One of the best and only late options for self service laundry in Lugano…read more You put your clothes in the washer, select the cycle on the washer or dryer itself. NO SOAP IS NEEDED. Then walk over to the touch screen machine and press the number of the washer or dryer you want to use and press "CONFIRM" The touch screen will say "Press start on the washer" but this is a lie. The washer or dryer will start on it's own. The only down side is the price. 8CHF for one load of laundry in the smaller 8KG Machine. 10CHF if you're paying cash. But then again this is Switzerland. The taxi ride here from the hotel alone cost 18CHF for a mere 2 Kilometers?!? But for those traveling like myself I suppose it is still way cheaper than doing your laundry at your hotel. Nice clean place. Has vending machines with snacks and drinks. Open til '10pm every night according to the sign on the door. No attendant on duty. BRING PLENTY OF SMALL COINS. The machine does not take 5CHF coins. It does however take notes and credit cards. WARNING: If using notes, the maximum amount of change the machine will give back to you is 16CHF. I would not use any note larger than a 10CHF or maybe a 20CHF note. If you have kids hopefully like my own mom you won't make them sit at the laundry completely bored while you wash clothes. Ha. But just in case you need to bring your kids here, you are in luck! There is a cool little kids table and chairs and two baskets full of toys for the niños. Enjoy.

Make sure you take plenty of coins, there is a change machine but it couldn't read any notes when I tried it. Another customer said there was sometimes an attendant there to help, but not all the time. Machines range from €4-8, powder is extra. Wash cycles are 35 mins, €4 more gets you 25 minutes of drying time. There's a couple of coffee shops & bars close by if you go during normal trading times, but like many Italian centres it becomes a bit of a ghost town out of hours.

The soap is now self-contained and dosed by the machines. There are 5 washers and 4 dryers. There are also 2 "pet" washers to do your pet blankets. Sig Ernesto was extremely helpful in getting me set up. Machines accept credit cards. Ample chairs to sit and wait. Cost for a king-size duvet was €8. Dry for €3. Great deal.
