It took me a few months and thousands of dollars to try to get them to set up her medications correctly . They never fulfilled her oxygen requirement and i spent thousands again, trying to help them and they were never able to do it. The worst part is that there was no transparency and in fact the upper management hid very dangerous things from me. My hope was to work as a team but that cannot be done at Morningstar. I won't go into detail of all the times my mom was endangered there. I do wish more people in Albuquerque used Yelp so I wouldn't have gone there. I also wish the department of health had a way for children to be able to make educated decisions when choosing an Assisted Living Facility. The department of health was notified of major incidences and still have not responded in 7 months

They are great at communicating with my mom if there is anything of concern. The meals are nutritious and their chef, Mark, knows every resident by name. Laundry and cleaning are done on a weekly basis. The property is landscaped beautifully and provides a serene and inviting environment for residents to sit outside on the multiple patio areas. Residents have daily activities they can choose from such as a morning coffee chat or Boggle in the afternoon along with yoga once a week. We researched many assisted living facilities in Albuquerque and ultimately decided on the Village at Alameda. The staff are warm and friendly, and extremely responsive to their residents, making sure that they are comfortable and safe. The rooms are cleaned, laundry is done on a weekly basis, beds are changed routinely, and the chef prepared meals are wonderfully delicious. There are daily activities, a wellness center for mild exercise, and a beauty shop and open patios where clients and family may enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Kimberly, the community relations director, goes out of her way to make sure that the transition from independent living is as smooth as possible, assisting both the client and the family. There is close communication between the staff and family members. This little jewel of a facility is located adjacent to the balloon fiesta park, nestled within established landscaping. It's a calm, inviting atmosphere for anyone. I highly recommend this facility for anyone.

When a fall 3 years ago forced her to move to assisted living, I knew we had to find her a "cruise ship in the desert", and we did!! Mom had lived in Albuquerque for more than 70 years and did not want to leave the city, My sister and I live in UT and CA and we knew the Amaran staff was dependable and never had a worry about mom being there by herself. She had lots of friends, enjoyed activities and going on outings and had a delightful apt. with a beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains. In her last days, the nursing staff was attentive, kind, loving and treated her with dignity. They took geniune care of mom and we saw that first hand as my sister and I were there for over a month with mom and watching. I have told my husband if I ever need assisted care, I want to go to Amaran in Albuquerque. I truly felt I was part of the family and loved everything there...including the beautiful facility!

We placed my mom (89) in this lovely Assisted Living facility in June 2024. We live in Las Vegas,…read moreNV. I toured all the LV facilities and was left disappointed and disillusioned by what was offered. I had to look out of state and ended up in Albuquerque. My mom is from New Mexico and her best friend for 70 years also lives in the ABQ area. So I toured a bunch of facilities in Albuquerque. Not only were they nicer and had more aminities than Vegas, they were also newer and cheaper. Farther away than I would like but her happiness with her living situation is very important at this stage of her life. I did not want her to feel 'warehoused.' I chose Watermark because of the friendliness of the staff, residents, and the volume of activities offered. The overall feel is modern and efficient. The apartments are very nice and large enough to feel like a true apartment. Mom feels very independent while also safe and attended. Mom is picky about food and about friends. She has liked both so far while adjusting to her new living situation. She is busy! And seems to be really thriving. Brooke K. was invaluable in helping me place mom in this facility. Just about everything promised has been delivered. No place is perfect and all senior care facilities have staffing issues. That is just the nature of the beast, so to speak. Kelly and Amanda keep the residents occupied and Karen at the front desk knows all and sees all. Nurse Lisa keeps everyone healthy and Seth makes sure things run smoothly. They and the rest of the staff are the backbone of the facility. I have no regrets just wish there was a similar facility closer to where we live.

My family was torn as to where my mother should be placed for rehabilitation post hip fracture…read more She's a 73 yr old, little lady. We picked this center due to convenience. We were nothing but pleased with her stay at this center in so many ways. My mother felt safe and well taken care of. Her day and night nurses were so sweet and caring towards her and the aides were fantastic in helping her in so many ways. Peggy was her day nurse and Krishna was her aide. The night nurse (sorry I can't remember her name) and all the other nurses & aides were very attentive and soft and gentle with her. They kept us (my family) well informed with her progress and that really eased our worries. Rehabilitation services were awesome! They worked with my mom pretty extensively and was very motivating. They did an initial assessment that helped encourage my mom on specific goals and motivated her towards achieving those goals plus more. They worked with her twice a day - PT and OT. She was in the center for two weeks, towards the end of her stay, she was wheeling and walking (w/walker) to the PT room on her own! They really gave her the confidence to improve and recover that she really needed. My mom is a total introvert. The center provided many group activities. My mom was completely uninterested. I wish she would of tried. She stays alone a lot (with my father & family) and not really comfortable around people should doesn't know. We (the family) spent as much time with her as possible. The staff was so awesome in welcoming us even when my niece would play the guitar for her granny. It meant a ton for my mom to have her safety net of family around her during this time. The food was good - coffee delivered throughout the day. My Mother was very picky on what she was eating - she really doesn't have taste-buds (for many years); the staff would often ask her what she wanted to eat and bring that. I would often come visit during my lunch break and we share lunch. The food was good. The center was super clean; absolutely not issues. Visiting Physician, Care Managers, - all great. More than anything that staff was really great.. I want to thank you for making my mom feel safe and secure during this scary time for her. You all did a fantastic job helping her to recover. She is at home now and stronger than she was before her fracture. We believe this fall was a "eye-opener" to getting her physical health back on track. She attends outpatient physical therapy twice a week and is 100% off the wheelchair and about 80% off the walker. She uses the walker when she's out in public just for a sense of security. Because she had a stroke (about 7 yrs ago) her balance will never be a 100% but with the rehabilitation she is definitely stronger; so much stronger. This was all possible because of Bear Canyon. So thank you for your diligence and hard work and caring staff. She is doing this good because of your work with her. I am so appreciative in so many ways and so glad we chose your center. Huge appreciation.
