About 8 years ago (before my Yelping days) I had my initial Lasik eye enhancement surgery. I had been wearing glasses since the second grade and I was ready to be done with them (and contact lenses). I had been warned that due to my age there was a strong likelihood of regression, so I opted for the plan which gave me lifetime coverage for any necessary touchups. The procedure went well and all was good. This year, I booked an appointment for a consult to have my eyes touched up as I had noticed some regression. After seeing me, it was determined I would only need one eye touched up as the difference in my left was too slight. No problem. I booked the surgery for early March and was all set. The procedure itself only took about a minute or two (maybe less) but the care leading up to it was really great. They give you something to help calm you down, and they really take the time to make sure you understand the procedure step by step. I have been to this office about 5 times in the past month. Between surgery day, second day follow up, and a few weekly post-op check ups to ensure that everything was healing okay, I have to say my experience with Lasik has been really great. All of my questions were answered thoroughly, I was treated with politeness and respect, and they were very accommodating of my schedule needs and helped squeeze in my appointments even when they were already busy. One time, I even had to make a last minute change to an appointment and they were flexible and understanding. The only reason I didn't give this spot 5 stars is because even though it is conveniently located downtown by bus routes, parking is a real pain (lots nearby or underground are all pay parking) and with downtown construction you never know what you'll get. I ended up taking multiple Ubers just for the convenience, even though it probably cost more. Seriously, if you're considering getting your eyes done, at least book a consult. They can answer all your questions and help you decide if this is what's right for you. I would 10/10 do it again. And I will once my left eye needs it, too. read more

--- May 10, 2018 --- original Surgery went very well 12 years ago. Went to my personal optometrist yesterday and still perfect vision. I called LASIK last week to go in for a check up because I believed my eyes had changed. They told me that my "lifetime warranty" that I purchased was no longer valid because I had not been in every year for monitoring. That was news to me! In the hour long conversation with the sales girl 12 years ago, this was never mentioned. I would have been happy to go there rather than pay my other optometrist. On that note, I did go see LASIK MD for a check up one year after my surgery. At that appointment there was reference to booking an appointment for next year, there was no reminder letter sent, there was no phone call received and there was no mention of ever coming back unless I have an issue. I have seen my personal optometrist every four years since surgery and apparently I would have needed to see them every two years in order to continue my coverage that I purchased, and that would've been only under special exception. BEWARE read the fine print and do not trust what they tell you as being correct! A contract is a contract and I am learning the hard way that LASIK MD will screw you. Even though they go over what seems to be everything in great detail, they don't tell you everything! Read all the fine print because it is not explained up front. The important parts are skirted over. ...But they are very happy to take your money! On a good note, they have offered to give me a discount should I ever need surgery again since the lifetime warranty that I purchased is now void. Thank you very much, but no thank you. More money to LASIK MD, no chance. Reinstate my warranty and I will consider sending my business your way. They are reinstating my lifetime warranty if I come in for an exam tomorrow ($90) and come back every two years for check ups. I am absolutely ok with this! As another reviewer said, the $500 per eye is a fantasy and a bait. You end up paying a lot more. For me, nothing went as advertised: the price, the fast recovery, the amazing results. I had a procedure called Monovision where one eye is supposed to see afar and the other from close. It's true that the surgery doesn't hurt, but as soon as the anesthetic is gone, it's awful: you can't open your eyes and you feel as you had sand in the eyes for several hours. For my 24 hrs consultation I was very scared since I completely lost my near vision (I only needed glasses to see afar and was able to see very well from close). I was not reassured of anything, nor told what was going on. The girl who saw me seemed really bothered as she didn't want to be there on a Sunday and have a client asking stuff. Instead she gave a me a pair of reading glasses and told me that I should avoid using them so my brain would adjust. Then I had an appointment set up in 2 weeks. Since I had no improvement I had another appointment in a month, then after two months and then after three months. My far vision took a long time to adjust. It was blurry or distorted and I kept suffering from awful headaches every other day. My near vision was gone and it was improving very slowly. I was told at every appointment that I should avoid using the reading glasses. I have a hand-made items store and I had to close it because I was not able to work. Note that I was never asked what I did for living. I was told that I "might" need reading glasses, but they never told you that you I would definitely lose my close vision. Also, when I did the initial test with the optometrist lenses, I could see so much better from close than I do. I was told that this option was the "compromise" one since I would not see at far at 100% since both eyes were not going to be corrected to see at a distance. I thought it was okay if I were to see as I was showed with the test lenses. If knew that I would loose my near vision I would definitely have waited for the surgery until the time I needed reading glasses for my every day life. For my 3 months' appointment my far vision was better, the headaches were less often but my close vision was not okay. Anyway, I was very surprised to learn that my eye to see from close was under-corrected and that I was seeing much less than I was supposed to. I was told that they had to send a note to the ophthalmologist to ask her if she was going to correct this eye right away or wait for 6 months. I was told that I didn't have to do anything, that they would contact me. I was a bit shocked and I didn't know how to react at the moment. Now it's been 4 weeks since that appointment and I haven't heard back rom Lasik and at this point, I don't know if I will have to undergo another surgery. No, I'm not happy at all and I would not recommend Lasik. read more

The used car salesman of the Laser surgery world. I have zero objections/complaints about the doctors etc. My complaint is with their predatory/unethical business practices. First off--nobody pays $490--that seems like a bit of a bait and switch. Second, their ''lifetime guarantee" is dependent on going back every 2 years for a consultation. If you're anything like me--it's a bit of stretch to remember to do something every two years--but very well--rules are rules. You would also have to pay $90 for each every 2 year visit---- that's starting to suck. After 12 years post-surgery, my vision started to decline. :S So I tried to take advantage for the lifetime guarantee--I was declined summarily, because I hadn't gone to the ever-two-year check-ups. Unfortunate, but fair enough. Then, when I tried to book an appointment and have the advertised "free consultation" to see about getting my eyes re-fixed- I was informed that because I was an existing customer there's no free consultation--and I would have to pay. Obviously, I was less than impressed. LasikMD does good work from a medical perspective- but is pretty slimy when it comes to the fine print. Update: It appears I was a bit hasty to disparage LasikMD, they not only reached out to me, but proposed solution to my complaints that was agreeable and fair. Not many companies show that kind of commitment to customer service-- so I've officially gone from a dissatisfied customer, to a satisfied one! Bravo. read more

The staff is very friendly and the doctor who did my surgery was very understanding and talked me through the whole experience (my vision was great even the next day). Horrible experience. My son was so excited to finally say goodbye to glasses and contacts that we went to his appointment in such good spirits. Over the years I have met dozens of people who have had this surgery and all had very thick glasses and strong prescriptions. Not one person ever told me they were not a candidate so needless to say the thought never crossed our mind. We were going there to do the testing and get our apppointment for the surgery. To our total surprise and with zero bedside manner we were told in the middle of the exam "IT All STOPS HERE!" My son and i just looked at ourselves having no clue what he meant. He saw our puzzled look and he repeated "it all stops here! You dont qualify so try us again in 2 years. Your prescription is too strong". He is a +4.50 and +5.00.... not that bad.. I strongly suggest they update their staff on bedside manners or at least send them for some training on people skills and they should realize that it can be devastating for some people to be told they dont qualify for this surgery. Maybe a SORRY in there would have been appropriate. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

tried to book an appointment. was directed to a call centre where I was asked a lot of questions by the call centre operator (some personal) and when I asked some questions of my own - she gave me the total run around, never directly answering my questions. I have never been so frustrated in my life trying to book an appointment. I just hope that the optometrists who I'll be meeting with will be more helpful, and that the surgeons doing the actual operation, will know what they are doing. If the rest of the staff is anything like that operator, I'm hightailing out of there. Woman - I just want an appointment. Not to date you. read more
