My son Theo went to 2 different sessions, and loved both. He wants to get there on time to do all of the activities. He wants to stay afterwards to hang out with the other kids. EDITED REVIEW: My 7 year old is attended Lavner NYU this summer (2025). My son was in the robotics camp and was injured. Another child dropped their metal robot on his head. My main concern was that there only one instructor who was a recent college CS grad with the kids. There should have been another person monitoring the class especially with classroom teaching experience (classroom management). I complained and their main office responded after one week. They promised to post two adults to the class, one of which would have classroom management experience so we hope this will change going forward and the camp will be safer. It's great that they have a subject matter expert but that expert should be paired with real teacher. I think Lavner is a good STEM camp for older kids but younger kids may need more supervision. This camp is similar to the other for-profit NYC camps for young kids and we have attended a ton of them (i.e. - NORY, iCAMP, etc.). These camps often hire teachers to double as class stand-ins and admins so this could have happened in a similar camp with similar safety standards depending on who is "managing" the class to prevent accidents from happening (i.e. - teachers who have eyes in the back of their heads type management) especially for a larger class of mostly boys in the 7-8 year old range. If Lavner does this, they would definitely be ahead of other for-profit camp competitors. read more

We chose Lavner with the expectation that it would help our son build new skills and inspire a deeper love of technology. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of that promise. I was disappointed to learn that children were allowed to bring personal devices to camp. When I raised this concern with a camp director, I was told this was a Lavner policy based on parent demand for direct communication. However, many schools and camps have successfully implemented no-phone policies -- it's unclear why Lavner cannot do the same. This decision caused unnecessary conflict within our family and undermined the camp's focus. It was also troubling to hear from our son that counselor-led programming did not extend through the entire camp day. He described the last hour as free time where kids were allowed to use their personal iPhones and iPads. For one of the most expensive camps we enrolled in this summer, the idea that he ended his day sitting on his iPad is simply unacceptable. read more

Terrible. Would not recommend. Took a course where in the instructor was not trained in the subject matter. That's correct. It was a fashion course and the instructor had never worked in the fashion business; she was an "art" major. Then , it five day course and the last day the instructor -- who told us in advance, she wouldn't be there. So there was a sub who knew less. 900 dollars down the drain. Someone called me after I wrote a similar review. I asked for a partial reimbursement. Said she'd speak to her superior. Never heard back. Terrible company. Much better programs. read more

My son has enrolled in many camps over the last few years, and this one clearly stood out. The staff were all phenomenal, location beautiful, and subject matter engaging. I'm also really grateful that the camp didn't involve a whole day of screen time. Instead, the students had recess, social time (such as a talent show), and then a final "showcase" of their work on the last day of camp. I'll for sure sign up my son again for future camps. My child has done this camp 2 years in a row for the Lego Robotics program and has loved it each time. Each day they are excited about what they've built and can't wait to go back the next day. Our 12 year old did culinary arts. Yes, he cooked a few things, but overall it was underwhelming. He prepared one simple dish a day but most of the six hours was spent doing non-cooking things. My kids spent a few weeks at the Tech Camp at Fairfield University by Lavner education this summer. They really enjoyed it. We are very impressed by the extremely friendly instructors, interesting classes and very responsive and helpful customer service team. Special thanks to the director Alison. My 8-yr old son asked immediately when camp was over if he could return the following year, and do the robotics camp this time. He had a wonderful experience with Lavner's program. The activities and "stuff" he did were excellent but he enjoyed the interactions and relationship building with staff and other kids even more. That is as much a strength of the programming as the activities themselves. I highly recommend this program. read more

We paid nearly $1,000 for what was advertised as an educational tech camp (STEM and Medicine) at SFSU through Lavner Education. Unfortunately, it was nothing close. The Kids watched YouTube and played Roblox instead of learning. My 11-year-old described the camp as "a waste of time." The program structure as advertised online was not followed at all. It is also advertised as an "educational camp" at a well known college campus in the bay area. We completed the survey and got a call saying a resolution was coming, but then Lavner refused a refund. The site manager was clearly not involved in looking after the children. I am requesting a formal review into their deceptive business practices. This absolutely felt like a deceptive money grab, not a real educational experience. Avoid this camp. read more

My grandson was hesitant about attending but he loved it. HIs group was small and he made friends the first day. He is a little shy at first. He said he learned some "good things" about his favorite game Roblox that will make him a better player. He wants to go back next summer. read more

I had two kids enrolled in summer camp in Orange County. My kids refer to this camp as the "Panera camp." For them, lunch was the most interesting part of the day when they could play with the other kids. As a parent, this camp was ridiculously expensive for what it offered. There was very little instruction and the kids spent most of the day working on their own on laptops. The lunch that was offered were just side orders from Panera that was not nearly enough food for my 8 and 13 year olds and no protein. Total waste of money. read more

Both our kids (11 and 8) loved their daycamps focused on Graphic Design and Minecraft. We got access to a subsidized rate through my work's back-up care benefit, and was interested to try a new camp for our children. Both of them loved their camps, and also made friends with other campers and said that their college-aged counsellors were really nice. It was also special for them to be on a college campus and feel like a big kid by eating in the dining hall. read more

I wanted this to be great but they oversold the Youtube camp and delivered nothing. The kids are supposed to have 30s intro and showcase videos of their "channel" etc that they built in class - on a USB. End of camp - no USB. Contact camp they claim they sent them home on a lanyard but "sometimes the kids take them off." Why give a USB to 1st graders? When they claim they found it, the USB was blank. 4 weeks later they "download" the files again and there's no audio and no intro video. We spent thousands to send our child to play at camp, NOT learn how to Youtube. read more

This is my child's third year attending these camps and he loves them every single time. The ratio is perfect for socializing and developing friendships while also allowing children to focus of the educational skills of the camp. What a waste of money! My kids were SO excited about a STEM camp. All they did was color all day and a little Legos at the end of the day. The drawings they got from the teachers computer, not even handouts. No learning whatsoever. Best part of this ridiculous overpriced boredom is that the teacher just left my kids and another child alone for the whole lunch period while he went to take his lunch break!! He Left 6 year olds alone and never told them what he was doing or who to talk to if there was an emergency. So what if my kids were wandering kids?? I'm So disgusted!! Oh and then the pickup was a total mess! One person running it and told my children the wrong car, wrong direction, after she saw I was 1st in line, sent them to the 15th in line and had them weave in and out of cars. SEVERE SAFETY ISSUES!! And guess what do you think the director called me back? NOPE! Save your money Don't go to this place. RUN the other way- they definitely won't learn anything. read more

It's only Monday or week 1, and most of my son's day was spent playing Minecraft, not learning much of anything. Add to that the NIGHTMARE of check in and checkout at CMU in Pittsburgh. No parking, long lines, and very slow process. They could streamline it so easily if they just walked the kids outside. I'm kicking myself for signing him up for three weeks. Very overpriced and a logistical disaster. For a "tech" camp, Lavner is a very low tech operation. So disappointing. Not recommended. If there's a Code Ninja near you, check them out. Sadly, our expectations were not met. This was an expensive summer camp (Coding, YouTube writing), both of my kids (9 and 8 yrs old) were bored and with no activity for long periods of time, they would stare at the window waiting to see what was coming next. They basically didn't learn much. At the time of drop off and pick up the staff was extremely disorganized and not aware of the safe procedures. Several days of the week they did not ask for an ID, I even had to ask them if they were going to ask me for my ID to pick up my kids.
