The service? It's OK. No complaints. BUT... this company will harass you until cows come home. By email. By phone. By mail. CONSTANTLY. Just in the past 2 weeks, I've received FOUR calls asking me if I received my renewal notice in the mail. I JUST received an email (the fifth) asking the same thing.... 20 minutes later the phone rang for the FIFTH time... same thing. I'm just barraged by communications from these people and it's beyond annoying. It got so bad I set up special filters in my email to delete their mail, and I set up special filters on my phone (Thank you Google Voice!) so their phone calls are flagged and go to voice mail. It's ridiculous. And bottom line is, after 7 years they just lost a customer. Not because they don't do a decent job, but because they won't STOP with the endless solicitations. If there was a choice for less than 1 star I would have chosen it. This company has ruined my lawn and has taken no responsibility. I reached out to them, including photos of the damage. Conveniently the Manager visited my property without prior announcement and therefore without my presence. I was very disappointed that they didn't take responsibility for their error. I wasn't thrilled with my lawn especially considering the cost, but to deny documented damage is unacceptable. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! When I tried to prepay my lawn service for one year, they actually raised my rates and charged my credit card the new higher rate without my authorization. I spoke to Daniel Cisz the Customer Service manager who said that he would review the phone recording logs. After a week passing, him basically calling me a liar and saying they would never do that Mr. Cisz oddly can't find the call records for that day? Mr Cisz then offers me a core aeration and over seeding at a discount (more money out of my pocket). He must be working on a commission. Enough is enough, I am going to find a good company that is not trying to scam me. P.S. My lawn has also never looked worse. I will upload some pictures of all the crab grass. read more

I've come to realize that all lawn care providers essentially offer the same thing. So from a services prospective (at least in my experience) they are on par with others that I've used. However, what really separates these guys is their customer service. It's nothing short of outstanding. Though they are a chain, they have local offices with people that actually answer the phone and return emails. They are polite and knowledgable. Also, the folks that come out to do the services are also very capable and are easy to communicate with. The only reason I rated them a 4 and not a 5 is my lawn isn't perfect. Not likely their fault, but only a flawless lawn would = 5 stars. Also, if you need further proof that they are a quality company, just look at the complaints here on Yelp. I have used Lawn Dawg for the past two years, when we bought our house the former owner used another service and the lawn was perfect. I thought, this should be easy, just dont screw it up....over the past two years, the lawn has gotten worse to the point we have discontinued the service. I paid 1600 last year, it's a lot and I expect a lot. The reason why we left the other service was the price, now were paying more with LawnDawg, as the answer is always add this service or this service and at one point, the sales guy said, add this fertilizer now and it will take care of the issue.....but you must do it now. After they re-scheduled three times due to a tech calling in sick, it was done about 27 days later. My frustration was crab grass and the answer was always...if you buy X service, it should take care of it....so spend more money, spend more money and then the service would be re-scheduled, over and over....and the crabgrass never went away and we have an irrigation system and water as they recommend. So, I thought I would take the advice of the former owner of the house and pay a professional to care for the lawn, which is less money. Lets see the results but I have to say, my neighbors don't use them either for the same reason. read more

i have used Lawn Dawg for 3 years and they are the least expensive way to get fertilization with some weed control, even compared to DIY. I use the basic service where they come out 5-6 times per season. My lawn is the envy of my neighbors. You can add a lacarte services if your lawn needs more attention. Like anything, paying attention and communication is the key to good results. read more

I stopped using them after two treatments. In the first, they missed a large portion of my yard and could not tell me where the problem areas were that they cited in their report, although they could recommend a costly treatment. The second visit they applied a grub treatment, although I have not had any problems with grubs and only wanted a fertilization plan. In response to my complaint, the sales person was rude and condescending to me. They get two stars because they didn't damage my my lawn, otherwise I would give them one because of the aggravation and disappointment. read more

Lawn Dawg has been servicing my lawn for more than 15 years. We had a problem back several years ago with some weeds and brown patches which Lawn Dawg took care of rather quickly at no extra charge. At the end of last season I started noticing large brown areas ( we have a sprinkler system that waters daily) and informed Lawn Dawg to which the tech applied some extra seed to and said they would "watch" the area next season. Long story short , this entire season the spot never got better, in fact now it's partially bare except for weeds. I called for a manager to come and inspect, which he did, and he told us he did not find any diseases and he applied more seed and would "keep an eye" on it. On the tech notes it states there were Clover, oxalis,excessive shade (untrue), bare spots and brown spots. I would like to have a green lawn, not one with all these problems. They are supposed to be lawn specialists. Where is my green lawn. It has been like this all summer.I don't want next year to go the same way. I guess I will have to call them AGAIN and see what they will do...otherwise I will look for another lawn care service. read more

Awful customer service!!!! After service was sent to my house, I had to contact customer service via the toll free number. I couldn't get resolution from the call center rep so she transferred me to her supervisor who also couldn't resolve my issue. She transferred me to her manager's voice mail. He did not call back so I called him back a day or two later and he (rudely) agreed to reverse charges. But I received another bill - with interest! I called again and left a message with the manager. Since he didn't call me back, I had to call back the next day. He doesn't recall telling me he would reverse charges so I had to leave another message with his manager. No resolution. What a horrible company to deal with. read more

I wanted to wait a full season before writing a review. First time user of a lawn service, referred to LD by a neighbor. I tried the service because for a year or two, about a third of my back yard had been covered by patches of ground ivy and other weeds, despite my attempts to address the problem. They made an extra visit (gratis) to help get rid of the weeds and between that, the regular fertilizing and the fall aeration/reseeding, it appears that the problem is solved. The entire lawn looks better than ever, despite a setback during the drought (I did relatively infrequent waterings). They were accommodating when I requested rescheduling visits. I've been very pleased with the service and outcome. read more

I switched to Lawn Dog because their prices were a bit cheaper than a competitor, and my lawn never looked worse. I should have stayed with my old lawn care company. I called customer service a few times and they made excuses, such as my lawn had a disease. They told me to increase my watering, which I did, and when that didn't work, they told me that I was overwatering and to decrease my watering, which I did. At the end of the year, I told them that my lawn never looked good for the entire season, and they said that was to be expected when I switched to their company because of their different products and their "holistic" approach. If I knew my lawn would look lousy for an entire season, I never would have switched to Lawn Dog. I would not use this company even if it was free. read more

This is the third year we've used Lawn Dawg and most likely will be our last. Weed control is out of control because apparently there is no weed control. I have worked diligently to improve my lawn and though I have grass the weeds are taking over. Sad to say my neighbor just switched to them and I'm afraid he will not be happy either. read more

I was initially pleased with the aeration and overseeding they did last summer in 2014 so took them on for spring and summer of 2015. I have a very nice sprinkler system and maintain my lawn regularly. My lawn has looked like crap all year and is overgrown with so many different weeds including nutsedge and crab grass to the point where my whole front lawn just looks absolutely horrible in fact worst than my neighbor's lawns who do not get lawn service or have sprinklers. I called this company on two occasions asking them what exactly it was that they were doing because whatever it was that they were doing was not working. They said that they were fertilizing but also they were doing weed control which didn't seem to be enough. I said to them "I don't care what I have to pay just tell me what I need to do to control the weeds". I simply wanted their help and to know if there was something I was missing. This was July and they said the only thing they could do at that point in the summer was wait until the weeds died and do an aeration and overseeding which I then agreed to. Three weeks after the aeration and overseeding there was very little growth and even more weeds showed up. I called them and told them what was going on and basically said I don't think I'm going to use your services anymore to which they pushed very hard for me to have a manager come out and look at the lawn. The manager came out and looked at the lawn and agreed that it needed more weed control and that he would do that for free as well as an additional free aeration and overseeding. He then said point blank " you will not be charged for any further services." He said I could see how it went after the aeration overseeding and if I was happy and he hoped that I would be that I would keep Lawn Dawg on for my lawn care. The manager did honor his word and he had them come out and do some more weed control and spray. The plan was to let the lawn sit for a few weeks and then to do the reseeding but just last week lawn dawg showed up again and fertilized and then charged me for that. When I called them to ask them why I was being charged they said there must have been a miscommunication because they can't offer me any free services unless I have an open account which means that I continue to receive paid services from them. They then said that they would not honor my free reseeding unless I agreed to continue being their customer which seems ridiculous because the whole point of reseeding the lawn was to see if what they did was a good job and then I would continue if I thought that that was the case. To make a long story short I cancelled all services and my account with lawn dawg and honestly for what you pay which isn't a whole lot but it does add up they really do not offer much. read more

After over 20 years of successfully caring for my lawn and being weed free I wanted to relieve myself from the chore. I obtained Lawn Dawg to do the work for me after being enticed with the first application, a pre emergent weed preventative, being free. What a disappointment! What appeared were weeds that I never before had! What followed was a fertilizer treatment which caused my lawn to over grow faster and with more weeds!! I cancelled any further fertilizer/grub treatments until the fall when I was to try core aeration and over seeding and went back to caring for my lawn as I had for many years prior. Today I am in receipt of a statement for $40.00 plus $.20 interest for the "free" application last spring. I telephoned them to inquire about this and was told that a condition of the free treatment was only if I successfully completed their entire annual program. Please know that this condition was never conveyed to me verbally nor do I have any paperwork, signed or otherwise, which outlines this condition. Needless to say, I will not have Lawn Dawg step another foot upon my lawn! I should have heeded my neighbor's warning to stay clear of Lawn Dawg!!
