I recently had a large brick patio installed in my back yard and I could not recommend Lawn Boys more highly, but I'll zero in on a few areas where I was specifically impressed 1. Spencer struck a wonderful balance between listening to what I wanted and offering expert advice. This was my first such project and while I had some aesthetic ideas, I needed a lot of help in figuring out what I wanted. The approach both fit into the limited notion I had, but also was broadly appealing (we didn't create a monstrosity that only I would like) 2. We did a great job working within the budget my wife and I laid out. We were given some options to control the cost, some of which made sense to us and others that didn't, but the options were ours--a key component was taking some "wasted space" and turning it into flower beds, and creating a contoured walkway to a secondary door rather than paving the whole thing. This looks fantastic and took the edge off of the overall expense. 3. The team works hard and over- delivers. For starters, Lawn Boys immediately put a lot of thought not only into the patio, but those thighs peripheral to it, like the flower beds including the plants in it, the lead-up to the patio from the yard, and the bordering of the patio to the yard. Lawn Boys left me with a "complete" project and not something that created a series of smaller projects for me after they were done. This holistic approach was evident even in the initial meeting where we discussed far more than the brick, this made Lawn Boys stand out from its competition forum the get-go. Secondly, Lawn Boys was able to start a full week earlier than I was quoted, and that was in the middle of the busy summer season. Lastly, due to the pandemic, I was home through the entirety of the project and was able to observe the team from time to time. The attention to craftsmanship and detail was superb as I watch the guys measure, remeasure and level numerous times to make sure it was just right. After twenty some years of trying, I had to admit. I can't grow grass. I am going to blame it on the soil in my yard. Lawn Boys came out and did a review of the property. It's been just a month and I now have green, deep green, thick bluegrass on my lawn! They also reset a stone walk in my garden and made it almost maintenance free. Hired Lawnboys through our builder, and was thrilled with the result! Lawnboys had reliable and conscientious crews and were skilled at providing every aspect of our outdoor living space needed. The team met with us on pricing and were very flexible with changes while not hitting us with 'extra' charges for relatively minor changes. They built a 'crypt' for our hot tub and lowered it into a difficult space, finished our concrete retention walls with beautiful stone and wall cap, built a boulder retention wall for our gas fire pit, which they surrounded with pavers and built a perfect paver walkway with columns and built the front stoop with pavers. They also fixed a major drainage issue as we sit against a dune slope and had a lot of water to contend with. They built a beautiful gas grill island, including running the gas line. I saw an example of Jamie's landscaping work and it was awesome. I called, set up an appointment, and met with him to discuss our needs. I was told they would be here the next week to do the job, which they said would only take 1/2 day. I was impressed. It took longer for them to get here than expected, but the hitch seemed to just be poor communication.....owner became involved and the problem cleared right up. When the men arrived at our home, they hit the ground running. Everyone seemed to know what had to be done, when it needed done. BE CAREFUL This company sold me a skidsteer and hid information that the machine had many problems like overheating, and broken parts. The machine a bobcat t180 skidsteer Was falsely advertised as well maintained And cared for but was also false. After I took it to the bobcat dealer, diagnostic were run on it and I was shocked at the outcome. I was informed that the engine is no good and the safety system was tampered with to ensure that the machine would run properly while selling it. The dealer informed me that the machine was far from well maintained. The company who handled the auction for lawn boys was informed about the problem and would not get on the phone to talk to me but when I bid and won the property they had no problems returning my calls, until I informed them of the problem. I contacted the owner at lawn boys and he basically said that that is why he went with an auction company, because he didn't want to deal with it. Wow !!! Iam shocked on how much of a fiasco This has been. The dealer informed me that the repair was going to be $15,000.00 I could have bought another machine now that I spent 16k for the machine already. I hired them to fertilize my lawn last fall. I watched them apply such a light application of fertilizer that it had absolutely no effect on my lawn. They quoted me $45 for the service and then billed me $50. I paid $45 with a note explaining I would only pay the quoted amount and then they continued to bill me for the balance. I used to have them cut my lawn but they left grass clippings all over my patio and furniture. I have a small lawn and it took me more time to clean the patio than it would have taken to cut the lawn myself. So basically they cost me time instead of saving me time. When you talk to the women in the office, they are surly and snooty. They have no concept of what customer service is. I've since switched to Coastal and am receiving great quality, great customer service and an overal positive experience. Don't waste your money on Lawn Boys. read more

We used lawn boys all last year and I was not happy so we discontinued. It cost $35 per week and we have a very small yard, but as a vacation home owner I need a service. They zip by every week run over the grass and are gone in 10 minutes with no edging etc. Grass looks like crap always. Poor value for the money. read more

If I could give this company a ZERO, I would. I contracted this service to provide lawn care for my parents and each time they came out they did not fully complete the service for which they were hired (i.e. cutting, trim and edging); In fact, when we contracted them to do Fall clean-up, they blew the leaves and debris under the evergreen bushes and failed to actually "clean-up" anything. I had been away for a while from my home and the yard was over grown. I Scheduled an apt which was cancelled 2 times. When they came on the 3rd apt they were very quick and left my yard a mess. Because it was over grown I didn't expect perfect lines by any means. I asked for them to bag the yard and I didn't care the cost. When I came home there were clippings everywhere. On my fence and all over the yard. I called to complain and they didn't even apologize. All they said was ok, we won't charge you for bagging. I asked that they come back out to bag it. They said they would buy again never showed. Even upon complaining yet again they did nothing. I ended up taking it myself... I was going to have weekly services done with them and even set my account up that way. They have lost me as a customer for sure! Would not recommend to anyone who wants something actually done unless your yard is already in perfect shape. read more

I used lawnboys to put in a hydroseeded lawn in my backyard. at first someone came to my house gave me a quote of 1400.00 and said that they would be back in a couple of days. Three weeks later they showed up. they were here for about three hours and left. they graded my back yard and hydroseeded it. they told me that that they would pick all the rocks and debris up and place It in a pile for me, so after they left I had to go around and pick up all of the debris and a lot of the rocks. seemed like the only things that they picked up was any pieces of scrap metal that was around my yard and placed it on their trailer. A couple of weeks went by and I was watering my lawn in the morning and about an hour before dark like your suppose to do and no grass. there were a lot of weeds but no grass. I called and spoke to a guy about my lawn and he said that the weeds were drought weeds and that I was not watering enough, I'm still curious about that because he could not see my lawn over the phone. I emailed the email address for the business and the same guy I talked to emailed me back and said that he had already explained this to me. He also said I will have someone out there this week, that was July 7 and today is the 22 of July, nobody has come out. I emailed the business email today and that guy didn't email me back but the original guy that quoted me the price of 1400 dollars called me.He informed me that the yard that they gave me was worth more than 1400 dollars because they put extra seed down, well I never asked for that so don't throw that into the equation. I asked this guy when they put the lawn in how was I to water it and he said keep it moist. I can dig an inch into my soil and it is moist anywhere on my property due to the high water table. Just ask all the blueberry growers around me. when this guy called me back he stated," I don't want you to be mad but you are probably not watering your grass enough." I put my front yard in with seed and I watered it just the same I have a nice lawn out front so I think I know how to water grass. The guy that called me today said he would be out today or tomorrow to look at my yard, well I guess we will see. read more

If you're looking for lawn and/or landscaping service in the South Haven area, I recommend Lawn Boys (they drive the bright yellow trucks!). For the past six years, I've relied on them for everything for my vacation home. For routine maintenance (e.g., irrigation system, lawn care, etc), I appreciate their consistent performance and punctuality. I've been most impressed, though, with results of bigger, one-time, projects. They did an overall landscape plan for me when I first acquired the house. It had been neglected, and many shrubs and bushes were overgrown. They tore out the old and planted the new in a fraction of the time I expected. It's been 5 -6 years, now, and each season I reflect on the beauty of their work. A bigger aspect of the landscape plan was the addition of two large cut-stone patios. It took a week to complete, but it was well worth it. The craftsmanship that I saw has made me a loyal customer. read more
