Let me get right to the point with this one, no beating around the bush!…read more My beef is not with the Dr's, but the front office staff, they need a lesson on customer service. I called in to order some new contacts, my morning started off with me ripping my last pair...so I called to order a new box, I was informed it had been two years since my last eye exam and they could not do anything until I had an eye exam. I explained that I would be happy to do that, but wondering if I could just get one pair to tie me over till I could get in for an appointment. I was told NO, there was no discussion, they were not going to help me until I came in for my $120 eye exam, even though I have been purchasing contacts on a regular basis. I have been a customer there for over 10 years and thought that my loyalty would count for something, I was not looking for a freebie, wanted to order more contacts, make an appointment for an eye exam, and in the mean time needed a pair to get me through. I sent an email to them to explaining my disappointment in their lack of effort to help me, I have not heard a thing. I was not expecting wine and flowers, but maybe a follow up phone call to an upset customer.. that makes good business sense to me. It all worked out in the end, found a great new eye Dr who only charged $70 for the same appointment they charged $120, got my contacts, and I will be happy to spend my money there :) I do not recommend the Doctor's eye clinic, it is all about how much money they can make, not the patient! It's to bad they can't "see" what good customer service is about.

Over the past year, however, I have learned more about my dental health from other professionals. This made me realize how poorly Herring Cove Dental and Dr. Livingstone had assessed me. When I followed up to see what happened on my initial visit a year ago, Dr. Livingstone got defensive and said because she hadn't seen me throughout my life, she could only go by what she saw on her initial intake screen and assessment. Sounds fair enough, except that other professionals could only do the same, yet they asked more questions to make better assessments and talk with me about my dental history and current health. Very few professionals will be able to follow someone their whole lives- this should never be an excuse for not asking questions to make proper assessments. I'm just thankful I continued to do my own research and was able to self-refer to a specialist. The specialist identified some pretty obvious initial issues that had never been discussed with me by Dr. Livingstone. In fact, had it not been for my questions this past appointment, they still would not have been mentioned or addressed. Again initially, I really liked this location and had no complaints. I would have happily and confidently recommended them. But after what I have learned the past month, and in the disappointing response from Dr. Livingstone, I will be looking for a different dentist to support my care plan going forward.

Dr. Lawen, himself, has not only conducted himself professionally at all times, but he exudes a warmth and compassion that should be standard at all dental offices. Lori has been my hygienist for longer than I can recall, and while there are other well-trained and highly competent hygienists working alongside her, I would never consider losing her in that capacity. I had two new crowns installed a year ago, and the procedure went flawlessly. I am scheduled for another next month. No reservations or concerns on my part because there is no downside to it.

So, when I finally got around to making an appointment in January (yay for having medical coverage!), I decided to try a new clinic in a more central location. I chose BL rather arbitrarily - I knew I wanted a place close to my work (Dal) so I took to Google with that one very simple search term and this place was one of the first results. There were no reviews that I could find online but a bit of research seemed to show that they were nice enough, so I made an appointment, fingers crossed that my 'good vibes' were warranted. I could not be more thrilled with my choice! First of all, the office is very slick and modern and they are very high-tech. They do everything on the computer and appear to have lots of neat dental software to get the job done, which is refreshing (my last clinic was kind of stuck in the 1990's, honestly). You can book appointments online, and they will even email and text you reminders for appointments - as a busy, mobile person permanently attached to either a computer or smartphone, I really appreciate the convenience. The staff is all super nice here and really make you feel comfortable. I can't remember the name of the hygienist who did my cleaning but she was SO warm and friendly and clearly explained everything she was doing, which took a great deal of anxiety out of the process. I am really glad that my instincts were correct and my rather random choice of clinic paid off! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I recently switched to this dental clinic after reading the reviews on Yelp and I was not…read moredisappointed! Everyone who works here it friendly and thoughtful. I got a check up with Dr. Lucy and then returned for a cleaning with the hygienist. When you enter through the double doors you'll find the waiting area and the reception desk with the three admins. There's a tv in one section of the waiting room and one in each of the rooms that I've been in for work. They took special care to find out if I was comfortable or had any anxiety about visiting the dentist. There is lots of free parking given that it's located in a large strip mall and it's across the street from the Dartmouth bus terminal for those taking transit. If you're looking for a new dental clinic, I definitely recommend this one. To note though, you'll need to go in for a special new patient appointment before they'll do any work on your teeth, so don't wait for a cavity!

Anyway, I called the office and it was about 10AM here so about 1PM there I suppose; and the phone continued to ring and ring. I hung up, and later tried again. This time I let it ring for quite a while thinking perhaps an answering machine would kick in. Instead, the reception picked up the phone and without hearing a word from me, asked me to hold. No problem I said. So; I continued to wait for about 5 minutes, then suddenly the phone slammed down on my ear. I then called back and asked the receptionist why the phone was slammed down, and she said that she was busy. OKAY.....I said. I went on to mention the nature of my call, and she assured me that she would relay the message. I waited 3 days and no return of the message. I also sent emails. Still nothing. Sent them back an email in return stating that I"m glad I"m not a patient of theirs . That they can keep that type of practice is Dartmouth Nova Scotia where it belongs! Not nice people in my opinion.

The child's mother informed them that their ride was far away(30+ minutes), and regardless of this, the couple were escorted out the back door, and the mother and child were left on the sidewalk while the SIX year old could not hold up their own head, nor stand. Several people drove by and asked the pair why they were sat on the hot sidewalk while the child screamed. Once the pairs ride had ARRIVED, a hygienist came outside and approached the mother while getting into her vehicle and exclamation she was "unaware" that their ride was far away, and that they may come back inside to wait for the vehicle that they were now GETTING INTO. Someone messed up big time here, and they didn't try to correct it until someone that saw this pair sat in the heat went into the building and expressed concern for the pair.

"Unbelievable" orthodontic consultant…read more I have already visited seven orthodontic clinic and this is the only one that neither do any professional check(e.g. x-ray, photo) nor free. All I did here is an assistant introduced me invisalign and braces, and then a doc came and did some simple check. Then the doc said: yes we could do it. Done. No advice, no plan. I even hesitate can they really do orthodontic treatment. The most surprised me part is it charge me without any informing. I have done this consultant in seven clinic and none of them charged me(while that maybe not usual), one of them informed me before I booked the appointment(so that I could decide if I would go). For general dentist request, I don't know. But for orthodontic, definitely not.

I was given to Dr. Murphy to do the work because I use Nitrous Oxide. Having the dental work gives me major anxiety and I made that clear to them. After the first procedure, I went back and explained how my tooth was still on fire. I had throught it was full of stitches or something. Dr. Ryan said no work had been done. I found that strange as that was the only place I had ever felt constant pain, and the reason I Went for the treatment in the first place. Dr. Murphy wanted to do things in segmants, so I came back to do fillings etc. Again I told him, I was in pain. He quite bluntly told me " If there is a problem in the future, we will address it then!" I knew I couldnt bring it up anymore without making him more upset. As time went on the pain got worse. My face began to swell. I had already spent my money with Bridgeview, so I went to Dal and asked if someone could look at my tooth as I was in such pain. They put me on a list. Then Covide hit. During Covid19, I wrote to Dr. Helpin, asking for help. I couldn't bear the pain. He suggested antibiotics, but I reminded him he had clearly told me before that my situation was too late for them, and that was why he had to pull some out. During this time, I went on anti anxiety meds. The only prescription I have had to go on or am on now. I cried daily and couldn't figure why they kept ignoring my same tooth. I called the office when things re-opened, and got in. Dr. Murphy did one xray on the painful tooth, which was now hugely swollen inside and out, and said " So, you aren't crazy, there is a problem". " He then goes on to say how Dr. Helpin may want to change his mind, and pull all my upper teeth out, but this time put me into a hospital to do it. After doing all the work to save them. I couldn't believe it. One minute the clinic was calling me to get my partial denture plan, and then suddenly I am starting over? All my pain, all my stress, all the times I begged for help, and I was correct all along? I got booked into see Dr. Helpin. I suffered through a two week, anxiety filled two weeks, only to get a call from the office. It was a holiday on that week that my apointment fell on. It was going to be postponed again. I cried all night. When I finally saw Dr. Helpin, he didn't seem to have a clue who I was. He said, "I can understand why you want to get all your teeth pulled out". I was in shock. I looked at him speechless. He then said "Well, Helen, what did you want me to do for you?" I told him, my face is so sore I can't touch it. He said "yes, I can see the swelling from here" I reminded him of what he has originally said and then when I mentioned my jaw, which dislocates, he looked shock and said "I need to look at your records and get a complete new work up. I will get you back in. I realized he hadn't prepped for me at all, nor did he know who l was. I begged him to do something now. Xrays. Anything. He just kept saying, "no, can't help you today" The next appointment given to me was for August 24. A month and half away. I told them I may be dead by then. I hadn't been able to eat solid food since they did the work and changed my bridge. Both dentists Knew, that after the work done at the clinic, I couldn't close my mouth without the dentures in, because my mouth now locked shut from the missing teeth. I couldn't eat anything. I was living on boost. I couldn't believe the lack of compassion, the wasted money and time, and the months of unnecessary pain. You are supposed to be in the helping profession, not taking money without helping, neglect and zero caring about the result. After that I left the clinic, l decided to find a caring dentist. I googled "female dentists" and found Bedford South Dental Clinic. I sent a Face Book Messages to them saying, I Know you have many patients, but I am in pain, and my dentist won't help me. They said " we will make it work if you are in pain" They got me in within a few days. By the time I left, I had an appointment for a root canal specialist, who got me in within 9 days. She was painless and amazing. The swelling started going down and the pain was gone. They also got me a referral for my dislocating jaw and Some coverage will be provided for any hospital care. Nothing was done for it at your clinic. It was forgotten. They fixed the denture l already paid you to do. For free. All this was done before your clinic could even get me in for x rays on August 24th. I work in a barbershop in your area. I have gone from saying how happy I was to find a dentist, to how much pain I was left in. I am a very vocal person. At this point, I feel that I was put through an amazing amout of pain for no reason. My care was sub standard. I would have gotten the same care in China, but at a much cheaper price.
