Lauries House Restaurant offered good food at a very reasonable price. The landlubbers and Seafood sections of the menu include soup, salad bar, soft drinks, desert, and coffee for around $20-$22.
The decor was simple, yet nice. Some tables have views of the harbour. (Yes, in Canada, they spell it harbour.) The staff was attentitive, and friendly.
The soup was a home made chicken, with large chunks of chicken, fresh vegetables, and a broth that was properly seasoned.
The salad bar was very simple, but the ingredients were very fresh.
I ordered the scallop dinner. The scallops were fresh, and sauteed in a delicious garlic and herb sauce. The portion was small, (my only complaint about the restaurant,) but with everything else, I left full. Again, the accompaning vegetables were fresh.
My wife ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Her portions were large, and the chicken was cooked to perfection.
Deserts consisted of several pastry choices, which, while simple, were also tasty. The coffee was fresh, and finished off the meal perfectly. read more
