We've been on the classic Seine tour before, but this is a big cut above. Starting off on the canal in the 10th ar., a spot in Paris that's a bit less polished and touristy, you board the double decker boat (inside or outside seating) about 20-30 min prior. You go through 3 different locks (of 9 total on the canal) on what was the food highway for Paris back in the day-over 27 meters lower by the time you reach the Seine. Shortly after lock 2, the canal goes underground! For 2KM! And you eventually pass directl beneath the 50 M tall obelisk of the place de Bastille. The bi-lingual guide, Thomas, narrated along the entire 2-hour route. Once you exit the canal, you travel down the seine past the Statue of Liberty and finish back at the Pont Neuf bridge. So much better than the other swine cruises and we were lucky to have only about 35 people on board so plenty of room to get Pix.

A little hard booking and finding, but worth it!…read more I found this river tour/cruise from a recommendation from some travel bloggers. They mentioned a few things that made me want to book. It's a little messy with the booking and the website but no issues. I recommend you book ahead just to be safe. We added the champagne and the charcuterie board. Day of the tour, it is a little tough finding it. The confirmation email and voucher have the two locations of the other cruises but not the actual one you will be on! I had to read reviews to know that you don't meet at either. You meet at Pont Neuf. On a map it shows as Quai de l'Horloge, Paris, France. Just a handy FYI as we almost missed our ship. Once on, it's not the nicest but it certainly isn't bad. The guide was good and the views amazing. We were able to see the the Eiffel Tower sparkle and did a nice loop on the river. It was beautiful! I would do again but there are nicer tours. If you don't want to spend a fortune, this one is just fine!

I chose Vendettes du Point Neuf due to its proximity to the area where I was staying. It was easy to reach on the Metro as it's located on Point Neuf which is a tip of the Ile de la Cite island that Notre Dame is located on. In this case, I decided just to walk on. It was early May and I sensed that there would be plenty of room available and I was right. I arrived at 2:08 pm and immediately got on the 2:15 pm tour at a cost of 17€. I found out they have a tour boat that leaves every thirty minutes for the one hour tour. We left promptly on time sitting on top of the open air uncovered deck with great unobstructed views. The boat has a drink and snack bar on board in addition to water closets for the guests. The boat moves at about 10 miles an hour and circled the Ile de la Cite island with great views of Notre Dame and then proceed down the river passing the Orsay Museum and continuing all of the way down to the Eiffel Tower for more great views of it, There we turned around and proceeded back to the starting point arriving one hour after leaving. It was an enjoyable cruise. The weather was comfortably cool and the narrator on board did a good job of describing everything that we passed by. At the end he does stand at the exit hoping for a tip. I felt the cruise was well worth the cost and would recommend it depending on the weather.

Our guide would say a few sentences in French and then repeat them in English. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job. Don't forget to tip! A few things to note. Sit up front if you want to be able to hear everything. The back of the boat is impossible. There is no sound back there. We did crash into something on our way out so make sure you are sitting down when they take off. I have a feeling this is a regular occurrence. They do sell drinks and snacks on board but we did not get anything so not sure of the pricing.

I had read about Canal St Martin and had been interested so to get to take the tour and use it as transportation was great. In short, a wonderful way to spend two and a half hours leisurely riding up the canal, seeing Paris from a new perspective. A short part this trip is on the Seine (the beginning or end depending on which direction you are riding) which is, of course, lovely, however, most of the trip took us through areas we hadn't visited before. The boat was clean and pleasant. The crew were wonderful, Arnaud pointed out historical sites of interest along the way. I was also really surprised at all there was to do up at Port la Villette. Highly recommended if you want to see Paris from a different perspective. Consider bringing a snack or a picnic as there is no food for sale other than a vending machine on the boat. There are also many dining options at Porte de la Villette. Two Metro lines serve the area for the return to central Paris.

We did the StMartin canals to the Seine and were glad we did. We had a sunny beautiful day too.The neighborhood you start the tour in is a little sketchy and we were glad when we were done we were down by Notre Dame. After a while the locks become a little tedious but it was a great way to see areas of Paris you may have missed.

Thus, the greenway to the Southwest of the canals (Square Federick Lemaire) was closed (probably to keep people out during the night time). But the canal is well lit, and there were plenty of young and old men having a good time, smoking and drinking. On the eastern side of the canal, there are quite a few nice shops, and people were still shopping. On the western side is more industrial shops, with us walking past multiple home improvement shops focusing on flooring and tiles. We were not able see any of the locks in action, but were able to cross the bridges back and forth and take some nice pictures. it's definitely worth a stop if in the area, and i understand why it would be so beautiful in the spring for a leisurely walk in the daytime.

I was very determined not to let our visit to Canal Saint Martin go down the drain. I didn't want to take a riverboat cruise but simply grab a baguette sandwich and sit at one of the benches and enjoy the view. While Canal Saint Martin was very agréable, the Paris weather was not. Periods of rain made our picnic idea a soaking mess but we happened to catch a riverboat going up through the locks. Did you know ? Construction of the canal was ordered by Napoleon I in 1802 and construction took place until 1825, funded by a new tax on wine. The neighborhood was friendly and the views were stunning. We had a great time enjoying the sights even with the Paris rain. Best part of Canal Saint Martin is that it's free. There's no admission ticket or reservation to make. To get there via metro the 8 line takes you to République and from there it's a short walk.
