I had written a long review - and didn't save it! So sorry, this one will be short and sweet!…read more I met Sean Collins of Benoit Real Estate who was the first (of many many) rental agents to treat me like a paying customer. He had excellent manners, a great demeanor, and was VERY knowledgeable. He also listened, which was something I have not come across with any of the agents I had met. Sean realized I had a unique situation and put me in touch with Shane, the owner of Benoit. I thought for sure, he would be just like the other agents - only more so since it was more money! I was wrong. He was great to work with, helpful, and knowledgeable too. The owner of the agency took the time to meet with me and give me solid advice for free. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this agency. They are not just looking for the next check, but looking for good customers. If you want great service, to know that your money matters, and people who REALLY know the area - Benoit Real Estate in Davis Sq is your place! I look forward to working with Sean and Shane again in the very near future! Thank you so much for all of your help!

Amidst the sea of potential agents, I am beyond grateful to have found Shane!…read more Shane's knowledge and experience are unmatched. His network is extensive, and his intuition is sharp. He lined up the perfect people to do the work needed in my condo before selling and got the right people through the door for the open house. In addition, he did an extensive search of similar properties in my area to determine the perfect asking price. My place sold in one week (over asking!) thanks to Shane. Throughout the process, I felt comfortable asking as many questions as I needed to. He was responsive and always explained things in a way that set my mind at ease. He's also a great listener and respectful of the urgency that comes with the territory of selling or buying a home. If you want an agent who is connected, invested, and gives 110%, I highly recommend Shane.

We would tell frank things and he would forget. He did that ALOT. He didn't have his back as a real estate agent should. Kept asking if we were attending the closing and we kept having to tell him we werent attending and made arrangements with the closing atty. He never kept us informed as to when the final walkthrough was with the buyer. He seemed to be on the buyers side instead of on the sellers side. This dude showed up to get the contract signed take pictures and thats about it. I also want to mention that i spoke to his broker a few weeks into the transaction and told him my concerns and they fell on deaf ears. This dude made almost $10K for doing nothing. Steer clear of this agency and of frank. You really don't need a real estate agent to sell your home. Save your money and sell it yourself. These people are major scammers.

We and the seller had an instant agreement and everything went smoothly until Mr. Veneziano started to make an issue of paying a commission to a buyer's agent. Anyhow, it became a war between two real estate agents and both the seller and us were completely stressed out and dragged into something we should not be part of. Things ended up in a regional Realtor arbitration where we quickly noticed that Mr Veneziano had a lot of friends among the arbiters. The war between the two real estate agency further escalated with us and the seller in being used, abused, and dragged through the process Anyhow, we just wanted to move on and we offered to pay the commission by ourselves, which Mr. Veneziano accepted. Unfortunately, the buyer's agency could not allow us as their customer to get ripped off by Mr. Veneziano. Eventually, things ended up in court. My wife and I along with two of our children ended up in a huge mass and all we really wanted is just to buy the house and get the kids into a new school system. This was for the first time I visited a courthouse. The sellers were very supportive, but apparently they had a contract with Mr. Veneziano and were held hostage by him. At the end, things were decided in court and we got our house. In the process, we became friends with the seller, who are now visiting us fairly frequently giving us all kinds of valuable information about our new neighborhood. Mr Veneziano and his RE/MAX Andrew Realty Services agency, however, needs to be avoided for any cost. He is a very impulsive, vulgar, aggressive, and greedy person. You and your family deserves better, so try not to engage with Andrew Realty either as your seller agent or your buyer agent, or anything in-between.

I just tried to give zero stars, and it wouldn't let me…read more My husband and I had to work with GMRE to see an apartment we saw on Craigslist in April. We know that apartments typically get rented within a day, if not hours, of being posted on Craigslist, so we were prepared to win. We have been looking for a reasonably-priced (max $1300) 1+ bedroom in Somerville for over a year, and have struggled -- we currently live in a teeny apartment on Winter Hill and want to stay in the area, since my husband teaches at the high school. We are both public employees and can't afford to pay $1500 or $1600 for an apartment. So, when we saw this place, we contacted the agent for GMRE listed on the ad, and made it clear we were serious about getting this place and were willing to do anything to see it first. It only cost $1100 for two bedrooms, and they offered off-street parking for our one car, and would also allowed our cat. Even better, they had lead-free paint, which is critical to a young couple like us that is hoping to start a family (but who are stymied by the high cost of renting a 2-bedroom). We said we were willing to put down any amount in order to secure it -- in my experience, getting an apartment comes down to seeing it first and bringing your checkbook. Apparently not with these guys. When we asked to see it, we were told to come by two days later, on Good Friday. Since we celebrate Good Friday, we asked if they could show it to us sooner. After a lot of hemming and hawing, they agreed, and we made an appointment to see it Wednesday night after work. Dan told us "hopefully you'll be the first ones to put in your application -- lots of people want this place!" About ten minutes after we made the appointment, the apartment was RE-POSTED on Craigslist with a different agent's name as an "Open House." WTF?????? Not cool. I should have known then. So we freaked out, we got to the appointment 10 minutes early, and even though there were about 30 people there (annoying), we were the first ones to put down an application. We put money down immediately. We have near-perfect credit, steady income, good jobs and outstanding references from our current tenant. We were thrilled to hear that the landlords, who lived on the first floor, are Italian (like me) and speak Italian (also like me). We waited for days to hear. After having our phone calls go un-returned, we finally got Dan on the phone. He told us it "was between us and another guy" who had gone back the next day with his girlfriend to meet the landlord. Funny. WE were told the landlord didn't want to meet prospective tenants. And when we asked to be given the opportunity to meet the landlords, we were denied. Yet they still ran our credit report, dinging our scores for no reason. And to make matters worse, they kept our down payment and stopped returning our calls and emails attempting to get our check back for days. We obviously never had a chance of getting the place, yet they wasted our time, tied up our money and hurt our credit by needlessly checking our report. Who knows why they favored the other couple? I don't care -- just don't string me along and lie to me. They never even called our current landlord for reference. And, as you'd expect, we still haven't found another apartment. We are quiet, we shovel, we take out the trash, we make small repairs to our unit and we pay our rent early every month. But that apparently counts for nothing. I will never, ever work with GMRE again.

I actually found GMRE through a site called padmapper.com (which I highly recommend) and was lucky enough to stumble across a truly fantastic apartment. The pictures were great, the posting was clear and concise, and the cost was very fair. I e-mailed, told a little about myself and I said I was available the next night for a showing. Within a few hours, William (the owner) set me up with a time! The apartment was fantastic as stated before, but William (our rental agent) was just as good; super friendly, very well spoken, and incredibly knowledgable. After the showing, he drove us to the T and wished us good luck. I went home, filled out the application, faxed it the next morning, and by mid afternoon that day, I had an awesome new apartment that I'm so excited about. He then set up a meeting for us with the owner, and we went over the lease, sat down at his office, and talked for about 45 minutes and really got to know our new landlord. I believe this was absolutely invaluable, and the whole process took about 4 days, start to finish. HIGHLY recommend!

They were well paid for this service, and well aware of the difficulties of this particular project when they took it on. In the contract I agreed to every suggestion they'd made that would make the apartment desirable and easy to rent. It was a disaster. They failed to manage their contractor and it took them a year, with some work still undone now, in March 2025. They missed the September 1st rental target (when the propoderance of Cambridge leases renew). As a result, I had to reduce the rent they inititally proposed by 23%, and it did not rent until March 2025. This was especially painful since I had based the financing of the large project on their written estimate of rental income, which I then provided to the bank (with Skylines knowledge). Their response to missing this important leasing deadline was "You'll make it up later" But they offered no consideration for the damage during construction, including lost items and damaged art and antiques. It's "pay me" not matter what. A one way street. Alex, the owner, is a strict constructionist if the contract favors him. If not, he'll just make things up, and get nasty. Issam, Exec VP, is wont to say "as we discussed" when I have no memory of any such. Alex and Issam have a "good cop - bad cop" routine going, and I deeply regret having hired them. I advise being very cautious if you decide to engage.

In the 4 years we were with RCG, they were a great property management company. Their team of managers was always very responsive and attentive to the building. They proactively solved building issues and notified us promptly with updates that affected us. They were always very professional. We paid rent through their website which was convenient and easy. Anytime we had a maintenance issue, they always responded and solved it promptly. They had a 24-hour emergency hotline in case any issues happened outside of business hours. Their snow removal service was great as well. Occasionally the quality of maintenance repairs was not great, but when asked they always followed up and resolved any issues. They were very flexible with us, allowing us to sublet the unit once during our lease. When we did not renew our lease, RCG started allowing realtors to show the unit 6 months before the new lease would start, which was pretty early. Realtors were coming through our apartment several times per week for ~3 months before someone signed, and we had to respond to each realtor by email to coordinate showing times. We were very accommodating to everyone, but this was somewhat intrusive and a hassle for us. We understood that these showings would have happened at any apartment we could have lived in, but maybe the screening process could have been better to weed out people who weren't serious. I loved the apartment I was in, but every year was process was like pulling teeth. They will badger you the second you've gotten settled in about resigning (the early December of a September lease) and will give you little time to consider. While they expect you do fill out everything instantly their office will be utterly inept. Constantly losing your paperwork, forgetting to add all tenants to email threads (or using incorrect email addresses), and just failing to properly read the content of the emails they do open. They struggle to respond at all to concerns with the apartment or repairs, but they actual employees who handle contracting the repairs are probably the only people who are somewhat competent. Just email them directly because the main office can barely tie their shoes on their own. Also their leases are a day short of a full year so make sure to plan to be homeless for a day before moving into your next apartment as you will need to be out a day earlier and by 9am! I have had unresponsive landlords and I have had bad landlords, but never have I felt like I was being fleeced by the most braindead people on the planet. There needs to be laws against companies operating like this.
