Their sales rep David and Josh came out. Super polite, professional and knowledgable. Their recommendation would solve our issue. We signed up and scheduled. On the scheduled day and time Job foreman, Zachary and uniformed crew arrived in a Groundworks truck, reviewed the job specs and got started. The job took one week as planned. Zach, Michael, Kai and Paul were all great! All very polite, and made every effort to make the job at my house the very best. They succeeded. Plenty of photos and videos documenting the work. Everything very straightforward and transparent. So glad we chose Groundworks to do this job for us. They're the Best!

I would not recommend Groundworks for foundation drainage work. I hired Groundworks in the bay…read morearea, California. When I agreed to finance this 15k job, I was told the drainage from the crawl space sump pump would and could be connected to the main, but when the crew arrived they were not sure where the drain exit should go and said the city of Santa Cruz doesn't allow them to connect and they could not get a permit. Why was I not told this prior to scheduling the work? I made the mistake of trying to figure out the discharge area with the workers who showed up. They asked me where I want the discharge pipes, but I am not qualified to make that decision. That is why I hired them. The workers were nice and tried to be helpful and this is not a complaint about them. I called the representative who originally came out, inspected, and estimated the job, which included connection to main, and that is when he told me that he could not get permits from Santa Cruz county. This is when I should have cancelled the job. The completed job by Groundworks has discharge pvc lines on the side of the house and terminating at the front right corner of the house and I have to figure out how and where to drain all of the water! I thought that was the point of hiring an expert drainage company. After work was completed and after first rain of season, I get flooding in my garage on two separate occasions. I spend the day clearing everything out and drying the garage out. I call and a technician comes out to inspect a day later and tells me that the sump pump under the master bedroom was installed backwards and wasn't working. Groundworks installed two new pumps as part of the drainage plan. Mistakes can be made, sure, but I would think for such a pricey job they would have it inspected prior to signing it off. Now that the second pump is up and running, it is so loud that it is difficult to sleep at night, but at least my garage isn't flooding. The noise disturbance now is unsustainable. Now, after groundworks installed this drainage system, if that second sump pump is not on, the garage will flood. Prior, I had one old sump pump under the kitchen and never had this flooding issue. I don't know why, but now my garage floods. Follow up was horrible. The supervisor Wyatt never got back to me when he said he would about the concerns I had and how to resolve them. Initially, Wyatt asked how they could make me feel better. I asked for a discount because at the time I thought the flooding was resolved, but I was put off for over a month and in that time realized it is not exactly clear why the garage floods. My concern is the flooding issue and not the discount, but no follow up to discuss. The General Manager did not call me or reach out as Wyatt said he would refer me to the GM. I had to make contact many times for any reply. At this point I am told by Wyatt that the GM wants receipts of the damage to my garage. I don't have receipts for me clearing out my garage to the driveway and drying out the garage. I called you all when it happened and you sent a technician the following day who told me it was i stalled backwards. A month later after waiting with no return call, I had to call again and was told they came out and fixed it already and would I like it to be inspected again. At this point, by whom? Can I trust this company to tell me what is actually going on? They don't even call me back. Why is the garage flooding now if it doesn't have two sump pumps running when it only had one prior? This treatment feels horrible. I am not out looking for something for free and a discount. I am looking to protect my home from water damage and that is not happening This was a 15k job and I now have to hire another company that can actually tell me why my garage floods. This is not ok. After I seek assessment elsewhere and get a good idea of what is actually going on with the drainage system that was installed, I will be following up with Groundworks. This is a company that stands behind putting out this quality of work and charging for it. 100% disappointed. This situation was improperly handled in many ways. Communication nonexistent.

He took leveling measurements in my living room and also did a crawl space inspection. He is professional, friendly and honest. I think what really stood out for me is did not try and sell me on their services. He explained that my house being an older home the settling was within an acceptable range and told me what to look for like cracks in the wall, gaps in the baseboards etc, and to call them if I see anything new. i really appreciate Adam's advice and I will definitely use Sunshine Foundation for any foundation issues I have.

Some contractors only walked around the exterior of my home, while others took a quick look underneath. Jon, the field representative from Sunshine Foundation Repairs was different from the moment he arrived. He was on time, friendly, professional, and immediately went into the crawl space to perform a thorough inspection. I was impressed that I received a detailed proposal the very same day. The biggest reason I chose Sunshine Builders was the quality of Jon's inspection. He was the only contractor who identified sagging floor joists in my living room, which likely explained the squeaking floors I had been hearing. He documented the issue with photos and recommended the appropriate repairs, giving me confidence that he was looking out for the long-term integrity of my home--not just trying to sell a standard retrofit. Throughout the entire process, Jon kept me informed every step of the way, from permitting and plan check to scheduling the installation. Communication was excellent, and I always knew what to expect. On inspection day, everything went smoothly. The contractor arrived prepared with all the required paperwork, met with the City inspector, and ensured the inspection was completed without any issues. Jon made an outstanding first impression and represented Sunshine Foundation Repairs exceptionally well. His thorough inspection, attention to detail, clear communication, and guidance throughout the entire process are the reasons why I chose Sunshine Foundation Repairs I would highly recommend them. The proposal bid was right where my budget was.

I don't need show, but the work should be good functional quality. Above all, I hate salesmen who try to sell things, without basing on clear facts. I am an engineer and I like to thoroughly research, even though I am not in construction trades. I got 4 quotes before proceeding with Adam. He stood out from day 1, making it clear what he was recommending and why. He didn't try to oversell, and he gave clear evidence backed rationale for everything. He was honest. He encouraged me to get other quotes so I do my due diligence. I checked and double checked what the other foundation contractors told me, and it became clear towards the end that Adam's advice had been fact based. Some of the other contractor's advice conflicted... do an underpin, don't do an underpin. An underpin can harm your foundation by adding stress as you don't have rebar, etc. At the end, having satisfied myself I went with Adam. His prices were not the lowest nor the highest, but fair. Stand up guy. Highly recommend. Good company, the crew whi worked on my home were all Sunshine employees, not random temps. Looking forward to not worrying about my foundation again.

I had tried going to Home Depot to look for a clay or terra cotta tile to replace ONE tile my husband and I broke trimming trees. They only had shingles there. I went to Structural Materials Inc hoping to find that ONE tile I needed. When I walked into their office I explained to the very nice lady my situation. She asked if I had a sample and I said no just pictures. She took me to their "boneyard" and told me I was free to look through there and if I found what I needed I could just have it. Yay!! Luckily I did find the ONE I needed. I easily replaced it today and now my roof is protected from the dreaded El Niño!! Just a hint the driveway to get to them is not directly on Waterman. It is off the side street next to them.

Unfortunately through no fault of there own, the roofing delivery scheduled time for my job site was delayed by half a day and I had to let the labor go home early. Kim was very understanding and suggested that she wave the delivery fee. Seeing that the material was not delivered at the promised time. Even though it was a small job. Kim treated it as important as any large industrial or commercial operation. It is this kind of customer appreciation which makes businesses like Structural Materials a place to do business with. Thank you once again for your understanding, concern and best wishes with your ever growing business.
