The arts program is also superior. The theater program won the top prize for high school musicals and have also had several best actor and actress awards. The orchestra and choir are also top-notch winning their share of awards as well. The sports program is well known and established as one of the best as well. Not only do they win CIF titles in football, basketball and baseball, but also in soccer, water polo, golf, etc. The school makes an effort to be excellent at every level. It doesn't just focus on one area and forget about all others. Instead it makes every effort to provide 100% support behind every endeavor.

Needless to say the school pride is great, half the faculty is great and the principle makes the school feel amazing, I'm honestly glad that Mr Rubio is not going to be there anymore because his behavior is very questionable. Anyway, I wanted to say that my daughter has had a great experience attending RSM. Sure every school has it's positives and negatives, but Yelp is not the spot to rant and rave about a bad teacher they may have had or an incident where a student got in trouble with the Principal. It is about the overall experience and RSM overall left us with many positive experiences. One thing that I really like is that the school has a great communication system. I like their weekly Roadrunner express emails letting me know all of the school information of what's to be expected that is coming up, currently happening, contact information and just general information. They also send out phone calls and email reminders on early dismissal reminders, holiday schedules, state testing and large school events, so that parents can be extra prepared. It's nice that they almost "over remind" you, just in case you forget as life gets quite busy for many parents with things pulling you in many directions, which seems to be the case these days. I also like the fact that she has made many friends from different schools since I believe that RSM is a culmination of students from Robinson, Trabuco, Cielo Vista, Melinda Heights, Foothill Ranch, and Trabuco Mesa. She will hopefully carry many of these new friendships she has made over onto her four years of high school and onward. It's always good to increase your elementary school circle of friends with new faces. Yes, not every school is for everyone and RSM is definitely not perfect by any means, but I say don't knock it until you try it. Mr. Bjorek, Ms. Gibson, and Mr. Morgan are great Principals and work hard to try and make RSM Intermediate a great place for the students.

Following a bullying incident, the school's response was slow, procedural, and fragmented. A safety plan was eventually produced, but it relied heavily on the student to manage unsafe situations and lacked clear staff accountability. Even more troubling, the plan was finalized without including all custodial parents in the process. Instead of focusing on corrective action and supervision, the school increasingly framed homeschooling or withdrawal as the "only viable path," which felt more like avoidance than resolution. Parents entrust schools with their children's well‑being. When concerns are raised, families should be met with transparency, collaboration, and urgency. Sadly, that was not our experience.

Kindergarten was great, our son did well and had a great teacher. 1st grade wasn't quite as good, but the teacher (1st year at the school) did put in effort to make it a good experience. 2nd grade was an absolute disaster. The teacher was horrible. Aside from being unorganized and unprofessional, she would verbally abuse our son on an almost daily basis (Several times witnessed by my wife and other parents). While he did well with his grades, we noticed a decline in his personality as well as his self esteem, he often cried about not wanting to go back to school. We had our son tested and found that he was significantly above average in intelligence and had a minor case of ADHD that with some minor accommodations would have helped him to be able to "behave" more to her liking. The teacher made no effort to engage in productive conversations on the accommodation, and the Principle was useless. We got thru the year and quickly pulled our son out. He is now in a charter school and absolutely thriving with simple accommodations that the school gladly implemented (as well as suggestions they made to help him out) I would have hoped for a more cooperative approach from the school and it's staff, but you definitely have to look passed the "Awards" to know how a school really is. follow-up: I have heard there is a new administration at the school, and while I hope it improves things, I will not consider returning either of my children even though we are now driving 20 minutes (vs a 5 minute walk) especially since the teacher in question is still teaching 2nd grade
