The format is simple - several guests form a roundtable-style discussion on a topic that is debated for an hour. Much like the rest of the station, there is a liberal slant, but it's minor and not crass whatsoever. Terri Gross (Fresh Air) in the evenings is fun, even when the subject having a discussion with her isn't of interest to me. She was a soft dialect and is a natural interview. Wait, Wait - Don't Tell Me is on Saturday and replayed on Sunday. Please don't miss it! Some programs are so-so to me, such as Market Place, but variety is necessary. If you live in Minneapolis-St Paul and somehow haven't given MPR a chance, DO IT! Final note: while my politics are left of center, I would enjoy the addition of a conservative program to the mix. It seems hard to find a good "Right" talker who isn't bombastic or rude, but there has to be someone out there.

I don't pretend to understand all aspects of life outside my orbit.. All of that aside, I have punched 89.9 into many a car radio (back in the day I used actual buttons but more recently have used GUI). Yes, it is a proud and self proclaimed advocate for Communities of Color. But anyone within range can listen:-) Home to R&B, Soul, HipHop, Rap (I think that RAP music comes out of HipHop culture but I'm not sure), Gospel, Reggae and others. I find that it offers a little something for most everyone. The signal has grown significantly over the years and now reaches most if not all of the metropolitan area from its broadcast tower. Another listener supported effort, I feel that you might want to give it some positive attention. I think that if one enjoys KMOJ for a while, you may want to contribute to its continued success.

Until recently my late wife and I held season tickets (since their inception) to the JAZZMN orchestra (big band). KBEM has been a regular sponsor of events including this stellar assortment of very talented musicians. As you will already know if you are even a casual listener, KBEM is a 24hr service of the Mpls public school system. It is also home to MN-DOT traffic reports during the morning and afternoon commute. I have heard some incredibly gifted students and adult hosts. If you're into jazz or root music then I find KBEM can be relied upon to spin great music. IMHO the station is worthy of support. Virginia and a lot from Bayfield, WI. As for the jazz, all week long, and in typical jazz style this station offers restaurant tours. Some I like is around rush hour. This station is very civic and community minded. That's why it's worth checking out. Also, for those who love to donate.
