Such a wonderful little gem this is! We had breakfast there this morning. Everything was fresh and tasty! The scones are the best we have had on our trip. I had the porridge with almonds and honey. It was hot, creamy and delicious. Kevin had eggs on toast that came with plenty of fluffy just-made scrambled eggs. Prices are very reasonable. The clientele are regulars who live nearby. This is an absolutely charming establishment from the outside to the inside! Many breakfast/brunch/lunch choices that are delicious. The staff is very kind and attentive. My husband and I both had the French toast and bacon and it was flavorful and crisp. Latte and hot chocolate are both high winners! I found this place via Yelp, and I'm so glad I did. We love supporting small and locally-owned businesses, and we found a gem in this one. We ate breakfast here two of the three days we were in Edinburgh, and were happy to sit-in at one of the four tables inside. Laura does the cooking and baking, and her daughter serves and attends the counter. The food is absolutely delicious, and the baked goods are even better. I'm gluten-free (not by choice), and miss having a decent selection of gluten-free baked-goods options. Laura had just completed a batch of GF Sticky Toffee cupcakes and asked if I would be kind enough to try one for an unbiased review. Kind enough? Well, if you insist... Honestly, I hope those cupcakes alone make her famous. If you're in the area, please stop in and treat yourself. Small shop with only a few seats but everything fresh and made in house. Almost walked into what I thought was the back room but was actually the kitchen. Your server is also the cook and all the baked goods seemed to be made in house. Coffee was amazing and the full breakfast had everything to sample for a Scottish breakfast. After going to the wrong end of William St (thanks Yelp's silly map), we finally found Laura's and it was worth the wait. A sweet little place with a few small table rounds and a longer bar against the wall, it was more than enough for a sit down. I ordered the full Scottish breakfast and husband ordered a ham croissant and hot chocolate. My full breakfast came out with all the trimmings overflowing the plate: fried egg, beans, pancake, hash brown, mushrooms, bacon, sausage, haggis, corned beef, black pudding, toast and coffee! Talk about FULL. :) Everything was great - even the black pudding, which I ate until I made the mistake of asking what was in it. :P Rookie tourist. Husband's hot chocolate was beautiful and brimming with whipped cream and white and pink marshmallows. Laura (I assumed that was her name?) was lovely and friendly. A new wee gem in West End, with home made scones, home made marmalade, plenty of breakfast and lunch options, sandwiches, sit-in area! Laura heated it up the scone for me today, such a nice treat!! The marmalade was delicious, nicely put in a paper bug for take away. My cappuccino was spot on! Not too strong, with the milk heated just enough!!! I'm going to try their porridge soon - only £1 and it's not an instant one, but proper with milk etc. There is also a loyalty card: your 5th coffee for free! Laura rocks! This is by far the best breakfast/lunch stop I've been to in all of Britain. Her eggs, scones & other baked goods, mixed salads, coffees - all amazing - eggs and creams are just better in this country than in the states from which we hail. Laura's kitchen has been one of our favorite breakfast places in Edinburgh. They're eggs are simple, one of the only places that hasn't drenched their eggs in milk! The porridge has the perfect consistency and the toppings fresh. The waitress was even willing to add apple as a topping even though it wasn't listed as an option. Very few restaurants around here are able or willing to fulfill at the customers request, so it was a pleasant surprise! The service is prompt and the waitress pleasant. A friendly and clean atmosphere, though small, you can feel comfortable here. Decent Americano as well. I would absolutely recommend this place! read more

The cappuccinos were great with enough espresso inside to keep us going until lunchtime. The homemade rolls looked nice, too. You can get them with plenty different fillings. read more

Vegetarian breakfast: scambled eggs that tasted like air, hash browns in the shape of a triangle that looked like the kind you defrost from a freezer package, and beans that looked and tasted right out of a can.
