Exploring the Las Vegas Strip - stayed at New York, New York

When you think of Las Vegas, I think many of us think of "the Strip." I went to Las Vegas with my mom right before she had a major surgery after her cancer diagnosis (she didn't want to tell family or friends, so I kept privately until a year ago to announce she was in remission!). Loved being able to celebrate life and make memories with my parents. One of the activities suggested to me when visiting Las Vegas, as it had been a decade or more since I went, was to take a stroll down the Strip. Love both being able to walk at day, and at night to see the lights. There's even a roller coaster on the Las Vegas Strip! I was amazed at all the entertainment, food, yard stick drinks, and other offerings Las Vegas had. I do think we will be back, and I would recommend if you want a fun adult trip!

I can't believe i've never written a review of Vegas even though I've been there many times. It's definitely changed mainly the prices but you can still find something to do no matter what. I will say i really miss The Mirage so badly. i'm disappointed that's its turning into something else. It had history and just felt like classic Vegas. I don't go as often because everything is so expensive but it still has a special place in my heart. I've stayed at Aria, Bellagio, palazzo and Wynn and all very beautiful. Over the years I've loved the shows, pools, comedy, and they even offer popular concerts now. The Sphere which I have not made it to yet. Some restaurants use to be something I looked forward to. Even with all these changes I'm sure I'll be back someday.

We exited MGM hotel which led to a connecting bridge to the Hershey factory. I like that they had an escalator you could take to the ground level or up to the bridge. The bridge has a great view of some of the attractions on the strip. We enjoyed walking around and taking in the sights. They had a waterfall with vibrant colors which was fun to take pictures nearby. The Hershey factory and the M&M factory were fun to look around. My friends and I bought some unique flavored m&ms at the factory. Both factories have multiple levels and the candy can get pricey.

Can we all agree that there is way too many road work construction projects going on at the same time in our city? The route along Las Vegas Blvd and Russell has been under construction for the past six months, since the summer! I noticed the Sign posted that states Road Work will be happening until January 2026. And then there is the Railroad Crossing, if there is a RTC bus, it will be stopping in the right lane of traffic, whether there is a train coming or not. I counted one bus at Pause, it was nineteen seconds. F1 Construction and De-construction has also messed up traffic. I think that is all gone now. Confusing ways to get to Hotel parking garages along with tourists not knowing where to go, has also added to this issue. Have you heard why Locals don't come to the Strip that often, only when family/friends are in town? Yes, this is the reason why.

This is where all the action happens LOL I mean shows, things to do, sight-seeing, all of it. The strip is where you go to gamble, shop and dine. If you go outside of the strip, it's dry, desert, and there's not much going on. The money is all in the strip. The rest of Nevada doesn't even matter lol The strip gets incredibly crowded. You have to pay for parking everywhere. Prepare for a ton of walking too. The best way to get around is either do valet parking, or get your walking shoes on lol The strip is all about the nightlife. It truly is the city that never sleeps. All night long, you will hear cars honking, lights, and people will be down in the casinos. You can find some places open 24 hours or until 3AM in the morning. If you are a night owl, you will love the strip!

Las Vegas Boulevard ak. as the Las Vegas Strip never disappoints. There is always something new. Right now, we are experiencing the construction of the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on the site of the old Mirage Hotel. The new hotel is going to be built as a large guitar shaped building and it's coming along nicely. Simultaneously, the old building of Mirage Hotel is being dismantled. There are lane closures on the Strip nearby the construction site. Of course there are traffic jams along with that. Despite the traffic congestion, I am excited about the new hotel and casino on the Strip!

We haven't been in Las Vegas in quite a few years. With that being said, this is the new "Strip" even though it's older now! ;) The Strip is about four miles of hotels, shopping , and eateries. During the day, it's like anywhere else. During the evening, that's when all the beautiful and flashy lights catches our attention!!! It's amazing how technology has come a long ways to present us with such beautiful images. It's like being in an adult Disney adventure!!! It's fun to take pictures and people watching. We enjoyed shopping in all kinds of different stores. There's even a giant roller coaster! You can hear people screaming when out and about. Hotels and eateries all around. There's different levels so be prepared and wear some comfortable shoes!! Besides the standard sidewalks, there's stairs, and outdoor escalators. I did see some elevators, too. There's also people out playing music. Tipping helps them out. Overall, the first evening we walked a little over 19K steps! We were all tuckered out!! The beauty of the lights made it all worth the exhaustion!! ;)

It's fun in Vegas. We stayed at the MGM Grand and went to The Sphere for the Wizard of Oz show. Good show. We walked to our different activities and also took ride shares. So many things to see and explore. My favorite stores - Coca Cola, M&M's Las Vegas - always go to check them out. And the ABC stores are so good for beverages and snacks during your stay. Lots of souvenir items too. And good prices. It can be crowded and overwhelming with the sounds and people. Watch out for the people in costumes because they want tips to have their photo taken. Some are aggressive. Walk fast past them. Or be prepared to pay for a photo. There aren't many water refilling stations that I could find so we bought drinks or bottled water. The trams are a good option to ride shares and taxis. It's been fun to come back and visit, so many changes and it keeps changing.

The Vegas strip baby! It can be fun, cool, scary & trippy all at once too but it's a must to walk it when here. Better to come at night of course but that's when it can get a bit scary too so walk with someone or in a crowd. Unfortunately for us the night we walked it some You Tubers had beef & one was shot & killed, I heard the shots. But for the most part it's chill, you find alot of stores to shop & places to eat & drink. Also don't get hustled by the characters or half naked girls for pics & becareful with the homeless some can be a bit crazy. As long as you with people you should be ok as many walk the strip day & night. During the summer I recommend walk it after 10pm because it's really hot before that. See you soon Vegas & when we do we'll be on that strip :)

You have to walk the Vegas Strip if you come to Las Vegas on vacation ! You really get the flavor of the place and you get to experience the street level energy and vibe which is cool . I didn't really eat on the Strip but it looks like there are some cool spots to grab a drink with views of the Strip down here . Check out the Bellagio Fountain too . But bring water because it was literally like 100 degrees outside in May and wear comfortable shoes because it's a lot of walking !

the Vegas Strip! stretching over 4 miles, this is the heart and life of Los Vegas. you must try the Eiffel Tower experience with its own restaurant. you must try a club out here, especially at night. you should check out the Fountains of Bellagio, with a show featuring music and a fountain presentation. and definitely just walk around the strip, as you will find all different forma of live entertainment and experiences

Are the casinos and restaurants fully reopened and can you still smoke indoors at them? If not when will this change?

The Casinos and Restaurants on the strip are fully open and functioning at pre COVID-19 capacity

Where is the best place to park at the strip?

You can't park on the Strip! You have to park at one of the major Casino's and do your walking from there.Parking fee's vary.

Thinking of a trip to Vegas mid February. How are the crowds? We are cautious but really hoping to get away.

The crowds were pretty light when we went in September. The only real downside for us was all the weed being smoked everywhere outside. It was bad! If you are good with that, then the rest is no problem!

Can i do a sightseeing of the strip driving in my car at night?

Get on the deuce (public transit) instead, front row of second level. Better for seeing sights.

I reached out to this business and sadly learned that there are no places in town that teach this skill. This business does offer other classes working with fused glass so I decided to sign up for one. The cost for my class was only $40 which I thought was very reasonable. Although I am not in this part of town often, the studio was easy to find parking was plentiful in their lot. This business is broken into two areas. When you enter, you are in the gallery and there are various artists featured along with their pieces. Very impressive. In the back of the studio is where all the glass art is created. There are kilns, tools, workbenches etc. My friend and I signed up to create a colorful heart this past Saturday morning. We were warmly greeted by Don who checked us in and then we patiently waited for the class to begin. Barbara and Larry (owners) took us back into the working part of the studio and we all found our places around two tables. Since we were handling glass, we had to wear gloves for safety. The purpose of the class was to create a mosaic style heart/paperweight. There were two large trays at each table filled with colorful, fused glass. After trying various sizes of the glass, I was finally able to finish creating my design and considered my heart masterpiece completed. Larry was extremely informative and helpful throughout the class as was Barbara. I learned from Larry about their extensive involvement with our community. They had just recently held an event for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. I love a small business that gives back and it makes me want to support them even more. Both Barbara and Larry display a real passion for what they do and enjoy sharing it with others. Larry expressed to me how addicting creating this kind of art an be and I totally believe him. After our hearts were created, they would now be placed in the kiln for firing. Barbara advised all of us that as soon as our hearts were ready, we would be notified and able to pick them up. I have been looking for a creative outlet and I believe I will be back taking more classes and learning more about working with fused glass.

Everyone has a magical place to go to where negativity disappears. One of the magical places I go…read moreto is the Magic Tree in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area off of the River Mountains Loop Trail at Mile Marker 13. The Magic Tree is a tall cottonwood tree that got its name from it being magic that a tall cottonwood thrives in the desert. In an exaggerated way it reminds me of the Tree of Life in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. Seeing it in proportion to the desert, the Magic Tree looks monumental. Then again, it isn't an exageration that the Magic Tree is The Tree of Life. When my spirit is dying and I have worries, this is a special spot where I leave the material world to open up my soul. This has been a place where I have prayed and spent time in reflection. If anything it has improved my quality of life. This is a magical place that is accessible by a 1.2 mile hike or bike ride on the precious River Mountains Loop Trail (abbreviated RMLT). To reach the parking lot from the Las Vegas Valley, you want to head eastbound on Lake Mead Parkway (Nevada Route 564) all the way to the boundary of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area border. Immediately before the Fee Station, you will turn right into the RMLT parking lot. This is a modern parking lot with sufficient parking spaces. From the parking lot you will head toward a kiosk. Here, you will see some useful information about the area. Beyond the kiosk is a short RMLT spur. At the T-intersection, turn left on the River Mountains Loop Trail. The paved trail starts off straight as it brings you into the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. At this point the trail transitions into a rural landscape with a parallel equestrian trail. The trail gains elevation as the 's-curves blend into the contours of the desert hills. The scenery improves with a scenic overlook of Lake Las Vegas and a vista of the rolling desert carpet reaching toward the mountains and Lake Mead. In the distance below, you could make out a Circle of green. This is the Magic Tree. The RMLT winds along another s-curve as it lowers back to the desert floor. It soon straightens out as it rejoins the equestrian trail. Near the mile marker 13, it will separate from the equestrian trail again. Now you want to keep right on the equestrian trail that will reach the Magic Tree in a short distance. The Magic Tree looks more like a savanna than a desert. It is an oasis. When you look at the Magic Tree you will notice a pipeline travelling horizontal in its shadow. This pipeline itself is interesting for the fact that it is one of the first water pipelines from Lake Mead. This very water is part of the soundtrack to a visit to the Magic Tree. If you close your eyes, it has that nice sound of a waterfall. To take in the Grand views of the Magic Tree, I suggest that you duck under the pipeline. This is the spot to spend time in reflection at the Magic Tree. Beyond the Magic Tree is a magical world of hiking trails. I call the trail originating from the Magic Tree toward the River Mountains foothills the Magic Tree Trail. It travels on a rocky topography through small canyons with slight elevation gains. In March, the wildflower bloom brings the desert to life. This is an area worthy of exploring. I give the Magic Tree five stars. How can I give a magical place any less?

You'll find them on Carson and 6th street, near Las Vegas Blvd and Fremont. The alley was once a dumpster with trash everywhere. One of the founders started to make a change, and years later the alley is transformed into a welcoming space of art, which includes the Queen of Hearts and Alice in Wonderland. The place is described as a community space that "creates new experiences incorporating art and interactivity for locals and visitors through the use of murals, sculptures, innovative landscaping, and multiple intereactive moments." There's a wonderful mural of Tony Hsieh (1973-2020) as well as a Family 'Ohana mural, which is inspired by the founder as a tribute to families around the world. The interactive experience is a nice touch and includes a unique puppet theatre. And the alley library is very cool! The concept of take a book, leave a book is awesome!

Halfway between Las Vegas Boulevard and and 6th Street along Carson, there is an alley which is the gateway to this public art. There are actually three ways of getting here--the one described and two others. Since the two alleys form a T, you could walk from Fremont Street halfway to Carson and that's a way in or you cold come from Fremont Street on 6th halfway to Carson and enter there. The alley extends north halfway to Fremont Street although you cannot see Fremont from the alley. It is, in fact, two alleys. The entrance from Carson goes to another alley that is perpendicular and this other alley also has public art in both directions. To my surprise, I see two women working to clean an area of the alley. I think they were volunteers. We chatted some and they made sure I didn't trip over their hose. One of the murals explains the dT-Alley and some of the things you'll see as you walk along. Artists are selected. It is not an area where just anyone can go and do a mural. I found the quality of the murals to be quite high and I chuckled when I saw the give/take library, the Puppet Theatre, and other areas like that. There are planters that are also painted. In reading their website, this is the first alley revitalization project in Las Vegas and the area opened in February. I took a lot of photos and enjoyed my Saturday morning walk. It's a great way to see some local color if you're in the downtown area. I could have put many more photos but it would take away some of your surprise if you visit. Suffice it to say, the photos I posted are only a fraction of the art there.
