One of my favorite places to be on the weekend! Live entertainment, good food and good drinks!

I was not aware they offered a brunch till someone invited me out. The view was beautiful and overall the food was good. I would love to go when they have a race or event and watch from those beautiful big windows we sat by.

This was a nice event held indoors out of the heat. Which was much appreciated. Tickets were pre purchased online. Everyone was VIP. They gave you a bracelet. They had mini appetizers that were given. You also received a wine glass. They had a lot of vendors. Wine, liquor, etc. Clothing, jewelry. They had plenty of seating available. They also offered water for hydration and you were given a goodie bag with a nice recipe & mixture of margarita when you left. Overall I'll give it a 3.5 rating.

A very aesthetically pleasing bathroom lol

I love it here! It is a hidden gem that I would like to stay hidden lol I first discovered this place when I was looking for wedding venues and this was my top pick locally but I instead went the destination route. Now occasionally I am always here with my husband and son chilling out watching horse races. We have been coming every season, rain/shine and always have a good time. There are couches aka mini lounges to relax and watch the races. There is a snack bar on the bottom floor and bars throughout the building, we usually bring snacks from the Amish market which is 5 minutes away which is great. They have events here as well that is usually buffet style and my husband one year surprised me with the mothers day event which I really enjoyed. I would love to find a reason to host an event and have it here just to show my guests how nice it is!

Good times. It was a rainy gloomy day but that didn't stop the horses from racing. I was told that Laurel Park did a major renovation a few years ago on the inside, but I haven't been able to get there until now. Wow! Very posh on the inside in some areas. Nice lounge rooms with leather sofas and chairs, coffee tables. More TV's then you can count showing not only the Laurel races, but other national, and some international races. You can watch the horses being shown before the race at the outside paddock, or inside on the TV before you place your bet. There are several restaurants and bars, an inside enclosed observation deck as well out an outside area. There was even a wedding happening there. Apparently the race track is also family friendly, as there were families there and they even had a Christmas breakfast with Santa, and arts and crafts activities for the kids. So I would say, check their schedule before you go. Parking and admission is free, there is valet if you want to go that rout, and the program is $3. I am not a gambler and I will admit that betting on horses can be really confusing. There are so many combinations of bets you can place. The people who take your bets are really nice and patient and will help you, but if there are a lot of people waiting to place a bet, don't hold up the line if the race is about to go off. I set aside $40 for 9 races (total for that day) and was placing $1-$2 bets, trying to get the hang of it. I didn't win more than I spent, but I didn't spend more than I set aside, so all-in-all it was a fun experience and I look forward to going back when the weather is nicer. Good Luck!!!

Laurel Park is my first visit at a race track. I was there for a meet and greet with horse owners. It is a great venue space with friendly staff and a 100+ year old history as a former army training camp. There are many televisions, restaurants overlooking the racetrack, and security/staff to ensure a safe and fun experience.

I enjoyed this great racetrack. There's several betting areas and restaurants as well as concession stands. All were clean and functional. The track was in great shape. The grandstand is completely enclosed and functional. The only complaint is the indoor grandstand doesn't have air conditioning.

My search brought me to Gorman farm, which is very close to my home. I arrived to the farm to find beautiful expensive berries that were pick that day. I hesitated to buy them, but I was excited. I got them home to find fragile berries underneath the top berries. Quite a few berries had to be thrown out. Whether they were moldy or were home to bugs/slugs. I ended up cutting a lot away from the berries, trying to savage them. I am not sure I will give them another try pre-pick is $4/pint, $8/ quart, or self pick sign said $6/lb. Pretty steep!

You're interested enough to read a Web site about food? Go buy from people growing food in Howard County at the newly-rejuvinated farm between Rte 29 and U.S. 1. (UPDATE: My friend went today, and someone at the farm said they're not open for business yet. Definitely call ahead if you're going to drive a long way.) Lydia and Dave Liker have leased the farm on Gorman Road, and they sell produce just in from the field. This is about a mile south of the Harris Teeter in King's Contrivance. Much of the Liker's produce goes out through their "community supported agriculture" program where people paid $550 for weekly boxes of vegetables from June through October. But you can pick up fresh vegetables by stopping at the farm and buying from the Likers -- or from Dave's father, who helped me buy on Saturday. I saw a new sign for the Gorman Produce Farm on my way to the Savage library. The sign doesn't really say that you can buy vegetables there, but I drove down a gravel road to the signs that say "park here" and "produce here." Inside a building were plastic tubs and boxes full of vegetables -- squash, basil, cabbage, green beans, eggplants, chard, and on and on. I broke out my "emergency" $20 bill, and I bought carrots, kohlrabi, squash and lettuce. They're beautiful and delicious. The vegetables are not certified organic, but the Likers say on their Web site that they grow everything according to organic principles. That works for me because I'm skeptical of government "organic" labels -- just like I'm skeptical about the government labels for "local" produce. Why not believe a farm where you can look around yourself? You can meet the farmers most days until about 6 pm. The CSA pick-up is Thursday, and they say people can pick up until 6 pm. Dave Liker said that the gates on Gorman close when they're closed for the day. His father pointed out that it's a working farm, so there are times when people drive up and the Likers are too busy working to make a sale. Gorman's prices seem about what you pay at the Howard County farmers markets. Tomatoes should ripen in a week or so. Corn is on the way. The fields are just going to deliver more and more through the end of the summer.

My friend and I got the instant access pass for an extra $25 and to be honest, it was worth every penny. With it being spooky month, we knew it would be jam packed. The line got general admission was ridiculous. The line to express access was better but still pretty long. Instant access allows you to skip the line and go straight to the entrance of the haunted house. The music was too loud to hear the instructions but I guess the gist is, don't run and don't touch the actors. I loved the design and themes of most rooms. Some left a little to be desired. I do wish there were a little more actors and better system of separating the parties. There were quite a few times we were able to see ahead so we knew what was coming. My favorite times were any moment where the actors interacted with the guests, like when we were chased. After the haunted house, you're able to buy merch and take photos. Although we didn't do the escape room, I liked that there was an option to do so this adding to the whole Halloween experience. All in all, I enjoyed my time at the House of Horror. While there could be some improvements with setup, I would still recommend it for others wanting to check out a local haunted house.
