The staff at Lauer Real Estate got me locked out of my apartment twice--the first day of my lease, when I called a locksmith they never reimbursed me for (I had to take it out of last month's rent), then when the keypad for the building died (stranding my cat without food for multiple days). Today, when I tried to track down my missing deposit (classic for them to never pay tenants back and delete maintenence requests without service), they responded by calling me a curse word. Not hyperbole: these people run a bizarrely rude, health hazardous, and potentially fraudulent business at the expense of their tenants. I rented from Lauer for 3 years, so this review is of their property management, not their real estate business. The bad: 1. Lease renewals. Every November I would get an email telling me I had 2 weeks to renew my lease or they would start showing the property to prospective tenants. My lease started in August, so I was surprised that renewal was required 3 months in. And this is not an empty threat: one year I did not renew in November and sure enough they started walking people through my place. 2. Maintenance. Almost all maintenance no matter how specialized is handled by general contractors. For instance, a raccoon family moved into the attic. A contractor came by and boarded up the hole they got in through, trapping them inside. When I pointed this out, he came back and chased the mother out and boarded up the hole again. Now the mother was trapped outside and her babies were trapped inside. This whole scenario played out again the next year. The good: 1. Hailee is great. She responded to emails and maintenance requests quickly and was always professional. 2. They use an app for maintenance requests and rent payments, which makes life easier. Lease renewals are handled via docusign, so no need to go to their office. 3. My rent was very reasonable even as most other property managers were jacking up rents post-pandemic. 4. Lauer left me alone. There were no regular inspections or anything like that. Also there were never any hidden fees. In sum: Would I rent from Lauer again? Yes. Would I be excited about it? We started renting May of 2023 and everything was going fine but when we told them we wouldn't be renewing our lease they wouldn't answer any type of communication we tried calling, texting and email with no response. Yes there was recently a bad storm and I'm sure that'll be their excuse but I was trying to reach out to them weeks before the storm bc we are leaving earlier than the 31st and don't know how to return the one key they gave us. We have always been on time with rent and never caused any problems so this kind of treatment is just unacceptable. So know here we are with just 4 days left till we leave no idea how to get in touch with our landlord, a tree on our house from the storm, a broken window that they've been saying they were going to fix and carpet that has been coming up in corners of the rooms since we moved and they never fix as well. read more

If negative stars were an option, I would use them. As a property owner using Lauer Real Estate Group,LLC as my property manager, my experience was terrible. My three-bedroom, three-bath condo was left in a disgusting state after tenants did not pay rent for 2 months and vacated the unit--property was filthy, cockroach-infested, with major maintenance issues. Despite Casey's claims of showing the property, it was clearly unfit for viewings. The property manager retained the tenant's entire $800 security deposit and still sent the tenant to collections for additional damages. I was promised the entire security deposit as a homeowner (via email) but received only $19.50 with unclear invoice details from Casey's wife, who manages the office operations now (after Haley - who was wonderful - left the company). Lauer Real Estate Group,LLC showed a complete lack of transparency and professionalism. I used the contact form on their website to inquire about a collections from their property management company on a potential tenant's credit report. A young man called me back. My intention was to find out if my applicant was their tenant or a guarantor for someone else, and if their tenant I wanted a reference. The young man was curt and said if "it's on the credit report then we reported her for collections, what else do you want to know?", "our records are in storage, we don't manage that property anymore". Ya think? That property owner likely fired them. This is the first time I've dealt with this property management company, which are a dime a dozen in Tallahassee. Listen...you should know better when you see 90 negative google reviews and a ton of bad yelp reviews. Lauer Real Estate Group, LLC is simply not fit to be in the real estate business. I am a licensed real estate agent in the State of Florida so therefore I am well versed with tenant rights. Lauer Real Estate Group unlawfully refused to return our full security deposit and provided no response to their reasoning. Their inspection report cited broad infractions such as "cleaning" and "wall damage". We had ZERO wall damage and have the pictures to prove it. We also paid $250 for a deep clean before we moved out so that we would not be charged. Even if you leave the house better than it was when you moved in, you will not get your money back. No matter what you do with your house. THEY WILL NOT RETURN YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT. Although it is against the law to do so without proper reasoning AND proof for that reasoning, there are hundreds of reviews between Yelp, Google, and Facebook that will show you what they are truly doing to their tenants. If you were in anyway professional you'd actually listen to the 90+ negative reviews you have instead of spending your time on clapping back at costumers reviews who trusted you and you failed to properly treat with dignity! Like I said they are SCAMMERS SAVE YOUR TIME GUYS!! She claims I wasn't qualified saying I don't have credit when she sends me an email of a credit score template where you can clearly tell she just typed in my info and saved it as a file through Microsoft (Know how to properly use a computer). On top of that I get alerts when my credit has been checked yet I haven't received one yet!!! (She so called checked my score 1/10/2022). My credit score is above 700 might I add and when I applied I was told atleast a 600 was needed but they mainly focused on rental history (Mine is fantastic!! Never missed a payment, clean, and very neighborly CALL THEM ALL). So "WHICH ONE IS IT KAREN?!!" Sounds like discrimination if you ask me. They literally don't communicate with tenants. My apartment has been broken into, overrun by pests and falling completely apart due to the fact that they don't follow through with maintenance requests. It honestly seems like they don't even acknowledge them being that my sink drain in the kitchen has literally been held together by duct tape(my doing) since the beginning of my lease and my washing machine has not been working for TWO FREAKING MONTHS!! The first time I'm leaving a review on yelp and honestly it's because I'm just that upset. Scheduled a walkthrough at the end of March for May 1st (due to COVID-19). The gentlemen who did our walkthrough, first told us to be "orderly" and essentially had the lady who was living there (who didn't know we were coming) walk us through to show us her house. It was a beautiful property and we wanted to go through with it and sign the lease. After a week of calling to try and figure out how to even apply on their website, we finally got very vague answers but still applied. They were prompt in approving our applications, and Hailee texted me early that morning saying I could put down a deposit and she would send the link to the lease for us to sign (mind you this was also very confusing for us, we had a bunch of questions). I responded that I would like to go over the lease first and she NEVER responded. I spent the entirety of my day calling, and finally Leslie answered (probably their most helpful employee) and said that Hailee handles the leases and she'd send it over in about 30 minutes when she gets back to the office. We NEVER got the "link" or were emailed our leases. The next morning we get another text saying that unfortunately somebody else had placed their deposit for that property and that we could transfer our applications over to another property. Trying to remain calm and professional, I looked at their website and not to my surprise, everything available honestly needed a good bulldoze and rebuild. I responded to Hailee, again, and told her we would look and see but that we are not happy given the circumstances. No response. Called the office 7 times between the 2 of us who applied, finally got an answer from the same unhelpful gentleman who "walked" us through. "Hailee handles the leases so I don't know. If that's what she said then that's what it is I guess." I explained that I didn't know how this even happened when we were ready to put a deposit down and due to their lack of communication we were unable to. He did issue us a refund on our applications so I guess we'll see if we even get that. Needless to say, they are very unprofessional and are terrible at communicating. See previous reviews. House we rented was great, but I definitely attest to waiting in vain for work orders and unprofessionalism in the front office and from Casey Lauer himself. Left a lease early on good terms for work purposes, with assurances that everything was taken care of. I get an angry email a couple months later that they're sending my account into collections the next day unless paid in full and that they haven't heard from "[my] company". A few frantic phone calls later, it turns out that "my company" had made several attempts over several weeks to contact Lauer with no response. I had also called several times in that span asking if anything else was needed to please call me back and let me know (via voicemail of course, because the office rarely picks up). Nothing. After calling probably 15 times I might have gotten someone on the phone twice. They also have a personal item that we left behind and asked to be mailed to us, and Lauer told us that he was not inclined to return it to us because we were in so much "debt". Think of your deposit as part of the rent when you rent with these people. They refuse to do a walk thru with you at the end of the lease. Then they make up stuff to keep the money. A $175 cleanup fee for a place that was left spotless. Damage to walls that was already there but they charged the prior tenant did not repair and they charge you too. They are thieves! read more

As a property owner who had Lauer manage a couple of properties for a few years I would NEVER recommend anyone use their services. I had basic issues like missing and incorrect statements, the properties were not maintained well even though I never said "no" to a single repair request that was made to me, and when I decided to sell my properties they were terrible working with the selling agents. BEWARE!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. Never in my life have I run in to such unprofessionalism. Rented for nearly 2 years with out a single late payment. When we needed a repair on the house we practically had to beg. When our refrigerator broke for the fifth time we were told buying a new one was not in the budget...That was just one of many issues. I bought a house and left 1 month early (after Casey Lauer assured me he would have no problem renting it out) a month goes by and I get a call that I needed to pay the last months rent (1300.00) and be I left early I would have to forfeit my security deposit. I spoke with Casey Lauer and he threatened that he would "ruin me" and actually told my husband to "Suck my _____" as I write this, I still cannot believe it. Today I got served papers that have a laundry lis of fictitious " repairs" in the amount of almost 5,000 dollars. See you in court, Casey. You may have gotten away with Bullying people in the past but believe me when I tell you that you've got the wrong person! Rented from them for almost a year and got evicted due to non payment of rent which is absolutely understandable.. I was a single mom of 2 and in my 8th month of pregnancy with my 3rd child. They put an eviction with no move out date so I worked extremely hard to find another place to live because I was on a time limit but had no idea how long I had to get out then one day I open the door with a 24 hour to vacate they threw me and my kids out with no where to go no car just the stroller for my son and I watched them throw all my stuff out to the curb broke all my valuables and threw our clothes in the dirt.. and don't get me wrong I totally understand that I was behind.. my hours got cut at work and I tried my hardest to pay my rent and my other bills but failed they tried to work with me but it just didn't work out towards the end they became extremely agitated with me would constantly text my personal number being rude and nasty to me and try to show the home while me and my kids were still living there. When they threw us out they where so heartless and non compassionate the guy Casey said I needed to get my shit and get out of his property.. so when I did find someone to help me get the remaining stuff that was still good which was pretty much the clothes and frozen food they threw out of the fridge out of the dirt.. it was very sad for me cause I had no where to go with my kids. Before they put the eviction out I called them asked them if they could work with me and they said yes what ever I have just pay that and I did.. so after I gave them the little bit of money I did have they put the eviction out.. so not only did they take the money I could have used to move they ended up throwing me and my 2 small children out with no where to go and left us standing there in the field across the street.... I understand they needed there money and I tried my hardest and people gotta do what they gotta do but there is a point when compassion should come into play.. the officer who was there didn't even really help me either... ... the home was a roach motel they took forever to fix things that needed to be fixed the ac was so bad when I first moved in I put in a work order to get it fixed and it got approved and then the land lord canceled the request cause they didn't want to pay to replace the whole ac unit outside lots of cosmetic issues that should have been fixed before people moved in actually before the unit was even shown but I dealt with it... I would advice looking into these folks before moving into one of there properties I should have did my research but thought they were ok ... they have one star for a reason and it seems that they don't care and arnt really doing anything to fix it read more

For the love of god, please please please DO NOT rent from Lauer. We moved into one of their houses because it was a nice size for a good price. That being said, the integrity of this company is so low. After moving out, Lauer went to every length to take as much of our security deposit as possible. Even though we moved out early (still paying for our rent so that we weren't breaking our lease), Lauer still waited almost 2 months to inspect the property and send us a claim, which by the way, is ILLEGAL, since they are supposed to do it within a month of MOVE OUT. They know that it would cost us more money to file suit against them, so they can get away with it. PLEASE, no matter what decent price you can get for a property here, it is not worth the frustration. Every time you call the office, IF you manage to get someone on the phone, you'll just be passed off from person to person. And god forbid if you call more than once about a problem, you'll get a different answer because no one seems to know what they're doing or talking about.
