    Chicken caesar salad wrap.

I'm only giving a 2 star because their banana pudding is really good. Unfortunately I was served a dry ceasar salad wrap. I'm not sure if I've ever been to a restaurant where a ceasar salad is ever served dry with the dressing on the side. However, I've definitely never ordered a wrap where the contents on the inside are dry. I could not believe what I was biting into. Dry lettuce and dry crunchy chicken. Most of what I bit into were cartilage pieces of the chicken as well. I've been coming here for years, and I've always wondered if it was just the type of things that I ordered that were dry, or just how they make them. After this time though, I can no longer recommend this restaurant. Which breaks my heart because I love the environment, and the history of the restaurant. If anyone in the back is reading this, please do not serve dry lettuce and dry chicken in a wrap. Topping it with dressing does not make the bite enjoyable. It felt like it was bark. I couldn't continue eating.

On a road trip through Texas, we stopped in Mt. Pleasant for lunch. This place looked promising, and we always find these old Texas downtowns with the city hall squares so charming. There were a few well-rated spots in town, but we landed here. We ordered the stuffed avocado -- a full order with one stuffed with chicken and one with beef. My main gripe? Ditch the ranch and go with actual sour cream. Ranch is fine and all, but sour cream would have been the better move. I'm a sucker for a beef sandwich with a dipping sauce, so I couldn't resist. But, fair warning -- the meat was still kinda dry and chewy even with the dipping sauce. A little disappointing. Now, where this place really redeemed itself wasn't the namesake cheesecake -- but the cookies! We grabbed two to go, and wow -- the dark chocolate one with sea salt was the true highlight. We also got a slice of cheesecake to go (because, you know, it's in the name), and it was good -- but honestly, I'd skip the cheesecake and go straight for the cookies next time.

The food and the desserts were well worth the stop off the highway! I barely got a bite of the Double Cookie my hubby ordered. It was two snickerdoodle cookies with cinnamon-flavored cream in the middle. I had the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake slice - so rich and smooth! For lunch, my (picky) son finished almost his whole bowl of Mac & Cheese and side of ham. I tasted it. It was good & cheesey - not salty like what comes out of a box. I had a cup of Chicken Tortilla Soup and half of Italian Gobbler sandwich. Sorry, no pics. We ate them too quickly. They did not skimp on the turkey meat and the Swiss cheese was melted nicely to the focaccia (which was not hard). My dad had the daily special - Chicken Spaghetti on Fridays. It was so good. I've never had such a dish, but I would go back on a Friday for it! The owner took our order. She was so kind and very happy to hear that we had stopped after seeing the restaurant name on the blue highway sign. We were looking for a place to get lunch. So so glad we stopped and decided to dine in. The place looks amazing for being historic and was so welcoming. You could go a get dessert to go or choose a table to dine in. Several tables of various sizes and shapes are available to accommodate everyone from couples to large families. Our table was bussed as we ate our meal which was nice. I love the feel of the restaurant and everything we tasted, too! When passing Mt. Pleasant again, we will definitely stop in!

Stopped in during a recent trip to the area. Prices were reasonable and staff typical Texas friendly. Ordered the pot pie daily special, California chicken wrap with tortill chips and Jeffrey's verde power bowl for lunch followed by raspberry cheese cake and banana pudding for dessert with strawberry basil infused water to drink. All of the food was delicious and the water was refreshing. Wish every small town had a Laura's cheesecake restaurant! Can hardly wait until we come back to try the other daily specials!

Met the GM Suzanne - she was thrilled it was our first time in beautiful Mt Pleasant. I know because she gave me a free cookie. . Food was fresh - broccoli/cheese soup was money and the house salad with jalapeño chicken was on-point. Great location on the city square / plenty of parking. Great visit.

Excellent and exceptional food and service! We were treated like old friends and feed well. We will definitely be back. Breakfast was delicious! They have dine in or take out, but you will want to eat in and stay awhile. The friendly staff and customers are part of the experience. Thank you Suzanne for knowing how to cook excellent food and combine it with top notch service. This is definitely a treasure!

Only open for lunch but the food is good and reasonably priced. The best part are the fresh baked sweets!
