine and gone in to the appt...but no word or rudeness or hiding behind email is not the way to win over clients. I do NOT recommend Dr. Lantzy at all to anyone. There are a ton of other dentists that would love your business. I got my records and took both of them to my dentist in Keller. read more

He is not honest.....We went in for a infected tooth cavity for my son..They hand me 6500.00 treatment plan and another 1500.00 for anesthia for a 10 year old and said my insurance plan wont cover it, ....So I got 2nd opinoin and low and behold my son had the infected baby tooth pulled and 2 cavities filled and it was covered....it was 30 dollars out of pocket....I advise anyone to go somewhere else,Honest review of this practice....... read more

We've been going to Dr. Lantzy since my son was getting his first few teeth. My 18 month old daughter is also a patient now. They both love going to the dentist to get their teeth clean. The office is so kid friendly- full of toys, Disney movies to watch, fun sunglasses and prizes for a good checkup. It's a wonderful place to go, especially if your little one is anxious about their first visit. So many smiling faces and wonderful staff! We've been so pleased. My son has been going to Dr Lantzy now for a couple of years. His office is is actually a little ways from us. Especially since we have a children's dentist less than half a mile away. We love his service so much we're actually willing to make the drive. He and his staff are so professional and go above and beyond to making my son (8 yrs) feel comfortable sitting in his chair. Rather it be for a cleaning or a tooth extraction. Today my son had a tooth extraction, spacers, and a cap put on. Quite the extensive work for anyone much less an 8 year old. That being said it's 9:30 and Dr Lantzy just called personally to see how Madden was feeling. The pricing was itemized which I liked. And no where in the itemized pricing did I feel like we were being taken advantage of. I wasn't paid to write this review, I wasn't asked to write this review. I wrote it because it's deserving. My Asian wife took my half white, half asian daughter here for her 3 year old checkup. She had her first set of X-rays, and the front ones went well. When she had the second set, at the back, she became fussy, as biting down on the X-ray plastic is painful. The lady doing the X-ray became increasingly frustrated and walked out saying. "Well, she obviously doesn't understand a word of English". I was away for the week on business and came home to my daughter saying "daddy, I don't understand English". I left a voicemail asking for someone to call me to discuss this as they were closed for a week. I received a phone call from the finance lady who was apologetic and told me that i would be contacted as soon as the office reopened, on the following Monday. Monday morning came, with no call, at 11:30 i went in to speak to them. Eventually i spoke to the office manager and the Dentist, and was told it was not in any way racist, it was more a "decision tree" and that they were determining if my daughter was able to understand English, When I suggested that that would have been believable if she had asked my wife "Does your daughter understand English?" rather than "She obviously doesn't speak a word of English" He said "if you are looking for a fight...." i explained that i was not, i was merely looking for an explanation. His response was that i should sign the release forms to get my daughters records so we can find another Dentist. I can only assume that they have so many patients that they can pick and choose which ones they want, and if you raise a concern, all they care about is getting rid of you. If you want to go to a place that blindly tells you things are covered by insurance when they are in fact not, go here. You will be getting calls from debt collection places. And don't bother calling the office to get them to help because they will not. I took two kids here for a cleaning covered at 100% every 6 months. I told them I did not want to do x rays twice a year because it seemed excessive. They said they prefer to do them and that insurance will cover them. I eventually gave in because they said they needed them and it was "free." Now here I am getting calls from a debt collection agency after speaking with the office manager who I thought was going to take care of it. Just one more place milking the insurance and the customer for every dime even when its not needed. And for the record, my kids didn't have one cavity and no trouble areas so I am not even sure why they pushed them so strongly after just six months. read more

Dr Lantzy and his "dental" staff is great. His office staff in particular the office manager ruins the great service that the Dr provides. She is sarcastic and not someone who should be answering the phones there! Moving to another dentist just because of his administrative staff! Disappointing! My son has autism and we began seeing Dr. Lantzy a few years ago. Initially we were really impressed with the care and attention to making our son comfortable. Today we had a hygenist that not only told my VERY literal, VERY anxious child that he had bugs in his mouth she continued to show him repeatedly how he should be brushing and continued rubbing a toothbrush around his already sore gums. He told her "ow" and made noises to indicate pain and she simply said, "oh you're just being silly". I asked her to stop the cleaning. We'd been there nearly 45 mins (not easy for a child with autism) when the doc came and proceeded to chastise my parenting for not getting my sons teeth brushed at night (you know, after work and ABA and OT and PT and Speech and Psych appts...ensuring that a child exhausted from the day brush his highly sensitive mouth with paste that makes him nauseated) I nodded and he told me he didn't believe I would do what was best for my son. I could see my son visibly shaking from anxiety and cold and asked that we please go...dr wanted to know what was wrong. When I tried to quietly whisper to him what the hygenist had already put my son through he told me I could sign papers to have my son transferred to another dentist. Not sign at all that he was concerned my son had been upset and hurt and made to feel even more anxious about the dentist at the hands of his staff. HIGHLY disappointed. read more
