Just fine. Not exactly as I hoped it would be, but closer than anything I can get to it at home…read more Fast food-ified doner kebab...as soon as I saw it in the Boxpark, I knew what I would be ordering for my meal. It absolutely got the job done and it was messy but fine.

The menu is available as printed leaflet and on screen behind the till. There's a huge variety you can choose from. Amongst regulars like wrap or on a plate you also have choices like Döner Quesadillas or cheese balls. However, it's also misleading. (more below) It looks nice and clean as long as you don't go to the lavatory (men). The tiny sink with the micro tap in the super narrow corridor makes it difficult to not touch the surface, which is not really nice. Wait time was quite long with approx. 15-20 min, but maybe it was just very busy. They had quite a lot take outs. The meals have a good size (I had chicken wrap & mixed quesadillas) and as menu it comes with a drink and a handful fries. The ingredients are of high quality, but the craftsmanship isn't. The wrap was done poorly, all sauce were mixed together although they don't complement each other, it was more like eating the leftovers from the week rather than having a "signature" döner kebab. The quesadillas clearly shown with a nice bowl of salsa don't come with any. You can ask for some small sauce pots whatsoever, but don't expect nicely chopped tomatoes, onions, chilli etc. next to it. I liked their idea on the wrap to let the tomato slices stick out a bit. That doesn't really bother you while eating it and it gives it a nice touch. But the bottom need to be tucked in better otherwise you have to pick up the the last quarter from your tray (best case). Worst of all, when I was there the chef didn't wait for the meat to be done and cut slices of while it was still raw. It didn't happen once and I happened to see it only after I filled my stomach with the raw meat. The result was grumbling stomach for the rest of the afternoon. Also when I asked one of the waitresses to have the quesadillas packed she just gave me a box and bag and left. When I asked if she could do it for me I got a bs answer. Not nice. All in all, avoid this place. There's a better one in front of the Ealing Broadway station.

Back then he told me about this Persian restaurant in Ealing and I promised I would check it out eventually. Forward several years - I still haven't kept my promise - I receive the following Yelp compliment from Allen D: "Happy New Year Mr Uli. You know every time I end up in Persian Palace I wonder if you've managed to try Persian yet!" Seriously, how can I not but strap on my boots and venture out to Ealing after receiving such a note! I arrived at Persian Palace on a Sunday evening around 7pm and I was greeted by a line of about 15 people. Great...maybe I should've read the reviews forewarning me about this. But I'm in good spirits, have a book on me and am starving...so I queue up in very English fashion. The line moves quite quickly and after about 20-25 minutes waiting I am being offered a table. Once seated I whip out my Yelp App with the intention of studying the other people's reviews for food recommendations. But the nice waitress disapproves of this behaviour. When she sees me studying my phone, she says something like this: "No need to google the best dishes, that's what I am here for!" I loved her for this frankness and right away switched off my phone and waited for her input. I ended up ordering the following starter and main course with her: Starter: Kashk-E-Badenjan (sauteed aubergine, walnuts, garlic, whey and mint) with bread Main: Momtaz (one skewer of marinated chicken fillet and one skewer of mince lamb kabab served with rice, grilled tomato) Drink: Doogh (yogurt-based beverage seasoned with mint; similar to the Turkish Ayran) All of the above items were plentiful and delicious and I was happy as a puppy! And even though I was quite satiated after these two rather big portions, I still remembered a dessert when I had first read Allen's review: Paloodeh (or has he spelt it: Faloodeh). Paloodeh is a Persian sorbet threaded with rice noodles and flavoured with rose water. It's served along with a fresh slice of lemon, which you're supposed to squeeze over the sorbet. I have to say this was the highlight of my dinner. The unusual combination of sorbet and vermicelli noodles was exotic and absolutely delicious. I loved it! Some last tips: * I suggest coming here as a group - do make a reservation though! * If you live nearby, you can skip the line and order take away (online ordering is possible) Thanks, Allen D, for making me come here!

It was always a great takeaway, but now after years of consistently good food and a refurb it's now become a very nice restaurant, which has become part of the movement to smarten up the NW2 area. Walm lane has been run down for years, with lots of shops closing, replaced with money lending & charity shops - so it's nice to see shop owners taking pride in what they do. The food is great, they always did a great lamb shish - juicy, tender and mouthwateringly good, but now it's even better, presented on an oval plate, with side salad and soft turkish bread in a basket. You also have two small bowels of Garlic sauce & chilli sauce. Their prices have gone up in tandem with the refurb, but i must say the price increase is worth it. The food presentation is better, the restaurant seating area is large and whilst a little kitsch, has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff are friendly and pretty quick to serve you. All in all a great experience.
