And she had a soy latte with double shot which was the perfect strength, yet smooth, and they'd heated the soy perfectly, which she mentioned not many places do well. Many of the seats are at a counter, which is nice for being able to people-watch but the seat itself is uncomfortable - tiny, hard stools with no backs. Our coffee order was taken immediately but it was tough to flag someone down to place a food order. I saw 2 people walk out as they asked twice to place an order and the staff said "one moment" and then never returned. We ordered a second coffee which never came. Once you do manage to order, the coffee is absolutely excellent. Not a hint of bitterness and a lovely rich flavour. The menu is also great, with lots of unconventional offerings alongside the standard brekkie choices. This was the best okonomiyaki I've had outside of Japan (and I love that there is a veg version), and it was large enough for 2 of us to share.

We dropped by at the change of shift between breakfast and lunch customers: quiet for a Saturday but I'm wildly happy to have a cafe within walking range where the odds of getting a table are good. Places like this are increasingly rare in Brunswick; worth their weight in gold. The staff were super friendly, the service was warm and efficient. I'm disappointed to see that some of Brunswick's Yummy Mummy Brigade have posted very negative reviews elsewhere on the web - looks to me like the cafe owners have acted on behalf of their patrons so that the space can be fairly shared by all. All the more reason for me to give these people my custom! Food wise, if it's huge portions you're craving then your hunger will be satisfied here. From giant slabs of toast to overloaded bagels and burgers, they don't skimp. Unfortunately they are also pretty heavy handed on the salad dressing, and they put a side salad alongside every dish whether you order it or not (even simple toast orders).
