So I paid a $4,000 retainer with the assurance that we would NOT exceed that amount unless it turned into a battle that went to court. Well, we never went to court and were in agreement every step of the way, yet Marc is now trying to charge additional funds after the divorce took 8 months due to HIS disinterest in the case. This lack of attentiveness led to MULTIPLE, repeated mistakes that should've never occurred because the majority of the divorce - including the parenting plan, division of property / debts and other miscellaneous details - had all been laid out by myself at the very beginning. Every time these mistakes were brought to his attention, with a gentle reminder for him to "refer to the original paperwork" - I was charged for him to make the corrections. I was told numerous times that certain paperwork or filings were already completed - then weeks or even months later, was surprised to hear that he was still working on those same items and you guessed it - being charged for them again. More than once, I sat in his office for appointments where he went over details that we had ALREADY ADDRESSED and reviewed in previous meetings - which was once again, a clear opportunity to double-charge me. I even had to ask for corrections on the child support order 3 different times (!!) - when I kept pointing out that the amounts were "off" compared to what I had determined in my own calculations. If I could give a zero, I would. Perhaps he was a good lawyer in the past, or is better with other areas of law - but when it came to a simple divorce, he was incredibly incompetent and expressed NO sense of urgency. In all honesty, his secretary was the only reason anything got done. Maybe I might've had a better experience if I was one of his "bigger ticket" clients - but unless you want to be exorbitantly charged for extreme lack of detail and disregard for your case, heed my advice and take your legal matters elsewhere!

Originally facing possession of six pounds, Mr. Chase challenged the city's evidence procedures and after discovering red flags, he had an independent auditor repeat the process of how the detectives calculated the six pounds. Lo and behold, it was determined by the Judge that the auditors conclusion was correct and the final amount was reduced from six pounds down to 1.9 pounds! Anything over two pounds carried mandatory penalties, so the new amount was FANTASTIC! After some self evaluation of realizing and accepting that it was my own choices that had me in this situation in the first place and that what I did (I was growing marijuana, after all) was against the law, it was Mr. Chase's experience and savvy that kept the City from pursuing false escalated charges and the possibility of many more years of incarceration (possession /distribution of 6 lbs. versus possession of 1.9 lbs.). AN IMPORTANT NOTE: I OVERLOOKED THAT I had a previous felony conviction from 10 years earlier that prohibited me from possessing a firearm. I had mistakenly believed that when my civil rights were restored on that felony conviction that my firearm rights were also restored. Hence, why I had a handgun. Turned out, it is a seperate process to restore second amendment rights to bear arms. BOTTOM LINE: As a prohibited firearms possessor due to a prior felony conviction, Mr. Chase was able to: get the 12 felony charges reduced to two got the possession of 6 lbs. reduced to 1.9 lbs. by challenging the City's evidence process got me no jail time, despite prior felony conviction got me two years probation, which turned out to be only one year. I am a straight, happily divorced man, but I never wanted to kiss a man like I did Mr. Chase that day in court! I highly recommend the approach, the mind, the dedicated effort and the resources of Mr. Chase. You owe it to yourself to interview Mr. Chase when choosing who is defending your freedom.
