We stopped at Latah Creek while visiting Spokane Valley. It is a lovely location with great seating and a wonderful ambience. We did a wine tasting of the standard six pre-selected "The Pour by Natalie Tasting" and then a "your choice" tasting. My taste buds were blown away! I have NEVER tasted a better Moscato! The Orange Moscato is knock your socks off amazing! The Sweet Riesling and Huckleberry d'Latah were both incredible, as well. I don't usually like Pinot Grigio, but this one was out of this world! The wines were so good, we came back the next day (before my son's wedding) and brought friends and family with us. We ordered wine to be shipped to Texas because it is THAT good AND the prices are amazing! With an average price of about $17/bottle, you just can't beat that! It is worth the cost of shipping! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. For a small fee, we had a custom label created for our son and his new bride to commemorate their wedding day! When we visit family, we will be back. In the meantime, I will be placing orders to be shipped to Texas. This is a can't-miss visit if you like wine and you're in Spokane Valley! I know I said amazing about a half-dozen times, but it is the perfect description! read more

Natalie (daughter of the family who started the winery in 1983), did a stellar job giving us a tour of the winery and the winemaking process. We ended up trying several bottles including one of my new favorites, Huckleberry which is 93% Riesling, and not overly sweet. I would highly recommend this as one of your stops when you do the wine tour in Spokane. read more

This winery is a gem! Located very close to Spokane Valley, the exterior is beautiful and once you walk in, it's extremely welcoming, with an adorable display of wine gifts and nibbles. The owner, Mike, was very friendly and filled me in on the history of the family owned business. Tracy and Jerry were terrific hosts and poured an amazing flight of Pinot Gris, huckleberry wine, and several reds. Loved the wine much that I bought a case of several of my favorites. When I was in Spokane a few weeks ago, I HAD to stop in to pick up 6 bottles of one of my favorite Pinot Gris...and was so pleasantly surprised at the cozy and fun atmosphere! It was about 11am on a Friday and the place was hopping! People were eating, drinking and laughing - and the space is just exactly what you want out of a winery. I was disappointed that I couldn't stay but will plan to do so next time I am in town. Also? The Pinot Gris? FAN-tastic. I was nervous when I first experienced it because it has a bit of a pink cast to it and I thought I'd been poured a rose by mistake. Nope - it was DE-licious and I've purchased a few cases since then. Great wine and great place! read more

Established in 1982, pioneers of wine making in Washington, loved this winery tasting room! The service here is top notch by people that make you feel you are being entertained at their home. Gratis cheeses, crackers and chocolate are offered at each table, five pours are $5, and tasting fee is waived with purchase of any bottle. Average cost of a bottle is $12. Not only are the wines incredibly delightful, but the price is unbeatable. Most of the wines are on the sweeter side, so it's perfect for people who love sweet and fruit forward. Their extensive list runs from huckleberry wine to Maywine and Sangria. But they are also known and lauded for their merlot in Wine Spectator magazine. MY favorites: Pinot Gris, Rose de Malbec, Maywine, Huckleberry d'Latah. The gift shop is vast, and extends into the wine cellar itself. You will find something perfect for any wine lover here. This would prob be my top choice for wine tasting as a destination. Absolutely wonderful and personable people here that will make you feel at home. read more

Good wines and a fun time at the lovely Latah Creek winery tasting room in Spokane when we visited there a couple of weeks ago. Friends in Coeur d'Alene tipped us off to Latah Creek as a destination before our overnight stay in Spokane and a very good tip it was. In "timing is everything" our visit to Latah Creek coincided with their 28th business anniversary so we got to participate in a special wine tasting and food event in the winery's barrel room with entertainment provided by a local jazz quartet. Great fun since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary too! (See photos posted.) We tasted all of the wines they were pouring that day - a dirty job but someone has to do it - and came away with some good bottles to add to our cellar at home including Sangiovese, Winemakers Reserve Petit Verdot and Monarch Red. They weren't pouring the latter as they were low in stock, but based on the great word of mouth for this wine, we bought the next to last bottle of the current vintage. And we even bought a bottle of the Huckleberry Wine which made for unexpectedly good summer sipping when we enjoyed it on a hot day last week along with a spicy Thai noodle dish. The tasting room and the barrel room event were both staffed by such friendly people, including the owners / winemaker who conveyed both a sense of welcome and delight to share their good wine with others. No tasting fee in the tasting room any time you stop in. We highly recommend a visit and wine purchases both! The tasting room also has a pretty good sized gift shop with wine and food related items. A tip: They are diligent about checking ID for everyone, even for those of us very evidently over 21, as Washington liquor codes apparently require for their kind of set up. If you don't have ID on you, you will not be served at the tasting bar and you'd miss out on the fun. So...don't be disappointed, go with ID. read more

Prices for tastings are very reasonable--six pours for $10. Of the six, five were delicious. I really wish they had some kind of snacks available. We were able to sit outside so we could enjoy the beautiful weather, but the seating was very uncomfortable and noisy. Seating indoors is limited. Lots of items are available for purchase, including serving pieces, coasters, clothing, and more. read more

There is very little positive that I have to say about my visit here. I can say with certain this is not a place we will return to. We, unfortunately, visited the winery on one of their sale weekends, so it was fairly crowded, but nothing unmanageable. They behaved as if they were understaffed, however, and their attitudes left much to be desired. We bought two tastings, and we decided to try as many of the wines as we could. Because we were taking our time and enjoying the experience, I got the distinct impression that we were annoying. The first mistake was that we didn't realize they specialized in sweet wines. Their whites are listed from dry to sweet, and we didn't get very far down the list before we hit the category I call "juice." The huckleberry wine was so horrible that we couldn't even convince ourselves it was worth a discounted price of $5 during their sale. If you are a fan of things like muscat and sweet Riesling, you will probably do fairly well here. I prefer reds, and sadly, none of the reds left any impression on me at all. We have been regularly visiting wineries in the area, after relocating from Western Washington last fall, and at every location, there is always one or two that really wow us. Latah left us completely unmoved. To add insult to injury, we were more or less ignored for another couple that came in after us. I don't know if it's an age issue or if they appeared more well-to-do (didn't know I needed a blazer for the weekend?), but the employees' preference for the other couple was clear - and off-putting. I suppose it was appropriate to cater to them in the end, as the woman seemed to love the higher the sickeningly sweet factor went. It was sad to see people so apparently uninterested in wine. One of the things I love about visiting wineries and tasting rooms is the passion for wine that you can find there. Generally, employees love to talk about wine. They want to talk about the process, the ingredients, the history, etc. We couldn't even get suggestions out of these people, other than, "Well, I hate that wine, so take what you will." Um. Thanks. All in all, I felt as if we were not valued customers, and I am relieved they don't have any wine that I would miss drinking. read more

These guys are known for being one of the oldest wineries in Spokane and also for making wine from fruit concentrates like Huckleberry! Peggy served us Sunday afternoon, and it was by far the best tasting we have ever had! She was incredibly personable and very knowledgeable. Of all the wineries we have visited all over the world, she was the most genuine. Peggy obviously loves wine and sharing her love with anyone who walks through the door. The winery itself is based on beliefs you can get behind. Mike, the owner, believes on keeping costs down. All of the wines we tasted were delicious and very unique. We stopped at Latah Creek Winery on the way to Glacier National Park. What a really great place with exceptional customer service. Don and his wife went out of their way to make it a special visit for us. Since we traveled from Phoenix they made sure and packaged everything with special care so we would get it back home. They recently did some renovations to the tasting and merchandise areas and it really looks nice. They also give an excellent military discount, which means a lot that they honor the service men and women. Thank you so much for making our visit extra special! Once in a blue moon, I find a winery where every single wine they make is out of this world wonderful. Latah Creek is such a winery. All of their wines are great! Go to a tasting and you will see. The Huckleberry d'Latah is my favorite. It is sweet and wonderful, with delicious fruity berries. They have a huge gift shop filled with cute things to decorate your wine collection or kitchen. Sign up for their newsletter and you will find out about upcoming releases. I went to the release of their Monarch Red (another fine wine) release, and it was a great event with mini food samples and a tasting of their delicious new wine. read more

For my bachelorette party, we hit a series of wineries and bars on our way to our final destination in beautiful CDA, ID. This was our first stop and looked pretty quiet and low key upon first arrival. We ended up being served wine tastings by the two sisters that work there and they were AWESOME! They had such great personalities and kept the conversation alive! The win was delicious and there were so many great things to look at. I enjoyed my time here. read more

The wine was very good but the service was horrible. We came in with a group of 11 people with only 8 people tasting. We were told the large groups usually call ahead but that they would still serve us. They made one person pay ahead for all tasting fees before they would serve us. When they did serve us it was very disorganized. When it came time to buy wine we were confused about how our tasting fee was credited back. The lady was extremely rude. Was there on a Sunday afternoon looking for some fun good wine and a few gifts. The wine was excellent and the winery quite beautiful, however the customer service was not excellent or beautiful. There was a young woman working who had a mean attitude and the wardrobe that says I don't care. We tried asking a few questions about their wine and what she would recommend. She was instantly rude and very unhelpful. She was to busy on her phone . Another couple in the winery approached us and explained that she was always rude and they normally would not visit the winery on Sunday. We were just about to leave when a nice looking young man came around the corner and asked if he could help us. My husband said only if you're not as rude as the young woman. We let him know she was unwilling to help us and that she been on her phone. He then let us know that she was his wife. None the less he was extremely helpful and offered us several samples, but he acted weird after our complaint. He was pleasant and offered to put a few gift baskets together as we were there to shop for Birthday gifts. We did end up spending a lot of money as the wine was excellent. In the end I would go back just not on a Sunday. Hopefully the other employees are not as strange as this couple. read more
