So there I was, living/working/breathing Geelong. That's when I discovered 123 Antiques. When I finally got that fated call from the real estate agent, I immediately went here in an effort to stock my cool new house with cool, old furniture. 123 has incredible vintage furniture from the 60s, 70s right up until the 00s - think bright green vinyl sofas, sturdy metal trunks and a HEAP of wooden bar carts that will make you want to host a Mad Men-style party every weekend. But it's not just furniture, you'll also find jewellery, prints and artwork (I've got my eye on a couple of J.H. Lynch prints, keep your paws off 'em) and simply gorgeous glassware. Despite having a completely stocked house, I find myself venturing to 123 Antiques anytime I am in the area, just to see what's new.

It's in a great location just opposite the baths and it has something for everyone - that perfect mix of stalls covering hand crafted items, vintage and retro, trash/treasure, food (taco and other food trucks) and coffee. Apparently I was there on a not particularly busy day with less stalls then usual and a smaller crowd given the many events that were running that day, but there was still enough there to entertain me for a couple of hours and decrease the weight of my wallet! Take a carry bag as not all the stall holders have bags and take smaller notes and change to make paying up your bargains easier (most clothing items raged from $1 to $10).

There are a lot of vendors selling jewelry and clothing. I bought a very cute bracelet with custom charms and amethyst stones. I also got to try on some kimonos. Kimono stylist Sala Okabe will personally fit one for you. Just bring a smile and a camera. If you want to purchase, a kimono is only $20 -- cheaper than what I paid when I ordered mine online.

There's vintage and secondhand clothing, books, hand-made accessories and jewellery, assorted vintage wares, the occasional tarot card reading and the bar is open with various drink specials (I believe it's $8 Bloody Mary's for the time being). On the first and third Saturday of each month, except for the silly season, where there are extra dates. It's best to check the Facebook page for the full list. Pets are more than welcome too, which is great for those taking their pooches for a Saturday stroll down Brunswick Street!

There's a mixture of vintage clothing, handmade jewelry and books. Each time I've visited, the book stall towards the back has been the highlight, as there are some unusual titles (I found a biography of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's dog written by Virginia Woolf that I didn't even know existed, and I thought I was a Virginia Woolf aficionado). I've also seen some interesting jewelry, though nothing that isn't available at other markets. Most of the stall holders are very friendly and happy to have a chat. The Love, Evelyn Market is worth visiting if you're in Fitzroy on a Saturday arvo.
