They settled my case for probably $25,000-$50,000 what I should have gotten. I have permanent hearing loss and frequent bouts of vertigo from my injury and they did the bare minimum. I never even spoke with the actual attorney-only the paralegal assigned to my case. They are a big shop who will do the bare minimum on 90% of their cases and dedicate their full force for the 10% that will make them hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you have a small/medium suit, find other representation.

That same day, my mother texted the firm and clearly stated that I had not agreed to hire them, that any funds were to be held in trust pending my decision, and that I did not consider myself to have counsel yet. Despite that, the next morning Mr. Salcido/his firm filed an Appearance of Counsel and additional motions in my case. I had never spoken to him, never signed an appearance or retainer agreement (nor had my mother signed the retainer agreement), and I had consistently stated that I did not want several of the things that were requested in those motions. I only learned about all of this by logging into the court system and seeing filings made under my name. When I confronted the firm, Mr. Salcido agreed to withdraw after I made it clear I had never consented to representation. A staff member also told me, "we probably weren't going to be taking on your case anyway," which was especially frustrating given that they had already taken my mother's payment and filed documents with the court as if they represented me. This experience was extremely upsetting, especially because my case centers on issues of consent and police conduct, and I am a trauma survivor with Complex PTSD. Having an attorney I'd never met appear in my case and make strategic decisions (including things I had explicitly stated I did not want) without my knowledge or consent has seriously damaged my trust. I am sharing this so that other potential clients, especially those in vulnerable positions, are aware of how my intake and case were handled here and can make informed decisions about whether this is the right firm for them.

Waddoups missed a very BIG, yet simple deadline in letting the city know that he intended to file against the sicty by the deadline. He blew right through the deadline, did nothing, and left my elderly Mother who was severely injured with no further options to recoup compensation from the city. He was unapologetic, arrogant, and we're still trying to collect from insurance who has also lawyered up. How diappointing. We all make mistakes. All Riley had to do was to apologize, and negotiate a fair settlement for my Mother. He instead ignored her and dumped her case. Leaving her with nothing and nobody to continue. This guy doesn't care about his clients, in my experience. He is in it for Riley, and when he screws up, he will turn on YOU, and YOU and only YOU and your loved ones will pay the price. He and Debry should be out of business with that level of dishonesty and horrific service. Run, don't walk, run from this place and try to find someone slighly more honorable. Tough given the industry, but keep looking. You and your pain mean nothing to this firm.

My assigned attorney Keith Johnson and his assistant Crystal Aparicio, in a sympathetic tone explained to me that despite my feelings, this needed to be treated as a business transaction with my interest taking precedent. The result was a final divorce decree that took place faster than the minimum 30-days; my pension left untouched, and stipulation that I could live with. Yes, that whole time felt like a living hell, but the staff at the firm were always available to contact and made the whole process as smooth as possible. I would never recommend needing a divorce attorney, but if there is no other choice - please contact these folks. They provide a degree of light during a dark time in life, and I thank them.

He showed me no calculations for allocation of child support and alimony and was largely absent in the process. I was under duress during mediation due to an injury that occured the night before. He allowed the mediation to go on for over 12 hours and recommended I give my ex-wife my house with a 2.85% mortgage, my truck, $6000 per month in child support and alimony event though I have my kids 50% of the time and I paid off all her debt. This put me on a path that has caused immense emotional and physical stress. Don't risk it.
