Truly the worst place I have ever lived…read more Management is absolutely awful. Numerous noise complaints and frequent smoking odors were ignored. Cindy Cook, property manager, dismissed us by saying "that's just how the building is" and stated that the only thing that would make us happy is if she ended our lease and she let us move out. When we chose to do so and asked for the lease termination in writing, she recanted her statement and planned to charge us for a lease buyout. A simple phone call to Cindy asking if the rooftop was closed since the stairwell door was locked was met with her response of "no, why would it be?". She is rude, incompetent, and should not be in any type of managerial role. Maintenance and the cleaning crew unlocked our door and attempted to enter our unit unannounced on two separate occasions because management had informed them our unit was unoccupied while we still very much lived there. Don't be fooled by their promises of "beautiful downtown views". Heritage Landing refuses to have the exterior windows cleaned and you can't see anything out of the filthy windows. The parking garage, which will cost you $175 a month, is dark and dingy with overhead pipes that leak and leave rust stains on vehicles. The building is outdated and the elevators are frequently out of service. Despite blasting the AC all summer and racking up very high electric bills, our apartment never cooled, even with the blinds closed all day, and we were consistently sweating at night. When paying thousands of dollars in rent a month, residents should at least live comfortably. So incredibly disappointed and dissatisfied. Steer clear of Heritage Landing at all costs.

We paid rent on time, didn't cause problems (except for one noise complaint), and kept to ourselves. I also am not the type to leave bad reviews or argue with people. Before we start, I want to say I would not recommend living here. When we moved into the apartment, we noticed the unit was unfinished and submitted a maintenance request on paper which was never fixed. Throughout living there, we were also treated poorly by almost all of the staff there. The front desk employees clearly pick favorites and oh my goodness the attitude from them is unbearable. I personally thought the demographic of the apartment was mostly much older people and that's what they seem to like there. I was surprised to be mistaken for a FedEx driver when asking a question at the front desk. This is just one incidence out of many. Once again I was a market rate resident... not affordable housing. Moving on. Theoretically, let's say you were to accidentally leave something in your apartment when moving out and you really needed it back. You might be gaslighted into thinking you never left anything there and then not being compensated for the lost item. They might even give you something that wasn't even yours and tell you they found it in your apartment. Shady stuff. I wouldn't expect to get much of your security deposit back unless you barely live in your home because I was charged for "stove damage" from COOKING. On the STOVE. I was also charged quite a bit for adhesive residue on the wall. If you're planning on decorating, this is not the best spot. I could go on, but let's talk about the actual apartment. These are all personal opinions, not facts (for legal reasons). Decent location but it can get pretty loud from all the traffic. The windows don't keep out noise very well. The amenities are just quite boring and are often used by older people to play cards or chit chat.. It honestly felt like a retirement home. Be prepared to get awkward stares if you're not over the age of 30. There are only 2 EV chargers for the entire building. This is an older building so expect older quality, older people, and older technology. All in all, I would say DO NOT live here. There are so many better options that actually feel like modern luxury and probably are offering specials too. If you're 40+ years old it might be a decent spot to live, but if you're like me, you'll hate it here. It did not feel worth the price AT ALL and the community is awful.

Prejudice + Power = Racism…read more I needed office space so I rented a place at One Southdale. There was a guffaw of problems, primarily with management and staff, never directly with residence. This place is like an old folks home, filled with older, primarily white folks, who can't help but give minorities eyebrow screws, and ask questions like, "can I help you, as I don't recognize you" statements. I rarely used the amenities due to the unwanted stares and questions and challenges to prove my residency. When I moved in, my movers (2 black guys), were deliberately locked outside. When I inquired how were they expected to move my furniture, the concierge told me, " I don't know, but it's really cold when they open the door". Constant odors of trash or marijuana. Constant harassment from folks gaining access to the building to knock for sales calls, random snooping by your door, or other supposed business... when I thought this building was supposed to be secure . Constant theft of bicycles, car break ins, NO SECURITY. Concierge will not allow you access to the building, especially if you are black. On the other hand, my housekeeper, a Mexican lady, could get access to my apartment (yes give her a key even) with 0 authorization from me. No Security - no security officer or security officer presence. This is a minimal requirement for a community that touts luxury accommodations... they have none. When I moved out, and old guy in a Porsche approached my movers and asked, "are y'all moving in or out"? To which I responded, "sir, why do you care?" He said, "Because I own all of this", I asked still, "...ok, why do you care!?" Price gouging is a regular aspect of this place, when I moved out, I had to hire lawyers to ensure they wouldn't over charge for fees and attempt other tactics. These people are evil, and this place is far from luxury.

They were prompt and responsive, and their online portal made the entire leasing process smooth and easy. West Lake Quarter has a great selection of amenities and is surrounded by many walkable attractions. The location right next to the greenway is perfect for walking, running, or biking. I often make use of the community bikes available to rent - it's a fun way to explore with my girlfriend. This is a very pet-friendly complex, so I'm looking forward to having dogs here in the future. Maintenance requests are simple to submit online and the team is very quick to resolve any problems. After finishing a recent repair in my unit, the maintenance staff even left a nice handwritten note, which I appreciated. I'm thrilled to be living here and plan to stay for a while. The property managers, deserves credit for being so helpful, efficient, and friendly. This has been an awesome apartment community so far!

The turn around of things is pretty good. I hate that they enter into my home without leaving a note saying they have been there. That happened more than I can count. However if you do what you are supposed to do they stay out your business you stay out of theirs.

The maintenance is fast. When I had a water heater break, they fixed it immediately - even though it was a Friday night. Rent is reasonable. The pool is clean and there is plenty of parking - most of which is street (though it feels like a lot because they are cul-de-sacs), so it is free. The only time you pay for parking is if you rent a garage. They don't take dogs, but are good with cats. There is plenty of closet space and a spacious in-unit laundry room. They have dishwashers too, and keep appliances updated. I also like the location - it's easy to get on Hwy 62 and 35-W. Just blocks from a 24 hour Cub Foods and next to a good bar/restaurant - Tailgate. If you're looking for a nice, reasonably priced, town home in South Minneapolis - I recommend Windom Gables.
