Within days of submitting my application they connected me with several companies with whom I got interviews. Before each interview, they sent me a very thorough prep-sheet. They spent a lot of time on the phone with me getting to know my preferences and career goals. They made contact with me before and after every interview to provide guidance and process the experience. I know they are super busy, but it felt like I was their only client. I recently relocated to Chicago in November 2018 without a job in the city. I do theatre work but also needed a more sustainable job to help me pay rent. I interviewed with Chicago Hire three days after moving to Chicago, and the day after my interview I started doing temp receptionist work at a company, which turned into a long term assignment. My recruiter from Chicago Hire was Kaleigh H. and she was super helpful. She assisted me when I went out of town for a trip, she helped when I had to take a sick day, and even helped me negotiate pay while I was on the long term assignment with the company. She was always available for any questions I had and would check in with me periodically to see how things were going - but not TOO often, so I didn't feel micromanaged. I could tell that Chicago Hire finds good employees to put on assignments because I met another temp that works for Chicago Hire, Margurite, who was very friendly and capable. I also love that Chicago Hire pays you WEEKLY, and allows you to have a very flexible schedule. Unfortunately, I had to leave Chicago Hire because the company I was on the long term assignment with offered me a full-time permanent position with benefits - a job offer I would have never received if it weren't for Chicago Hire. I recommend Chicago Hire to all of my friends looking for temp work, and especially anybody that's new to Chicago and looking for work. read more

Many tend to correspond with for a week or so and then disappear. Or they lose interest if you turn down a job prospect due to it not being the right fit for you. Hilary said she was passing me along to a Senior Recruiter who I would hear from soon. Nothing. Crickets. Waited 2 weeks in case they were slammed with jobs and job seekers. I emailed them again to recap the situation. Still nothing. Perhaps I am too "experienced". I feel bad about this one because I sent the seriously best cover letter ever to these people and my availability and openness to practically any kind of job is truly off-the-charts. I hope Lisa Chew is still with this company, because this is a kudos to her. Lisa placed me at 2 different companies over the 20 years of my legal assistance career. The first time she helped me, she was with a different company at the time. She got me my first higher-paying legal secretary position in Chicago. The second time she helped me was with the Chicago Hire Company about 8 years ago. Both times she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, confident, prepared and like she genuinely cared. She was on the ball! She always responded to questions, calls, voicemails, emails, etc. She knew exactly what I needed and was eager to find the right placement for me. Both times she helped me find a job it was an easy, seamless experience. I never felt confused about what was going on, or when I'd hear from her, because she explained everything very well. I was unemployed for 6 months earlier this year and was using several of these temp./placement agencies. After a few months of the other agencies sending me on wild goose chases and not really coming up with anything that was solid, a friend of mine suggested Jessica at the Chicago Hire Company. I was lucky enough to be in a position to take my time with my job search and wait for the right opportunity to come along. The other agencies all wanted to stick me with the first job that came along and were growing frustrated with me for turning down some offers because they weren't good enough. When I met with Jessica I voiced my frustrations, both with the other agencies and the companies I had interviews with, and explained what I was looking for. Jessica gave me some tough-talk regarding my resume and offered suggestions on how to make it more applicable for the positions I was looking for. I'm not going to lie, it stung a little because I was already dealing with the mental strain of the constant rejection. Initially I wasn't happy with this at all, but you know what? She was right. And after I thought about it a bit, I appreciated that she was giving it to me straight as opposed to the others who were only praising me to get me on board so that they could meet their quotas and start sending me to interviews that weren't even close to what I wanted. While I have yet to change my mind about the overall state of the staffing industry in Chicago, I will say that The Chicago Hire Company is one of the better agencies out there. They are staffed with friendly, helpful recruiters who are excellent with communication. I was very impressed with their prompt responses to inquiries or when you check in for work. Unfortunately, I cannot give TCHC four or five stars because they have yet to give me a short or long-term assignment. Understandably, they don't always have the type of jobs or assignments I was looking for and many of their openings required industry-specific knowledge or experience. It was just rather disappointing that I had checked in with my recruiter for 3-4 months, only to not have any opportunities come my way. I will give them props for being transparent and open with me about the current hiring climate in their office, though. Still. I would recommend this agency for job seekers, especially those who might have the background/experience more aligned with what their clients are looking for (i.e. lots of administrative positions in finance and legal fields). They are easily one of the more professional, friendly and honest agencies in Chicago. read more

This review is a year and a half too late, but here goes: CHC was a Godsend for me. Having moved to Chicago straight out of college with no contacts and very little money, I had perhaps an overoptimistic view of the state of the job market. Spending 2 months hunting for full-time work with no success, I searched Yelp for staffing agencies and CHC popped up along with a half-dozen other highly-rated agencies. I applied to 3 and interviewed with all 3. After "signing on" to all 3 agencies, ONLY CHC gave me consistent, prompt work. After signing on the dotted line, I had maybe 72 hours before my first assignment came up. Being money-hungry and willing to work short-term assignments for an indefinite time period was helpful in this quick turnaround, I imagine, but nonetheless I was ecstatic to be back in the swing of things. "Short-term" assignments lasted anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, but Abby and Brittany did an astounding job of filling in any gaps so that I was working 4 or 5 days a week consistently. Their communication on the who, what, where, and when was prompt and they were always more accommodating than I would EVER expect a staffing agency to be. Most of the short-term work was with companies in or around the loop - I was only ever sent "outside" of downtown once, on an assignment in Uptown. I never felt uncomfortable or out-of-place at an assignment, and my contacts were always kind. A month after doing short-term work, CHC organized an interview with the company that would become my full-time job for the last 1.5 years. I'm now happy, employed, and carving out what feels like the start of a career thanks to CHC. I couldn't be happier with the time I spent working for this agency! read more

Sigh. I really didn't want to write this review like this because everyone else seems like they've had such good experiences. I'm hoping they can still turn things around, but I have gotten little to no assistance from the recruiter I was assigned to despite going in for an interview and doing my best follow up with her on a regular basis. When I went in for what I assume was the screening process, the recruiter made it sound like I'd have no problem coming up with something, and i need to find something soon because my company is moving in November (further out into the suburbs...) and I cannot quit my current job without another one lined up. This temp agency is amazing! I have been in these streets for the past two month, hitting the pavement, trying to find the right position, and they helped me land my job offer in 8 business days, woot woot! Prior to going to The Chicago Hire Company, I went to the LaSalle Network and Klatt Temporary Service. The LaSalle Network did absolutely nothing for me. I came in, interviewed, and they could not tell me if/when positions would be available. They said I needed to check in periodically to see what turned up. One representative emailed me and asked if I was interested in a position. I responded within a few minutes, confirming that I was. She never set up a time to speak, nor responded back. Klatt sent me out on 1 interview, which did not lead to anything, and then contacted me in the morning for a same day assignment. I responded within the hour but by the time I called back, it was already filled. As I said, neither agency did much for me. Now The Chicago Hire Company is a different story; they are on point! I applied for a position, and Kailey Zaucha, a recruiter for the company, reached out the very next day, to set up a screening an interview on November 7th. I interviewed with Kailey, was introduced to the rest of the staff (all women, except the receptionist which is dope!), they reviewed my resume, and talked through potential job leads right there on the spot. Kailey requested that I edit my resume, which I did within the hour, and she sent it out. The next day I was set up with a phone interview on November 10th with Company A, and then I had a phone interview with Company B on November 11th. Company A wanted a second interview, so I interviewed with them on November 11th as well. Company A then requested an in person interview, which I did on Nov 15th. Within an hour of leaving the interview, I was offered the position. So after 5 interviews in total between 2 companies, I was offered a job at a prominent Chicago Consulting firm. My first day was today, November 28th. The company is amazing and I could not be happier. All of this to say that I am working now because of the efforts of Kailey and the team at Chicago Hire; I am immensely appreciative. They are super communicative and professional. They coached me the whole way through; actually held my hand is more like it. But after the complete hands off approach of the LaSalle Network and Klatt, I embrace it wholeheartedly. read more

it's a sign of the times i'm not particularly happy about - when I can call an EMPLOYMENT agency to sign up to look for work and the only thing they do is direct me to the website. When I read recent reviews here and they clearly note they called the agency and the spoke with them ... the folks at the agency were very helpful ... and all I can think about is how inconsistent it is - how it doesn't help anyone. This is a delayed review as I've already been with my company for over a year, but when I was looking for a job The Chicago Hire Company was the best of all of the agencies. I had been looking for a job for a month or so, and had no luck on my own or with other agencies. I was getting really close to throwing in the towel and accepting a job I didn't really want to take that I got through a different agency, but decided to take one last interview with this recruiting firm. I met with Jessica Deisler, and instantly she went above and beyond to help me find a job I wanted. The next day I had an interview set up with the company I'm at now. My one complaint was that this particular job was temp-to-hire, so my point of contact was a different recruiter at the agency (Jessica was helping with direct hire positions). This was my first "temp" position, and the temp-to-hire recruiter quit a few months into me starting my temp-to-hire role. I was really hesitant to take the role to begin with because of it being temp-to-hire, but decided to accept as it's a really cool company. It all ended up working out though, because Jessica became my point of contact, which I preferred. I ended up getting the permanent role and got the salary I wanted. Jessica is a rock star and cares about helping you find the job YOU want! A lot of agencies just want to throw you into a job to get commission, and I never got that vibe from this agency, especially from Jessica. My experience here was amazingly easy and so fast! Submitted my resume through the website on a Thursday. Got a call from Kailey the next day and set up an in person interview for the following Monday. This was the first time I worked with a staffing agency, so I didn't know what to expect, but it ended up being a very typical interview. Very thorough questions and they asked a lot about the type of environment you are looking for. Towards the end of our conversation she mentioned they just got in a new temp-hire assignment that might be exactly what I'm looking for. The next day I get an email with the details of the assignment to see if I was interested. I was, so we chatted quickly on the phone and she gave me some helpful resume advice. She sent off my resume and by the next day the company confirmed they were interested. We set up an on site interview for the following Monday and I met with two people from the company.
