Then, she started the facial steam and made sure it was just right. Lauren asked me questions about my skin to ensure I would have a great experience. Lauren understood what my face needed in mid winter as it gets pretty dry, I left with soft and smooth skin. She was friendly, professional and I left feeling beyond pampered. I have been a loyal member for over 3 years paying nearly $90 a month, and the customer service and lack of professionalism I recently experienced was honestly shocking. I needed to transfer a service, but because of their transfer policy, if I had waited literally TWO more days, I would not have hit the "3 transfers per year" limit. Instead of working with a long-term paying member, they immediately became difficult and unreasonable. I made an appointment at 11:45 PM the night before for 2:15 PM the next day. Since the business was closed when the appointment was made, I called promptly at 9 AM the second they opened to cancel it. I was then told I would be charged a $100 cancellation fee. I was completely stunned. Charging a loyal member $100 for cancelling an appointment made only hours earlier -- before the business was even open -- is absurd, especially when the schedule for that day was practically empty with multiple openings available. What made it even worse was being told they were "starting to crack down" on the cancellation policy. So apparently the policy is only enforced when they decide they want to enforce it? That is not professional or consistent customer service. To make matters more frustrating, their app does not even ask for confirmation before booking appointments. In the past, I accidentally booked an appointment because of this and had to call the next morning to cancel since, again, the office was closed. At no point during those previous cancellations was I ever informed there was a limit or that future cancellations could result in fees. Or I would have explained that appointment should have never been made and to not hold it against me. Not that that should even be a thing when you pay nearly 90 dollars a month for that long of a time. The manager originally told me she would waive the fee "this one time" because I was considering cancelling my membership after how poorly this situation was handled. Then after I cancelled my membership, they charged the $100 anyway. Completely dishonest and incredibly disappointing. The front desk staff at this location consistently seem disorganized and uninformed. Every interaction feels chaotic, and no one ever seems to know what is going on. I've been to the Holmdel and Aberdeen locations and both are significantly more professional, organized, and customer-focused. When you are paying this much money every month, you expect competent management and fair treatment -- especially as a loyal long-term member. Unfortunately, this location completely failed in that regard. And I nor my friends or family will ever be coming back to the Middletown Hand and Stone.
