I was driving with a suspended licences and registration because I forgot to pay for SR22. Got pulled over, showed up in court with my Insurance sr22 but the prosecutor wanted me to plead guilty, pay a heigh fined for about $400, go on probation for a year and take a 4 months class. Brian is the first lawyer I've ever interacted with. My parents were urging me to be cautious about lawyers; they're slimy and they will take advantage of you. But throughout the time that I was working with Brian, I never felt taken advantage of. I treated him with friendliness and respect, and he treated me the exact same way. Brian is amazing, and I would definitely highly recommend him. I was involved in a six-car accident; we all slammed on our breaks, and the car behind me slammed into me, which then caused a chain reaction. Unfortunately I was the only individual who received a citation, which I immediately knew I would contest. To make a long story short, I found Brian through Yelp, called him up the day after the accident, and told him my story. Not only did he pick up on the first ring, but he also took the time to talk to me about what happened and what he could do to help me. I got to court 30 minutes late, and was terrified that my case would be lost due to my tardiness. However, by a single stroke of luck, the court was running late, and my case hadn't been tried yet. When my name was called, Brian and I walked up to the judge, and less than two minutes later the case was dismissed. It couldn't have been any easier (aside from the traffic, that is), and the outcome was everything I had hoped for. I got a speeding ticket in March for speeding 70mph in a 40mph.. on lake shore drive not knowing the speed limit is only 40mph, really!! On a road that look like a highway should be at least 60-65mph.... Just spoke to Mr. Small. Had a couple tickets, a red light (camera) and a restricted parking ticket. Neither were given by officers. I don't know much about this and thought maybe I would call to see if there is anything I should/could do. Brian picked up himself and was totally honest about what I should do. Lets face it the system is set up against regular people that want to honestly plead their case in court. If you show up without an attorney, well then good luck, because your probably going to lose. I contacted Brain and he was very honest and upfront about my speeding ticket in a construction zone situation. He does specialize in cases involving alcohol, but he does handle other cases as well. My situation did NOT involve drinking and driving. After talking to him I felt much better and at ease. He gave me step by step instructions and followed through with his part perfectly. This review is merely regarding the phone "consultation" I had with this attorney. Called and inquired about my options for an aggravated speeding ticket I got, explained my relatively clean driving record, and asked about cost for this lawyer to represent me in court ($300!). I was already apprehensive about contacting a lawyer for a traffic ticket, as I've already had great success in the past defending myself, but this guy boasted about how he could get my ticket likely reduced to a petty speeding ticket, which would of course offer more favorable consequences. However, $300 just seemed like a ripoff, especially when the other yelp reviews I read prior to calling had quoted fees of ~$100-200; so I followed my instinct and represented myself in court. I'm going to give myself a big pat on the back for not "taking the bait". Here's how smoothly things in the Daley center traffic court went: checked in around 9:02a, name got called around 9:09a, State's Atty opened by offering to reduce my citation from a misdemeanor to a petty speeding ticket w/ ZERO ($0) fine, 4 months of supervision, with only court costs to pay. Judge: "will you accept this offer?" Me: "Well of course, your honor! Where do I pay??" She pointed me to the cashier and after paying $214 in court costs, I had my license back and was on my way. All this happened in a matter minutes. Moral of the story, you don't need a lawyer for every visit to traffic court. Here's some real legal advice you can work with if you're facing a similar dilemma: keep your money and represent yourself in court. If you have a clean/limited citation history, you will be just fine. The courts are generally favorable to most citizens; just show respect to the court and dress the part. Don't believe me? Just visit the traffic court on any day prior to your trial (it's open to the public), and you can observe for yourself. read more

I had my license taken for running a stop sign. Which is silly in the first place. First, because I didn't run the stop sign and second, REALLY CHICAGO? Nothing better to do?
