I woke up and decided I wanted to find my wedding dress that day. As some of you know, it's nearly impossible to do walk-ins at bridal shops. After going to a few and trying to schedule a few appointments, which we successfully did for later in the evening, we called BE. They had just opened and advised they could fit us in immediately. As soon as I walked in the door, I was welcomed by a few of the staff members. The interior of the building was decorated gorgeously. Private bridal suites, with couches, chairs for guests and extremely large mirrors. A separate room with a large mirror to dress in private. Devon introduced herself and informed me she would be my bridal consultant for the appointment. Devon led me back to a private viewing room and asked to see pictures and pinterest boards of wedding dresses I liked. She asked specifically what I liked about it, what I disliked and what I was indifferent on. After going through the run down, Devon personally measured me to ensure the dresses I tried on would fit. The best part was that Devon wasn't awkward about seeing me in undergarments or somewhat naked when trying on dresses. She made me feel comfortable in my own body and not judged. After going to some previous shops, I wasn't measured and they guessed which led to me not being able to fit in certain gowns and getting stuck so this was very reassuring off the bat. Devon is hands down one of the most sweetest, kindest, outgoing, bubbly and most helpful consultant I've ever encountered. Devon listened to understand which was huge for me. Devon pulled a variety of dresses and helped me realize the dresses I liked in the photos, I didn't like on my body. We were able to figure out what dresses fit my body type and the very last dress Devon pulled happened to be my dream dress. Devon took me to the celebration suite when she asked if I was saying yes, then popped a bottle of champagne. They also gave my pregnant friend a sparkling water so she could enjoy as well. The owner came in and personally congratulated me and gave me compliments on the dress. After dressing out, they asked to take a yes picture to celebrate. All in all, this is hands down the best small business bridal shop I've ever been to. This experience made me so glad to have chosen this shop. Thank you ladies, you've outdone yourself

We were hit with an exorbitant rush-shipping fee, yet no one bothered to tell us when the item was ordered that rush shipping would even be necessary. Had we been informed upfront, we absolutely could have chosen a different item and avoided the ridiculous additional cost. Even more concerning, when we asked Bridal Extraordinaire to provide a receipt or documentation showing the actual rush-shipping charge, they refused. If you are charging a customer a substantial fee supposedly for expedited shipping, why would you be unwilling to show documentation of that charge? That lack of transparency felt incredibly deceptive. Their tuxedo rental prices were also significantly higher than other places we compared -- and not by a small amount. Wedding planning is stressful and expensive enough without having to wonder whether you are being fully informed about charges or whether additional fees are being marked up behind the scenes. Our experience left us feeling taken advantage of rather than valued as customers. Poor communication, excessive charges, and a troubling lack of transparency. We would NEVER shop here again.

Altar Bridal Review…read more I had the absolute pleasure of shopping at Altar Bridal for my very first wedding dress shopping experience. Nancy was a kind, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgable consultant who made me feel so comfortable and beautiful! She listened to what I wanted and made sure to show me plenty of dresses that fit that vision, but she also showed me some gorgeous dresses that were outside of my comfort zone. She explained all of her choices, why she picked them and how she thought they fit my vision or would make me feel and walked me through the details on each one. I knew I wanted to try a little of everything since I had never tried any sort of gowns on before and she delivered! I was able to see myself in a variety of silhouettes and styles, which really helped me narrow it down to the dress of my dreams. It's also worth noting that she was extremely respectful of my budget, which is something I was nervous about with dress shopping in general. I left the appointment feeling confident, beautiful, and so happy. I felt like Nancy was committed to finding me the dress of my dreams, regardless of where I ended up finding it. She was genuinely happy to hear about my second appointment at a different store and told me I'd have a great time. She also let me know that if I ended up wanting to move forward with a dress that I'd tried at Altar, all I would need to do is call and let them know. I never once felt pressured to buy anything from there, which was something I was also worried about with dress shopping in general. Ultimately, my second experience paled in comparison to the one at Altar. At the end of both appointments I knew that a dress I had picked out at Altar was the one for me (coincidentally, it was the very first dress Nancy had me try on, which I think speaks to how well she understood what I was dreaming of!). I called and talked to Sarah, who was also extremely kind and helpful, and told me the dress was mine! All of that aside, we had coffees in hand when we walked in for our early morning appointment and out of all the places we went to that weekend I think this one was tied for best overall experience. The first thing I loved, aside from the chic urban setting, was that each bride had her own dressing area that felt very private and despite other women using other areas of the shop our area felt very much ours, and we never even saw another bride which made the pacing relaxed. How the fittings work here is they take the bride to be to the back to pick out styles and learn a bit more about what she's looking for and then they come back and pull back a large curtain so the bride has privacy while dressing, they then reveal and you get a chance to talk through each look. The room was just as pretty as the dresses, it was comfortable, and we had a fun time. You should note that if you come with a drink like we did you will have to table them outside the room, which honestly made sense since we're dealing with some expensive gowns. Overall this wasn't the shop that my sister ended up picking a dress from but everyone was so kind, the dresses absolutely gorgeous and the ambiance so cool, this is a great shop and I'd recommend to anyone I know looking to buy a wedding dress.

I reached out to them and told them the truth, that I had already purchased the dress in California (where I'm getting married) but wanted to be able to have some other members of my family in KC be able to see the dress, so I was hoping to do an accessory appointment / veil shopping at Bride. My mom has already booked a flight from CA to KC for a Friday to Sunday trip (which I told them), and asked if I would be able to get a Saturday morning appointment. They proceeded to tell me that they only do accessory appointments on Tuesday-Thursdays. Odd, but I was hoping with an explanation of my situation, they might be willing to make an exception - they did not. They said that Saturday mornings are reserved strictly for first time bridal appointments, and there was nothing they could do about my scheduling issues, since they only have 2 stylists and not a lot of availability. Mind you, if I had told them that I had not bought the dress already and snagged that first time bridal appointment, and pretended I would be buying it from them, there would not be an issue, but I always like to be honest with people - and they don't care! They said there is absolutely nothing they can do, it is their policy. Mind you, veils are not cheap!!! It's not like I was asking for 3 hours of their time to go in and buy a $50 bracelet... I wanted an hour to be able to try on the dress and some different accessories and veils, and I was more than willing to give them my business, because shop small right! NO. They said for accessory appointments they can only book me on a Tuesday-Thursday and I only get 30 minutes... 30 minutes is all you can give me when I'm about to spend $$$$ on accessories for the dress? AND they're only open until 6... So you're telling me I need to come straight from work (30 minutes away) where I already feel gross and not in the mood to be happy and excited and I better make a decision in 30 minutes? I understand that there are rules, and that they can run their business however they want, but I was so disenchanted with the whole thing and their utter lack of leniency that even though they're the only store that has the dress in KC, I will not be giving them my business. They were not overtly rude to me, but my favorite thing about shopping local, and shopping small is that they usually are able to bend the rules and help you out since they are the ones in charge. Apparently, Bride does not feel this way. So word to the wise - only ever tell them you are doing a first time bridal appointment if you want them to actually help you and treat you well.

While my sister ended up up choosing another boutique's dress in the end, this one had beautiful gowns, an A+ staff, and a relaxed environment. When the bride went to pick up her dress she unzipped the bag, she saw it was the WRONG dress. The stylist had ordered the wrong dress. While they may have been apologetic the lack of communication afterwards was horrendous. They never reached out with a status on the order of the correct dress. All communication had to be initiated by the bride and the mother of the bride. Even when the dress arrived we were given two different times to pick up the dress. While I understand mistakes happen, this store's lack of communication and remorse for the inconvenience is a risk I wouldn't take as a bride. Good luck to those who shop here!

The store appeared poorly maintained - the carpet was noticeable dirty, the walls looked unclean, and the restroom was absolutely filthy. I walked in and turned around immediately; it was that bad. If I were the manager at that location, I would be deeply embarrassed by the lack of attention given to the store's appearance and condition. It's clear the cleanliness and customer comfort are not priorities at this location. Even the dresses on display appeared to be dragged across the dirty carpet, leaving the hems dingy and unappealing. I expected a higher standard from a brand like Davise Bridal.
