I contacted Corrie E Palmer about simple handyman jobs around my house and Corrie E Palmer deceived me by basically pretending to be his father who is the drywall and plaster repair contractor. Wilbur Palmer returned my phone calls quickly, he showed up on time to quote me the work that I wished to have done. Very knowledgeable about his work and works efficiently. He is the type of person that you could trust in your home. Don't get these two Mr. Palmers confused like I did and get swindled like I did by Corrie E Palmer. They are nothing alike. Wilbur Palmer is the one you want to hire! His costs are very reasonable and he works quickly. Last February we hired Ohio Valley Coatings to do our interior painting. Well... that turned out to…read morebe the biggest disappointment besides hiring my cousin to do the exterior. Sonny Humes and Scott Humes who BTW I knew from living in South Wheeling. Anyhow long story short..I signed a contract and it that turns out the primary owner of the company didn't even know about us. The contract was an old one that Sonny apparently uses when he or his brother need the money. They half assed the job. Didn't skim coat where the obvious water damage was. Didn't use the proper paint for a bathroom. I'm not a painter. I didn't find any of this out until we found the primary owner of the business...plus I wasn't there. I was working. I met the 2 of them (Sonny & Scott) at Sherwin-Williams and showed them my colors. They saw the interior of the house and were told everything they needed to know. The house was built in the 1950's and had oil based paint on the walls and they were shown where there was any places that needed patched or skimmed due to prior water damage or any stress fractures from settling. I trusted they would do what they were paid to do. That they knew what they were doing, they told me what they were going to do and put it all in the contract accept the skimming. So, now every place where we had water leaks from the roof has been peeling and in the bathroom where there is moisture is peeling...I have made several attempts to reach Sonny and Scott but they don't return my calls. So I took to the internet to see if I could find where the business might have a home base and I found the main owner. His name is Dave Henry. I called him and explained everything and that's when he told me he didn't even know I was a customer. He came to the house looked at everything and said he'd talk to Sonny, Sonny came up and skimmed 2 spots, one in the bathroom and one in the living room and never came back. The peeling is continuing in the areas he did not skim. I'm not sure what happened in the mean time but now Dave wont return my calls. We paid them $1,200.00 cash, 1/2 down and 1/2 on completion. It took little while for the peeling to start. I wanted the job done right but it looks like they are a dishonest company and that's sad we can't trust people or small businesses in our community. I was prepared to file a small claim in court but was advised by a friend who is a contractor that more than likely they wont fix the mess and then I would be out 80 bucks for the paperwork.
