"Smells like sandalwood in here. I wonder if incense is burned daily. Smells nice." - My initial…read morethoughts the other night while I stood in line trying to get a city sticker before the Midnight cut off. The wait was extremely long and I was lucky to score a sticker just before midnight. The day was long and tedious for their staff which towards the end of the night, they dropped to a single attendant. Why?? Who knows. But in that time a few other revelations came to mind, first and foremost that the clean smell I had already gotten used to was not sandalwood! Oh travesty.. it was Pine-Sol or some other generic brand. Another revelation was that this location happens to be a hub for Western Union customers, which increased my wait time significantly. If needing currency exchange services, it's wise to call ahead and have questions ready. Like; is your credit card machine working? (Because it wasn't when I visited and to pull cash at their "foreign market" ATM service it was a $2.95 charge.) How long is the line presently? and how many windows may be available when I arrive at such and such a time?

Lady at the counter looked out for me. She told me all she could do was sell me a new city sticker, but the city offices could do a $5 transfer. Saved me a whole bunch of money. She also told me I have a 30 day grace period to get it updated.

So, I realize the time is now when I receive an email less than two days before the end of September.. Seriously, WTH! Snail mail is faster!? Who the heck is in charge of these damn emails! So.. after a recuperative, lazy, funday Sunday I chose to hit Currency exchange. Thank goodness for 24 hour locations. All day other locations were full of people. I would wager that other Chicagoans also got their reminder emails late. So, I waited till the middle of the night and hit this location. It is so dirty in here. Brightly lit which is great to keep the wacky folks away. The lights are so bright you can see all the grime on the walls, the floors, the aerial splatters of grime. It's all there. Evidence of a dirty room but I digress.. It's a currency exchange and what seems to be a source of quick cash for the common citizen. Don't have a bank account? No worries, they'll cash it for you and take a nice cut in the process. Currency exchanges can also process a number of other services for people lacking the ability to stay on track/time with their payments. All for a fee of course. It is what it is. There are many services available and for a full list, it's wise to call. But, they don't often answer quickly. I was there for a city sticker and that's what I got. I didn't experience any of the crazy stuff mentioned in other reviews, though that did alarm me and was extra cautious. Luckily there was one ahead of me that took quite a while cashing a check. But when it was my turn the cashier was courteous and I walked out of there, sticker in-hand. If buying a state or city sticker, cash is king and will save you on additional fees. FYI. No free parking lot. You are limited to metered parking on all sides.

I had no idea that it had expired at the end of Jan 2025 and here we are at the end of February. Good news is I did not get any tickets between the end of Jan and today. Even better news is that this currency exchange was close enough so I could get there on my lunch break. The woman behind the bulletproof glass was very friendly and very fast in taking care of me. It actually took me more time to drive over and back to work than it took to get the new sticker. So for me this was a five start experience: fast and friendly and no ticket. Nice thing about the location was that there was a parking lot, so I didn't have to deal with street parking, although there seemed to be plenty around.

I have gone here several times to use their services & customer service of staff ranges from poor to fair depending who is working. Today, was the final insult & I will never use this location again. Used their western union services & the woman working there was rude from the start. Instead of doing her job & providing helpful info, she made rude comments like " its very expensive" instead of just providing cost. Also asking where my mother is from. She also made a statement that I was using my mother to send money when I was helping send money for her sister's funeral. She refused to provide her name or name of her manager, so she obviously knew she was in the wrong. Is basic customer service skills & courtesy too much to ask for?
