On 7 February 2013, I stole my hubby for lunch. We chose the closest restaurant from the M1 Les Sablons metro stop and, although we didn't have a reservation, we were seated. The décor was modern, tastefully done and upscale. Lunch prices started at 18 euro. We each chose a different Plat du Jour (My man chose the gnocchi in a cream sauce. I chose the shredded chicken with herbs, baked in philo dough like a square present atop roasted almonds.) We each ordered a glass of Chablis and table water. We were pleasantly surprised when a fruits de mer starter arrived. We didn't realize an entrée came with the Plats du Jour, how nice! I don't know how they incorporated the smoky taste to the incredibly fresh, perfectly steamed calamari, but it was tantalizing on the taste buds. We were more than half way done, when our waiter approached, speaking rapid French and looking a little perplexed. Turns out the Plats du Jour don't come with a starter, they were meant for the couple at the table seated behind. I felt a little bad, but very lucky to benefit from the tasty mistake, UNTIL the waiter took the plates away from us, with our forks in our hands. I immediately jumped to the Seinfeld episode with the Soup Nazi, but this time he said, "No FISH for YOU!" 1 minute later our REAL Plats du Jour arrived. They were both really delicious, even if it did cost 45 euros for a lunch for 2. I can't seem to bring myself to recommend however, or go back to a place who would take food away from customers, in the middle of a bite! C'est la vie en France! read more
