She may look gloomy but she's really just in a state of Nirvana after trying the fondue.

This is the best dinner I've had since coming to England! A tight travel budget had my girlfriend and I eating Tesco cheese and onion sandwiches for days on end, so we decided to splurge and get a real meal. We were craving hearty English food that had vegetarian options, and found very few options. We stumbled upon this place, and while obviously not "English" fare, it sounded good enough. We were offered a vegetarian/vegan menu- a real menu, not a tiny pamphlet! Hurrah! We got three tapas to share. The fondue was heaven. I highly recommend ordering it, even if it's not to share (after trying it, you might not be willing to!). Servers were polite and efficient, and the restaurant had a nice vibe to it. There was a cocktail lounge downstairs if that's your thing, and lovely outdoor seating. It's also tucked away in a little cove-type place, so it's a good escape from the tourist-packed streets of Bath. They also had two for one cocktails, and since I can't legally drink in my own country, this was a fun and cheap way to have my first drink in a restaurant!

The foods great but service is a little slow. As long as you're in good company this shouldn't really be an issue! I recommend the xinxim.

Ok, I admit it. You can get a great Burrito in England. And if you will buy the five pound, as in weight, burrito, you get a certificate and a black Tee Shirt that says you ate the whole thing. Must be Huge. I could barely finish the large. ;).

The line moves super quickly (it'a one of those build-your-own places, like just walk up to the glass case of food and choose your dish, your fillings, your extras, and they slap it all together right in front of you) despite a queue, so there's that. Unfortunately, the people who work here aren't exactly the friendliest people in the world... but they do roll a mean burrito (which I prefer over a friendly person who rolls a loose burrito where all the guts fall out of the bottom on the first bite). I went with a large burrito (yes, they offer "small" and "large"), which is a standard sized burrito back in the States, and asked if I could get their special - black bean and butternut squash chipotle chili - as my filling. The No-Nonsense Burrito Maker warned that it would be too wet, but I like to live dangerously so I went with that and extras like lettuce (no charge), sour cream (no charge), cheese (extra charge), and guacamole (double charge because I asked for more then she put on). Total price? £15. Oof. Definitely the most money I've spent on a burrito. And was it filling? Yes. Did it help sop up the gin in my system? Definitely. But was it flavorful? Not really. The majority of the burrito ended up being rice - I guess I didn't realize how much she had put on, but every bite was dominated by it. If I could do it all over again, I would ask for no rice - weird I know, but that way I could actually taste the flavors of the other ingredients I got charged for!

One of things I miss the most about moving to Wales from California is my precious Mexican food. To…read morebe honest, when I first heard about Wahaca I was extremely skeptical at how good it could be but with all the glowing reviews on Yelp I just had to give it a try. I mean, I was getting some serious Mexican food withdrawals and needed a fix. Wahaca scratched my itch straight away and then some - the food here is absolutely gorgeous! Mind, it isn't 100% authentic. It isn't the greasy, heavy, but utterly indulgent Mexican food I'm used to. Wahaca is more of Mexican cuisine with a modern twist but they do pay some pretty accurate homage to the spices and flavours of Mexico; they even apparently have a trusted source in Mexico for certain ingredients. ~ Atmosphere: Wahaca is sneakily massive. When I first walked in, I thought it seemed pretty tiny but there are actually 3 different floors for dining with the top floor having a stocked bar for a bit of lounging as well. Because their toilets are on the top floor, they actually have an ELEVATOR in the restaurant! ~ Customer Service: Really friendly. The waitress asked if we needed any help with figuring out what to order from the menu but since I was already really familiar with Mexican cuisine I didn't need it. However, rest assured if you're new to Mexican food the waitresses are happy to help (don't feel embarrassed to ask!). Food came out pretty quickly and they have a unique system where you can pay using wi-fi as well. ~ Food: The absolute highlight. My partner and I wanted to skip the "ah"s and "um"s with deciding what to order, so we just went for the Wahaca selection for "adventurers" - £32.50 worth of food. It came with: * 2 Salmon Sashimi Tostadas * 3 Pork Pibil Tacos * 1 Large Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla (cut in half) * 2 Pea & Mint Empanadas * Frijoles w/ Chorizo * Broccoli w/ Green Goddess Dressing * Grilled Corn on the Cob * Churros y Chocolate The highlight for the meal for me was DEFINITELY the Salmon Sashimi Tostadas - they were absolutely perfect and the salmon was incredibly fresh! I regret not ordering more! To be honest, when I first looked at the menu for the taster plate I was skeptical about how much I'd enjoy a lot of the other stuff. I thought the broccoli, corn, and frijoles would be a tad boring but I'm so glad I was proven wrong. I never thought that I'd be enjoying just a plate of broccoli so much but it was perfectly cooked and went very well with the dressing. Normally, I'm not a fan of corn on the cob either (I just find them a pain to eat!) but again, Wahaca managed to take something I normally don't like and turn it into something magical. The sauce on the corn was flawless. My least favourite part of the meal were the tacos, but that's only because I've had better (not fair though seeing as I'm from California). However, they were still very delicious. --- The only downside to Wahaca is that I feel it's very pricey and you don't really feel too full at the end either. After we finished our meal, my partner and I were still feeling a bit hungry. I would say that Wahaca isn't great when you're looking for a filling dinner (unless you're willing to pay a lot) but fantastic if you're looking to appreciate food and enjoy different flavours. Even though it was expensive, I couldn't rate anything less than 5 stars since the food here is among the best I've had in Cardiff!

Let's start with something very important to a review of a Mexican (strictly burrito) place in the…read moreUK; I'm American with about fifteen years in the food industry on the perpetual hunt for great food. Taco Macho is a hidden gem, and it shouldn't be surprising that it's the #1 place to eat in Exeter on TripAdvisor. Although I've constantly complained to him about how long it takes to make a burrito, it's also my fault because we're both talkers. He makes all his ingredients fresh, and hand picks all his ingredients because (we've discussed this) he'd rather pay more for supplies that are of a better quality which means he needs to do his shopping instead of going through a supplier. For about £7 you get a burrito that is the best you're going to find (I'll have another review of the taco place in London later) in the UK, I've searched. They're American sized burritos, and absolutely DESTROY the other "Mexican" place across the river, and is the third best burrito I've ever had; the two others are no longer in business and were toward Columbia MD, and the other was in York PA. The flavor is very well balanced and have a nice combination of spice and occasionally citrus notes. Many of the Brits have turned up their nose, and the only reason I've been able to put together is because they're not used to an abundance of flavor in their food - That's not a jab a British food, but an observation from living there for about two years. There are beef, chicken, and sometimes vegan/vegetarian options but that may change in the future; I've never asked about veggie options. Overall, the hours are short (about 1100-1600 Tuesday-Saturday, but that may have changed), so call ahead and hopefully the number provided is both accurate and if it's accurate hopefully he'll pick up; check Facebook for up-to-date hours. If you go in, you could probably tell him the Gringo that was always in flannel sent you, and you won't regret it. However, if you find a better burrito in the UK, somebody needs to tell me because I don't think it's going to happen. Hopefully that was helpful. Keep on eating.

She come over to our table, saying "we are going to have to give you your bill and you have to leave" I asked what for and she replied because you are doing drugs at the table. She then followed it up by saying " I see it. the table opposite see it and the whole restaurant see it" I was gob smacked and said what a false statement and complete lie she's just made up! All I was doing was being polite and amicable to the drunk girl, trying to get her away from me and my partner.(which the table opposite clapped and said "fair play guys you handled that drunk girl better then we would have") When I challenged the matrie'd she said she will get the CCTV to prove this is what happened. I waited for another 10 minutes and no one come to the table so I called the manager. I spoke to the manager and said I've just been accused of selling and taking drugs from this girl, please get the CCTV because maitre'd said she will get it to prove we had done such a thing! Conveniently the CCTV wasn't actually working in the area we was sitting in. By now my partner was upset and and panicking, I asked them to call the police to search me if this was what I was being accused of and nothing. The manager didn't have anything to say all he replied with was, I don't think that's what's happened I don't think you gave them anything I think they gave you something. Like this made it any better. The manager was as spineless as his maitre'd the whole company needs to go onto a customer training course and they need to think before they start accusing people of doing crimes on their premises. Absolutely disgusted it runined what was supposed to be a great weekend away. And I will be taking this further then just leaving a review.
