I had a mixed experience with this tree service. The good: The crew who came out did a careful job cutting down a large tree close to a building. They worked safely and avoided any property damage. On the technical side of things, I was satisfied. The bad: The quoting and scheduling process was very disappointing. The estimator visited my property (without me present) and provided a quote after walking the site. A month later, when the scheduled workday came, the technician suddenly said he couldn't honor the quote. He claimed I had poured a new cement driveway since the quote, which was simply not true -- the driveway had been there all along. He explained that using their truck might damage the driveway, so the tree would need to be climbed and removed a different way. That's fine, but the $800 price increase should have been acknowledged as their mistake, not blamed on me. I even offered to meet halfway, but he refused and insisted on the full amount. With no other option, I agreed just to get the tree down. Bottom line: the tree was removed safely, but the lack of accountability and the last-minute upcharge left a very bad impression. I had Lawson come out and give me an estimate to remove a large dead oak tree that was threatening to fall on my house. They gave me a very good estimate . They followed up in a week and removed the tree which was an extremely difficult job they cut it down in sections. I am enormously pleased with the quality of work Lawson's provides! This is the second time I have hired them, and both times they have impressed me with their professionalism, quick work and excellent price. Most recently, they removed a large tree that was touching my roof, trimmed a holly tree that was taking over my fence, removed a large branch from a tree that was hanging over my driveway and pruned and shaped my enormous willow tree that was starting to encroach upon my neighbor's driveway. Not even a leaf was left on the ground when they finished because everything was raked and removed. I am very pleased with large tree removal. 5 men worked efficiently together and protected my lawn as tree sections were dropped. Stump removal and clean-up were great. They used safety lines to guide where the tree would fall. Very pleased from initial estimate to completion. Cleaned up all debris. I have had many a tree removed, but these guys worked hard and kept safety in mind. Reasonable pricing. Very knowledgeable about me getting the appropriate permissions from HOA. Fast, and low price compared to others in area but customer service was horrible. Knocked down a cable line while taking down a tree. I came home to a wire hanging in my driveway, no call when it happened to give a heads up. Had an attitude when I called to ask about it, but said they would take care of it. A week and three calls and messages later I just had it fixed myself. Called to complain about poor customer service and since it's a family business the same rude woman was the only person to talk to and basically just said "sorry you feel that way" no real apology. Would not use this service again. They did not do a bad job just had a bad attitude in a situation that was their fault. A simple call and apology when it happened and then a quick fix would have left me with an entirely different feeling. A little customer service goes a long way. read more
