My first visit they advertised on their blackboard their Mexican craft selection including a double IPA. Turns out, their draft system wasn't operable. No worries, I know my way around a draft system and I offered to troubleshoot it no charge. No thank you. Maybe some craft bottles? Sure, there are two, an Imperial Porter and a dark lager. No, gracias So I give them a few weeks to get it together and head back. Draft system still not happening and the same cr*p selection of two dark bottles, probably from the same case they tried to sell me last time. Should they get their system working, I may change my review.

There's a lot of haphazard seating throughout the place, which is crowded with pool tables. We ordered the pulpo al diablo and the fried fish to go. My fish came with rice, though I was expecting fries. The fish filets were THIN, but breaded nicely. I wouldn't order them again though. The pulpo was good according to my husband. We'd be back for a night of shooting pool and drinking beer, but not the food.

I've only been there twice and to be honest, I liked Canabrava so much, I went there for 3 great dinners and for a beatiful breakfast on the porch every morning. I would recommend the catch of the day, which is usually - fresh Mahi Mahi. The steak and grilled dishes were great. The beers and mezcal flowed here, but it was always difficult to get our waiters attention. It is such a liesurely atmosphere in Escondido - it's hard to get too impatient when you're in paradise and the waves are crashing 200 yards from the restaurant. Try to get reservations and request a beachside table - these are preferred. I think the breakfasts here are also very nice. My friends had beautiful dishes, I prefer only coffee with the wonderful Pistachio mezcal crema (be sure to buy some bottles of this!!). I always snuck in a small bottle and had an excpetional pistachio coffee every morning to start the day - so damn good! I'm sure there are many, many great restaurants in Escondido, but for proximity to Zicatela, relaxing atmosphere, beach and great food - I highly recommend this spot and I will go there again on my next Escondido adventure.

My husband presented the flyer when we arrived and was told by the bartender it would be just a moment for his shot. I ordered a mezcal cocktail, which was fantastic. After about 20 minutes waiting for his shot, he was finally presented with a .5 oz plastic cup of bottom shelf tequila and was told they were "out of mezcal" as we were staring at a whole wall full of mezcal bottles. We then paid, and left. We will not be back.

One complaint I had was they gave me the wrong tacos ... they also charged me for the wrong tacos too ... they charged me for the tacos with spicy sauce which was a few pesos more but when we brought this up to them they apologized and changed the price no questions asked... I still wish I would have got the tacos I ordered however because although I liked the spicy sauce I felt like it completely overpowered the taco and I really wished I could have tasted the natural flavors in the shrimp and toppings like the avocado since I like the delicate balance Also, I loved the pineapple salsa so much but they only give you the smallest amount of it and I would have loved to have more of the pineapple salsa
